I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
After discovering greenish discharge in my underwear in the morning, I went to my doctor who prescribed me the usual course of 1 g of Azithromycin and 1 400 mg of Cefixime for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. At first my symptoms lessened but later returned. I waited two weeks before seeing my doctor again who prescribed me the same medication. I did test positive for Chlamydia. Again the symptoms receded but again they returned.
For an infection like strep throat its better to start with drugs like Cephalosporins or pencillins and azithromycin or Co trimox.As drug like Levaquin has more fatal side effects I think its better you switch off to other broad spectrum antibiotics like said above.Stop using Levaquin now.Its not that long that you have severe adverse effects,so better change the prescription.Use salt water gargles to relieve symptoms of Strep throat.Get a better medication like Cepahlosporins.
None of these is likely to cause pain without discharge or other symptoms. But if you were incubating gonorrhea or NGU, the azithromycin and levaquin would have prevented them. The fact that the treatment made no difference is further evidence that the pain was not due to any STD.
2) In theory, if you were infected by the oral sex event, you could have transmitted the infection to your partner the next day. But since almost certainly you didn't catch an STD anyway, partner no.
Panacing i took 1g of Zpack orally then got tested two days later I took another 1g pack. the results came back negetive. Still having the same feeling I took 500mg of Levaquin. Then I read that it was no longer recommended for GC so i took a 250mg shot of Ceftriaxone. Is this enough to kill Chlamydia and Gonorrhea? Could it just be Urthetitis and would these meds take care of that too? Need answers please.
I decided to consult my regular physician and he has sent my urine sample for culturing today. He has prescribed azithromycin and I am going to start the course from today. I am really worried about what exactly is going on...
Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
I do not know who is using this medication now, everyone is using Clarithromycin or Azithromycin now. There is no long term side effectes, just need some time for guts to recover. Take lots of plain yogurt.
Perhaps suggests that you shold have a longer course of azithromycin although if the azithromycin was helping the biaxin should have had the same effect - they are closely related. I think you are going to have to work through this with your doctor.
Went to see a doctor, who confirmed prostatitis--not BPH--with digital probing, and gave me azithromycin, then levaquin, ten day courses of each. Neither had any noticeable effect beyond making me constipated. I did online research and found out that most prostatitis is not bacterial, a possibility the doc (who was elderly) did not even appear to consider.
after protected sexual contact and attending water festival i started having penile discharge which looked clear, doc gave me amoxillin 1g for 7 days without any tests, still symptoms were there so he advice me to take same med for 7 days more, no improvement. then he gave me azithromycin 1g and inj rocephin (ceftriaxone) 1g.

After my oral exposure I took Avelox, 400mg 1 x day for 8 days for a sinus issue. during that time I started experiencing the genital symptoms. I was scared and went to my Uro who tested my urine, negative and clear for bacteria WBC, etc., and did a rectal secretion and found obvious bacteria in my prostate.
i was then sent to a urologist and everything came back normal beside a large hydrocele. i was prescribed levaquin for 14 days, that seemed to work. now the second part of the question.
2.) i'm not sure of the cause but was diagnosed with NGU - chlamydia and gonnoreah were negative. i felt like these symptoms came on after about 3 days after an encounter with a woman without a condom, i was treated with doxy and cipro.
Both the azithromycin (the original 4 pills) and the levaquin would have cured NGU. You do not have an infection. Follow up with your doctor. This forum cannot help you further.
Everything looked clean. I was prescribed to take Levaquin for seven days. How long does it usually take until the medication kicks in?

I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

In May 2007, I traveled to the UK on business. 3 days prior to the trip, I received unprotected oral for 1 - 2 minutes. While in the UK I came down with symptoms of frequent urination, burning, itching, and discharge. I immediately found a clinic, tested, and treated (Zithromax, 1 dose; and second, 4 doses but I do not recall name). The symptoms subsided after 2 weeks while back in the States and then cleared up. The clinic called and I tested negative.
re never going to know for sure whether you might have had either a UTI or an STD such as nongonococcal urethritis or, even less likely, gonorrhea, because of taking azithromycin before any testing was done. All culture tests and any further STD testing that might be done are going to be negative because of the antibiotic. Taking it before seeing a provider was a mistake.
I have had chronic respiratory problems since I was a child. I am now over 70. I have sinusitis which sometimes becomes acute. I don't have asthma attacks, but I have been described as having "reactive airways syndrome," which seems to be an accurate description of what happens when I get a cold. I also have some allergies. Had vaginal and oral sex about 30 days ago. Within 24hrs I developed a mild burn/irritation in my urethra and head of penis. I have no visible signs (discharge or redness). It slightly burns when urinating but nothing severe. I've been on a week of Doxy and a week of levaquin-currently on my 3rd day of Zithromax and it still persist. Should I receive a cystoscope from urologist? Does this sound like something transmittal? I had test done through requestatest.
Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
