No pharyngitis. So about 4 days ago I took 1 gram of Azithromycin followed by four days of 250mg per day just in case it was a nongonococcal urethritis. It has been 3 days since I took the Azithromycin and my symptoms are still there. My female partner has not mentioned having any symptoms.
(1) does this sound like possibly a viral (adenovirus) urethritis or other?
when the pharyngitis occurs, I usually got to local ENT doctors and they prescribes me a dose of Azithromycin 250mg X 6 that I take 500mg in the first 24 hours and then 250mg in the next 4 days/24 hours. it works and I feel better for a period of 3 to months but after this period it starts again and again I have to take that dose of Azithromycin (anti-biotic) for treatment.
I am not drinking alcohol nor I smoke but honestly, sometimes I can not avoid eating spicy food and cold water.
I asked if the pharyngitis warranted an HIV test and was told that it did not unless it recurred, and was also told that Azithromycin is not the drug of choice to treat pharyngitis. I am now on Amoxicillin.
Other worrying symptoms after the incident have been the appearance of 2 fresh moles (dark spots, pigmentation, not raised) on my body. 1 near a very old one on my left bicep and another on my lower right hand (near wrist).
One week ago, i started to feel a lot of gas in my stomach, and i had hard to burp them out. Sometimes i felt a little bit stomachache after i eat a lot, i guess this looks like gastric ulcer. Then my throat started to feel weird, i always feel something was inside of my throat and very sore feeling. After that, i had hard time breathing. It was like your diaphragm can not expand completely, and weird feeling around the lung area.

In January 2009 I was diagnosed with inflammation and a sore throat. The ENT specialist diagnosed it as acute stomatitis and put me on Azithromycin. In April of 2009,my VD and skin specialist had me undergo blood work for HIV and tests for STDs, including the IgG ELISA tests for Herpes. Both the IgG tests for HSV1 and HSV2 came back negative. Blood work was normal. HIV tests came back as non reactive for HIV1/2.

I need some clarity ... for the last 3 months I've come down with strep, pneumonia and acute pharyngitis. Earlier this month I had unprotected sex with a prostitute (vaginal only) in a country town. After 8 days I woke up (Friday) with a bit of sore throat (I have several very cold beers the night before). I also added azithromycin 500mg ( am allergic to augmentin ) for 3 days to cover for any bacterial superinfection that might kick in later in this ugly course.
Today is the 5th day of this painful journey, i still have the same pain in my throat cant swallow anything without crying from the pain the hits from my pharynx all the way to both ears. My question is how much time does it still need to heal and should I add Acyclovir or it's useless right now after all this time?
Also on Sunday I felt a little pain in the left side of my throat, so I went to the hospital on Tuesday and the doctor said it should be a bacterial pharyngitis. I started taking medicine for this also - azithromycin - for five days (so I just had the second one), but it seems not to work very well until now. Actually when I woke up today my throat was hurting even more. I'm with 39ºC right now, and since Sunday a headache which comes and fades.
What should I expect from it?
I had pharygitis 3 weeks ago. I still have pain in my throat like I did then. The pain is where my tonsils were...She said the puss pockets I had were right where my tonsils were. I am wondering if this just takes some time to get over or could it be a reoccurance??
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services. The bottom line: almost certainly you have a garden variety cold virus, allergy, etc, and not gonorrhea or any other STD. To your specific questions:
1) This may be more information than you need, but: As you already know, pharyngeal (throat) gonorrhea generally doesn't cause symptoms at all.
Plus i had an ceftriaxone 1g iv and 500 azithromycin just in case which the doctor didnt prescribe. I felt normal towards the end had normal erections. Jan 20 was my last day of drugs i felt normal. No testicle pain. Jan 22 i had sex, no blood in semen, (wasnt any before either) the next day i had pharyngitis and on 25th i had pain again.
I went to the doctor he said it should have healed he gave me ceftriaxone 1g iv and cephradine 500 iv twice daily for 3 days.

When I gave oral sex, I was sure there was pre-sperm in my mouth while I got pharyngitis and sores in throat at that time. I am wondering if pharyngitis or throat sores can increase HIV risk for me? Am I risk? Thanks for advice.
