zithromax

Avatar f tn I'm 23 years old, 1/22/18 I tested positive for Chlamydia after experiencing UTI like symptoms and was prescribed 2 azithromycin 500 mg tablets from planned parenthood. Symptoms disappeared but then reappeared 3 months later and I returned and tested positive again and was pescribed doxycycline 100mg tabs once a day for 7 days. After treatment my symptoms continued to persist and I worried that I was still not cured.
Avatar f tn Azithromycin is commonly known for giving people diarrhoea- even up to two weeks later. If you have a burning sensation it could just be residual irritation from the chlamidya- but I would get a urine sample checked to be sure. Little white dots would have to be examined by a nurse or doctor.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that the azithromycin didn’t work or is this possibly a UTI? My doc has told me to come back after 3 months for a chlamydia retest but should I go now? I took azithromycin on March 16.
Avatar m tn I told him about the recommended therapy for NGU and had him RX me 1mg of Azithromycin which he told me that I could use "if I wanted to". However he wanted me to start Bactrim right away. I feel somewhat left in a limbo. My concern is that I didn't get the right antibiotic and that any bacteria infection could spread throughout the system; kidneys etc.
Avatar f tn Go potty after intercourse. Some people are more prone to UTI's I get them after intercourse if I don't go potty afterwards.for chlamydia. Oflaxacin/Levofloxacin for you and your partner. Abstain from intercourse for 7 day's during treatment of chlamydia.
Avatar m tn I visited the doctor and he gave me azithromycin 1g. The pain was gone for 3 days after taking azithromycin but from the 4th day I started to feel that the discomfort and irritation was coming back Its been 9 days now and the pain in testicles is back but its not as intense as it was before i took the azithromycin, but i think the pain is growing everyday. I also want to mention that the doctor did not get me tested for chlamydia/gonorrhea as tests are not easily available in the country I am.
Avatar f tn So basically I was wondering if I do test positive would I have to take another round of Azithromycin? Or should I ask them for Doxycycline? Also if the test comes back negative could I still be given another round of antibiotics for the symptoms?
Avatar f tn I found out I had chlamydia in April after going to the doctor for what I thought seemed like UTI symptoms. I was given azithromycin in the drink form. Me and my boyfriend both drank the meds, abstained from sex for 8 days, and symptoms seemed to be cured. In the past month or so I started noticing that the symptoms seemed to be returning. The only symptoms I have ever experienced were burning in the vagina and urethra. I went back to the dr again. Negative for a UTI, positive chlamydia.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and he said it might be an infection of my urnairy tract system he prescribed me azithromycin 6 day medication. I think my anxiety is making it worst or overthinking. Does anyone feel the same?
Avatar m tn If you are found to still have urethritis, re-treatment may be recommended; the standard approach is to treat such men with azithromycin (Zithromax) with or without metronidazole (Flagyl and other brands). Please try to avoid urinating for at least 4 hours before being examined; this aids in detecting subtle evidence of urethritis. (Best is to arrange an early morning appointment, avoid fluids near bedtime, and get examined before first urination of the day.
Avatar f tn I've been having unprotected vaginal sex with a female. 15days ago I got minor amounts of whitish discharge coming from the tip of my penis, it was followed by stinging at tip of penis and mild burning/discomfort after peeing. I went and got an STI screening (urine test) (3rd day after initial symptoms), Came back negative for all sti's tested by urine, i also was told its Not a UTI. My partner has no symptoms.
Avatar f tn My doctor originally thought it was a UTI and gave me some antibiotics for that. I took them and started to feel slightly better, but the he called me a few days later and said my STD test came back positive for Chlamydia. He prescribed me (4) 250mg Azithromycin. I took those, and my symptoms started to clear. A few days went by and I felt fine. Then I started to get sharp pains in my left testicle.
Avatar n tn Went to Planned Parenthood and tested positive for Gonorrhea. I received the dual treatment of ceftriaxone and azithromycin. The symptoms cleared up and I though it was gone but a week water treatment I started to get discharge and burning again. I went to my PCP and he prescribed Cipro but after 2 doses I got tendon pain so stopped taking it. So I’m now thinking the original treatment didn’t kill it completely because it seems I had a really bad case.
Avatar n tn current recommendations are you get the shot of ceftriaxone and oral azithromycin at the same time if you test + for gonorrhea. the 2 gm dose of azithromycin alone is only helpful for chlamydia at this point, not gonorrhea. if you were given just oral treatment for gonorrhea, you are supposed to retest any time after 1 week post treatment to see if it was effective or not. why does it fail?
Avatar m tn I received a 3 muscular injection of Cephem for 3 days and a 1 week prescription of some antibiotics. I tried this for 2 weeks and was not making any progress except for after the injections. I went to a different hospital after my 3rd week there (larger hospital), and received vein injections of cefitriaxone and zithromax (azithromycin). The vein injections of cefitriaxone stopped my symptoms, but only for 48 hours. I'm not sure if the pills were really working.
Avatar f tn I went back to a clinic and got retested positive for chlamydia again 2 weeks later. Took azithromycin again with no relief. Went back another 2 weeks later to planned parenthood, she did a wet mount and said she saw white blood cells, so prescribed me doxycycline without running my urine since it could have been a false positive. Anyways, the doxycycline seemed to help the uti symptoms until it was finished, now I feel the same as before. Really confused???
Avatar n tn ) Your wife should see her primary care provider for proper evaluation and treatment of her probable UTI. For the reasons above, I doubt it has anything to do with the sexual exposure described above. That should wind up this thread. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Urine was sent off to lab, and the lab spilled sample so no additional testing was performed. Doctor treated me with an injection of Azithromycin and then 1g orally ()2 500mg pills which I took at the same time). Now, three days later, I'm still experiencing some burn and some burn during urination. If I actually did have an STD, is it normal that the symptons would linger until I'm completely healed?
Avatar f tn then i had it again and i got the treatment for the second time. after that i went to a new doctor and she told me that i only have bv but i kinda don’t believe her because she wasn’t so sure and she doesn’t understand english that much. i took the medications she prescribed me which were Azithromycin and a vaginal suppository. i had my period during that time so i stopped using my vagainal medication and then i started taking it again after i finished my period.
Avatar n tn It also is often misdiagnosed in men who actually have sexually acquired nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), which in turn can cause UTI-like symptoms in women. Further, cipro is not the best drug for NGU. If your treatment has not included a tetracycline antibiotic (such as doxycycline) or azithromycin (Zithromax), you might discuss this aspect with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Urgent care said I had strep and he prescribed me a azithromycin and Diflucan for yeast (no swab). Well following Wed I was in tears when urinating from the urine touching my skin and knew I also had a uti. Went to hospital and doc said I had an std but had to wait 2 days. She gave me an iv of rocephin and prescribed me doxycycline. I took doxy as prescribed and informed partner. He got tested same day and I called two days later for results.
Avatar m tn The tests were done 26 to 27 days from my last sexual contact. I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all.
Avatar f tn This is your third or fourth question in the past few weeks about symptoms and treatment of UTI or possible STD. This is something that needs professional evaluation, as you were told before. Just do it.
