Avatar f tn Hello, You seemed to be having hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
Avatar f tn A little over a month ago, I started waking up around 4am, like clockwork, itching my thigh, arms, back, and chest. It was daily and resulted in small hives all over. However, it was only during that time. During the day, perfectly fine. Thought it was my detergent, changed that, my soaps, everything. A couple weeks later, I had oral sex (never ejaculated in someone's mouth or vise-versa). A week later, had protected sex. Note, the itching I've had has been mild now.
Avatar n tn i went to my physician and was tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea; and given azithromycin and a ceftriaxone injection. my discharge went away...just recently (mid july) i began having the same symptoms and went and got tested and found out while i was getting tested for this current round of discharge that the previous tests were negative for the std's tested...
Avatar m tn a few days later then told me i had an std and gave me azithromycin. i only took the bactrim for 5 days before getting this medication. 2 pills every 12 hrs. i then stopped taking it and took the 1g 4 pills one dose.after that i had stomach pain almost 30 mins after taking it. the next day my foot started to hurt and my upper legs was very itchy. i thought maybe it was just a side effect. a couple days later i noticed if i inhaled long my chest would feel weird.
280418 tn?1306325910 I don't understand how I could still have hives, but I do. I break out in the evening. I have not taken any antibiotic for almost two weeks. I also noted an increase in my tinnitus with the first hive breakout. It is also worse in the evening, even with taking into account that things tend to be more quiet at bedtime. I actually have more tinnitus regardless of the ambient noise level. So weird. I don't know if this is herxing or the remnants of an allergic reaction.
Avatar m tn Going back to this, last night I began having a discharge. Yellow and quite thick. Completely took me by surprise. Already took Azithromycin 5 weeks ago. No pain while urinating, but an urge to go. I'm fearing the worst now. Don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
Avatar f tn After taking Azithromycin and getting a shot in my butt and waiting 7-8 days is it safe for me to receive oral sex from a female even if my symptoms cleared up the next day I took them and after being treated and given a shot and if I got treated within 5 days in noticing something is my chance of getting rid of a STD higher since I reacted on it faster and after waiting 7-8 days after taking azithromycin and getting a shot can not use a condom and still be safe even when the symptoms cleared up
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Chlamydia about a week ago. They gave me Azithromycin, 4 tablets at 250mg to take all at once. I took them and have severe stomach cramping and nausea, and ended up getting sick about 45 to an hour after taking the last pill... hoping that I would have already digested it before I got sick. The stomach pain lasted the rest of the day. It's been about 3 days now since I have taken it, but I still have that "burning" sensation after I urinate.
1125622 tn?1295420118 as the advice nurse said if you can continue to take the medicine try to but that was about it for me. Started experiencing the same reaction I have had in the past to doxycycline, vancomycin, azithromycin, pencillin, keflex, and co-trimoxazole.I want to stress this reaction sometimes comes with a faint rash sometimes not at all. The nature of it being rather a burning sensation under the skin which is not visible, there is no hives, blisters sometimes not even a rash at all.

Avatar n tn Skin reactions are the most common adverse reactions to sulfa medications, ranging from various benign rashes to life-threatening Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Hives and increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity) are also possible. There is a possibility that if the sulfa medication is continued despite a mild rash occurring, the rash could progress to a more severe form of skin reaction. Liver and kidney injury.
Avatar f tn Well within one hour my entire body, every part head to toe was bright red and covered in severely itchy hives. Since returning home I have seen 3 doctors who all say that the solumedrol would not have caused the hives, but there's not one other thing I can think of that could have done this. I'm still using creams and Benedryl but without relief. I haven't slept more than 2 hours in over a week.
1692704 tn?1307211780 My Azithromycin makes me very nauseated when I take it. I do take it along with food, but this doesn't always help. Anyone ever experience this with an antibiotic and if so, any suggestions to alleviate it??
Avatar n tn 2%) on azithromycin and 1/22 (4.5%) on ciprofloxacin. Hence, azithromycin stat dose has proved to be a cost-effective treatment for uncomplicated gonorrhoea supported by the increased prevalence of penicillin-resistant organisms, concomitant chlamydial infection and the high failure rate in keeping review appointments.
Avatar m tn I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all. So is it possible that azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis? I hope my doctor knew what he was doing.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 1g of azithromycin 3 weeka ago in the UK for chlamydia. Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste). After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).
Avatar m tn We we both prescribed 1000mg of azithromycin, 4 bills at 250mg. After 7 days of taking the medication we engaged in protected vaginal sex (condom). About 2 weeks later we performed unprotected oral sex (both of us giving and receiving) and continued with protected vaginal sex. 4 weeks after taking azithromycin I got re-tested for chlamydia which my results came back as negative. Her's came back as positive. How common is it for 1000mg azithromycin not to be effective for clamydia?
