So, I went to get a urine test for STD’s and a UTI. Both tests came out negative (tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea.) Like I said, I’ve only had one partner since my antibiotic in july, and she was screened for STD’s before we ever had sex and she had nothing. The doctor that tested me a second time told me that it was most likely Non-Gonnococal Urithritis (NGU). However, her diagnosis didn’t seem too confident.

I've been having unprotected vaginal sex with a female. 15days ago I got minor amounts of whitish discharge coming from the tip of my penis, it was followed by stinging at tip of penis and mild burning/discomfort after peeing. I went and got an STI screening (urine test) (3rd day after initial symptoms), Came back negative for all sti's tested by urine, i also was told its Not a UTI. My partner has no symptoms.

My gyno also treated me with another dose of metro to take all at once to make sure the trich was gone. Since then I had cramps in lower abdomen. I later found out that it was an UTI. I was given macrobid but it did not work. I was then given a long dosage of Cipro and I feel much better but the cramps are somewhat there.

Both finish the medicaton. No sex without a condom. Test 3 weeks after medication is finished.

I'm 23 years old, 1/22/18 I tested positive for Chlamydia after experiencing UTI like symptoms and was prescribed 2 azithromycin 500 mg tablets from planned parenthood. Symptoms disappeared but then reappeared 3 months later and I returned and tested positive again and was pescribed doxycycline 100mg tabs once a day for 7 days. After treatment my symptoms continued to persist and I worried that I was still not cured.

and around 5 days later I had received my results back saying that it is negative for chlamydia which I was excited for but I still had symptoms, the same symptoms I have had for the past month and a half.

I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all. So is it possible that azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis? I hope my doctor knew what he was doing.

I went back to a clinic and got retested positive for chlamydia again 2 weeks later. Took azithromycin again with no relief. Went back another 2 weeks later to planned parenthood, she did a wet mount and said she saw white blood cells, so prescribed me doxycycline without running my urine since it could have been a false positive. Anyways, the doxycycline seemed to help the uti symptoms until it was finished, now I feel the same as before. Really confused???

I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor. I looked up the uses of azithromycin and saw that it could be taken for chlamydia. Unfortunately at that time I didn't read the prescribed dose, so I took 1000mg in the way that is recommended for travellers diarrhoea, two 250mg tablets Day 1, Day 2 + 3 one 250mg tablet.

6 days later drips gone burning persisted and I had a frequency to urine. I then took cipro for 10 days 500 mg, but the UTI moved to my prostate with red blood cells in my urine and symptoms of pain when defacating and cottage cheese like sperm. . I then took leviquin 750 mg for 7 days and it cleared the uti/prostatis. From all the antibiotics I got balantis from yeast. Just now getting over that.

I think we have a difference in dialect here. In the UK (not sure where poster is) Zpack is slang for Azithromycin. It’s not a name for a specific dosage. Interesting lesson learnt.

2) Would the azithromycin dosage he prescribed remedy NGU if I did have it? If this dosage would not cure NGU, am I able to immediately go to a STD clinic to get tested (while on azithromycin) or do I need to wait for a period after finishing the medicine to get accurately checked and tested? 3) Does alcohol diminish the effect of azithromycin ? I say this because I had 4 drinks one night two days after beginning the medicine. 4) Can NGU be passed to women?

I told him about the recommended therapy for NGU and had him RX me 1mg of Azithromycin which he told me that I could use "if I wanted to". However he wanted me to start Bactrim right away. I feel somewhat left in a limbo. My concern is that I didn't get the right antibiotic and that any bacteria infection could spread throughout the system; kidneys etc.

UTI is not a STD, try posting a UTI question in uriology. We don't deal with UTI's here.

Is it possible that the azithromycin didn’t work or is this possibly a UTI? My doc has told me to come back after 3 months for a chlamydia retest but should I go now? I took azithromycin on March 16.

question that maybe should not be asked; but is there any chance that the above azithromycin dosage would not have cured a possible STD and if so, what? Again thanks for a wonderful site that brings help and education to a lot of people!

I was initially diagnosed with uti and took bactrim for 4 days before I couldnt take the pain from going to bathroom. Any thoughts advice would be great.

thanks for the help my girlfreind went to the dr and was told she did have a uti that there was blood in her urine. i have started having some itching around the head of my penis and i fell like i am urinating more than usalluy. do i have reason to worry or is it just my mind playing tricks. also we each took about 2 grams azithromycin we had not sex while on the medication but had it a couple days after medication was taken. would that have cured anything?

It it that have taken azithromycin with is to cure chalmydia and gonnerea and not for UTI? How effective is it for UTI 2> I am still facing with semisolid stools. The frequency of going to stools is from 1 to 3 times max in a day? what the reason? 3> The burring in also after mastrubation and i do not have any burning while i am passing urine? 4> From past two days i am feeling cold in my penis / scrotum and both thigh near the groin area. 5> No pain while passing urine or stools?

I got tested again for gonorhea and chlamydia at plannedparenthood. they now gave me azithromycin 500mg single dosage. my body developed stomach cramps and mild diahrhea for 2 days.they told that i am still negative for STD's. but symptoms are still there. Burning sensation when i pee and pain in penis after pee. sometimes burning and itching too develops. frequent urge to urinate also. but no discharge or change in colour of urine. they suggested me to go to a primary care doctor.

I have started the normal dosage of azithromycin for it's common use (I am sick), but found out that someone I slept with may have had chlamydia in the past. Would the dosage of 500 mg per day for 3 days (total of 1500 mg) be effective for treating chlamydia if I have it? I have already talked the first 500 mg tablet today. Should I take 2 x 500 mg tomorrow? Or continue my current dosage?

I visited the doctor and he gave me azithromycin 1g. The pain was gone for 3 days after taking azithromycin but from the 4th day I started to feel that the discomfort and irritation was coming back Its been 9 days now and the pain in testicles is back but its not as intense as it was before i took the azithromycin, but i think the pain is growing everyday. I also want to mention that the doctor did not get me tested for chlamydia/gonorrhea as tests are not easily available in the country I am.

The symptoms seemed to come and go. They worsened around April, and I was diagnosed with chlamydia. I'm not sure when I contracted, but I believe it's possible I had it for a few months before being diagnosed.
