Azithromycin for ureaplasma

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin for ureaplasma

zithromax

Avatar m tn Went to urologist and got urin and blood-tested for almost all STDs (chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, Mycoplasma Hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma Genitalium, Ureaplasma parvum, Trichomonas vaginalis, Syphilis, and HSV-1 and 2). Only HSV-1 came back positive (31 COI), which i have been having oral ulcers with for many years. Everything else came back positive.
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed azithromycin and two and a half weeks weeks after finishing the treatment, a new test for ureaplasma came back positive again. My doctor ordered a basic antibiogram and it turns out that it has resistance for: tetracycline, doxycycline, erythromycin, azithromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin and clindamycin. My doctor said she was going to order a more extended antibiogram. Now, I am really scared that it could be resistant to all antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Me and GF had Azithromycin for Chlamydia. Few months after that she was diagnosed with Ureaplasma and Gardarella, while I am negative and was negative few months ago. Is she cheating? How could she have gotten these?
Avatar n tn Ureaplasma isn't an std, and if you haven't responded to the azithromycin and roxy, you need to follow up with your doctor. Have you been tested for other things, or been tested again to make sure the ureaplasma is gone? Perhaps you have something else going on that is causing this. In any case, you need to follow up with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Just to clear things up, I'm a man, it's not a big deal either way except it gives me a different perspective on these things. I did mention that 1g of azithromycin can have failures, but the truth is that still it will work most of the time. Actually azithromycin will nearly always work when it's taken for a longer period, like 500mg for 7 days. It's a good drug to use for treatment, it's just 1g is often not sufficient.
Avatar m tn My recommendation is it wait a couple of weeks since taking your antibiotics, do not have sex with anyone, and then test for Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Trichomonas. And here's some copy/paste info for you: Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma, Real-Time PCR http://www.labcorp.com/datasets/labcorp/html/chapter/mono/vm003300.htm Number 138778 CPT 87801 Trichomonas vaginalis, Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA): http://www.
Avatar f tn Day after i felt discomfort, frequent urinating and top of my penis (entrance) is swallen and red sometimes. Dr gave me 1000mg azithromycin and tested me for chlamidia, ureaplasma, micoplasma, all negative. Symptoms were still present but i waited 15 days and tested for chlamidia, ghonorea, micoplasma, ureaplasma, trich, all negative. I also tested ejaculate and they found klebsiella pneumonia so i took levofloxacin (500mg daily), and now it s 6th day i started with levofloxacin.
Avatar m tn The medical community throws their hands in the air and says there is nothing they can do for us. Look into Mycoplasma Genitalium and Ureaplasma. Although there is debate regarding these bacteria, it's been well published that M. Genitalium is an STD, but it's not screened for and is very difficult to erradicate. Also, were you treated with anything else after Azithromycine? Please keep us updated.
Avatar m tn Please take a look at my reply to your other posting. In it, I forgot to mention that if you do have some form of fungal infection, taking antibiotics very likely will make the infection and the symptoms worse, not better. Good luck!
Avatar m tn My discharge disappeared, however when both of our sets of tests came back EVERYTHING was negative (we werent tested for Ureaplasma though). Now, although the discharge is gone I still have this nagging feeling of urgency to urinate, even when my bladder is mostly empty. Because our texts were negative, because we took a course of antibiotics and because we are not seeing anyone else, myself and my partner have continued to have unprotected sex. My questions are: 1.
Avatar n tn I also had whitish discharge from my anus occasionally. I tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea, by both swab and urine. I was given azithromycin 1000mg and ceftriaxone IM 250 mg. The symptoms subsided after a few days, or at least I perceived them to. After waiting an additional week, I decided it was safe to continue to have unprotected sex with my long-term girlfriend (unaware of my infidelity), and was advised that it was ok to do so by my doctor.
Avatar m tn About 1 1/2 years ago I had sex with a girl and within a few days I was experiencing burning during urination and oozed disharge when pushing out poo. Went to doc and was tested for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea, test came back negative. Doc said symptoms were possibly because of Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma. I believe it was Azithromycin he prescribed, and the symptons went away. Fast forward to today. I had sex with my girlfriend a week ago.
Avatar m tn Gave me levofloxacin, doxycycline and Azithromycin. 7 days levo, 10 days doxy, 2 single dose Azithromycin . 1 week after treatment Ended symptoms came back suddenly. (1 month after risk event). just received culture for uretha swab indicates AB resistant mycoplasma to all antibiotics (AB) except for one doctor has never heard of (myocline? ) He then gave me Cipro 500g 2x a day which is just barely keeping symptoms under control. Still peeing a lot and mild uretha pain.
19078612 tn?1471987002 Yesterday I took this information to my Doctor and was given 4 tablets of Azithromycin 250 mg , as a single treatment for my exposure? So is that it? Only 1 single treatment for Men with Ureaplasma? Upon being discharged from my Doctors office, I was given in my packet of paperwork suggesting that my visit was for STD's. And even on a listing of symptoms and checklist of activities to avoid? But again, its not an STD !
Avatar n tn these have been giving me symptoms of frequent urination, irritation in the urethra i have heard of a few people having this for quite sometime and had every test possible only for a urologist to tell them he was testing them for Ureaplasma and she was positive and certain antibiotics cleared this. given the fact ive had the same symptoms as this person it does fit this is what i have as i have the same symptoms now as i did when i had the infections?
Avatar m tn The CDC recommends 1 gram orally of Azithromycin for M. gen and Ureaplasma. But, sometimes these organisms can be resistant. So, they recommend 2grams orally of metronidazole in a single dose for resistant M. gen and Ureaplama and to treat Trich. You can check their webpage out. Just look up nonspecific urethritis and CDC or Ureaplasma urealyticum and CDC and it will give you the information.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed doxycycline for ureaplasma infection and developed a red, itchy rash over my face and body with the first dose. My doctor switched me to azithromycin, which I took without problems. A few months later the infection is back, and the doctor wants to try minocyline instead. I got a itchy rash on my chin and my neck and arms are somewhat itchy after one dose. Am I experiencing allergies to these drugs or just side effects? Should I avoid tetracyclines?
Avatar f tn Also he said that there were Gardrenalla on the plate. For my bf he said he got only ureaplasma. Also we had antibiograms for them and with the doctors advice used azitromycin 500 mg ( 1000 mg at first day 500 mg at following 4 days). Doctor said that I should use metronidazole for harder Ella as I finish the azithromycin. We finished using azitro but our symptoms are not gone.
Avatar m tn There are three main casuses of non-chlamydial non-gonococcal urethritis. These are Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, and Trichomonas. They are not tested for with the typical battery of STD tests in the US, though they are in some other countries. Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Avatar n tn you said you got tested and came up positive for ureaplasma. Did you have symptoms? Or are you saying you were tested for Chlamydia? Reason being...I had discharge. I went to the doctor after taking 1g of Azrithromycin. Discharge was gone by time I saw docter. Yet, he prescribed me 3g of Azithromycin, 2g of Flagyl, and 500 mg X2 per day of Cipro. Killer diarrhea. Gave me an anal fissure....and frequency of urination, burn, and redness of penis tip were my symptoms.
Avatar f tn That's not a treatment for trich or GC, so its possible its one of those, which is why you need some testing.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with ureaplasma and prescribed azithromycin @250mg in the zpaktabs-6 tablets. I spoke to my doctor who consulted with other physicians and ANP's in her office, and I have been reading info on the internet about it (doc's advice), your site included. There seems to be much controversy in the medical community about this bacteria.
Avatar m tn Almost three weeks ago I started getting a discharge and a frequent urge to urinate with only small amounts coming out. At first I thought it was urinary and my doctor tested for a UTI. Nothing there, but put me on 5 days of cipro just in case. I went to get a ultrasound, no inflammation of the prostrate or bladder, all signs normal. My **** started burning and there was general irritation in the uretha, but no apparent blood in the ****.
Avatar m tn They told there and then i did not have gonoreha , but i had some bacteria show up on the slide and diagnosed nsu so treated me for clamydia, 1mg of azithromycin in a single dose, the urine sample came back negative for clamydia and gonoreha, since then i have been tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea again,Herpes,Mycoplasma Genitalium,Ureaplasma Urealyticum/Parvum,Trichomonas Vaginalis and Gardnerella/Bacterial Vaginosis, all came back negative, so what would the bacteria be and will i infec
Avatar m tn the role of Ureaplasma as a cause of STD symptoms is doubtful- Ureaplasma is normally present in the genital tract so testing for it and finding it does not mean your symptoms are related to it. As for M. genitalium, its significance is also debated and azithromycin cures the majority of cases. Researchers who work with these organisms emphasize there important but most experts in the field are far less sure that this is the case.
