Avatar f tn The doctor said I had a bit of discharge from my cervix and it looked like chlamydia or gonorrhea. I was prescribed 2000mg of azithromycin. Today is the 24th, my symptoms are gone and I'm awaiting test results. I had chlamydia (vaginally passed from a steady BF) a few years ago and I had absolutely no burning. I'm just wondering what else it could have been? My genitals felt like someone had thrown acid on it. One thing I suspect is a dlido.
Avatar m tn s and got tested for all STDs, including a swab test for oral gonorrhea. The doctor said the pain when urinating looked most likely like urinal tract infection due to chlamydia and I got prescribed azithromycin. While all tests results have not been out yet, I started feeling extra sore on the right side of my throat and pain of lymph nodes on the neck a few days after my visit to the doctor's. And then I found that now there are areas of white spots in my throat.
Avatar m tn What is the proper treatment for NGU or just Urethritis? Is 1gm of Zithromax the preffered and correct treatment? Or is another medication better? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I also had a tender lymph node on one side of my groin. Took prescription of 1g Azithromycin and Cipro for me as well as partner on 6/4. Since then her eyes have gotten worse, as has my painful urination. The discharge has increased and gone from clear to milky. We've been taking amoxicillin 500mg x 3 since 6/6 with no sign of improvement in any of the conditions. In fact, I am now developing the conjunctivitis!
Avatar n tn This study concluded that azithromycin 1g single dose was quite effective in curing gonorrhea. "This paper describes the efficacy of azithromycin 1g single dose in the management of uncomplicated gonorrhoea either with or without chlamydial co-infection. Three hundred and one patients were treated for gonorrhoea between January 2000 and June 2001; 226/301 (75.1%) were treated with azithromycin 1g stat dose while the rest were treated with different regimens. Ninety-seven of 301 (32.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. Hook. Thank you for your help. I have one more question. Tell me if I should pay again and I will do so. Today is 9 days after my treatment with 1 gr azithromycin for a possible, yet unconfirmed case of NGU. This morning when I woke up to use the bathroom, I noticed a very clear tiny drop of fluid at the tip of my penis. It looked like pre-***. I don't know if this is normal to happen to a guy after a "wet" dream or if I should be concerned.
Avatar f tn A few months ago (Novemeber to be exact), I shaved my pubic area and noticed some ingrown hairs shortly after. I ignored them, since I get them occasionally, and just hadn't shaved down there in order to further irritate it. Fast forward to december, and i started to have some minor irritation and itching in the area. I thought maybe i had some foliculitis, and since I had an upcoming appt. with my derm for a nonrelated issue, I figured I'd bring it up then.
Avatar n tn Dicloxacillin is a poor choice for any STD. It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
Avatar f tn I have staph infection a little above my pelvis but on my stomach. I was 3 days late for my period when j went to the doctors and they prescribed me antibiotics. I took a pregnancy test and it showed up negative but I am now 5 days late. Could this be from the staph infection??
Avatar f tn Hi, Recurrent boils or furunculosis are skin abscesses that may be caused by the Staph bacteria. In between outbreaks of boils, the bacteria responsible (staph) is still present on your body and thus may lead to recurrence. Talk to your doctor of a possibility of a chronic staph carrier so that proper prophylaxis may be done. Physicians have tried eradicating the staph by simply applying an antibiotic to the nose each month, and this approach sometimes is successful.
Avatar f tn She decided to go ahead and treat me with a one time 4 gram dose of azithromycin for the chlamydia and a weeks worth of acyclovir for the herpes. She said that she really thought it was herpes but that if I wanted to keep using the ointment until the lab results came back, just incase, I could. On the copy of the paper they gave me she wrote that I had a clear, whitish, discharge from my cervix. (I would like to add that i haven't noticed any strange smells.
Avatar n tn I was researching Trichomoniasis online and one website mentioned that Azithromycin is one treatment for it. Since I was given Azithromycin for the Chlamydia, would this have also cured the Trichomoniasis as well? If not, is there any way a doctor would prescribe me the Trichomoniasis medication without testing? I have read that a swab test is needed to diagnose Trichomoniasis, and I've heard swab testing is incredibly painful so I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Avatar n tn m taking metronidazole 500mg for the BV for 7 days. I took the azithromycin on the evening of the 16th. I have to mention that today the discharge is almost nonexistant, whereas before it was obscene. My partner lives in another state, as soon as I received my results I told him to seek treatment. I have another question. I missed my period which is very, very unusual. Could a missed period be due to the gonorrhea infection? My period is always early or right on time.
Avatar n tn current recommendations are you get the shot of ceftriaxone and oral azithromycin at the same time if you test + for gonorrhea. the 2 gm dose of azithromycin alone is only helpful for chlamydia at this point, not gonorrhea. if you were given just oral treatment for gonorrhea, you are supposed to retest any time after 1 week post treatment to see if it was effective or not. why does it fail?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 1g of azithromycin 3 weeka ago in the UK for chlamydia. Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste). After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).
Avatar f tn Hi, I was treated yesterday night with 2 grams of azithromycin for gonorrhea (25 year old female). Didn't have any symptoms, but knew a sexual partner had it. Couldn't take the shot because of a bleeding problem I have. I have pain in my back today. Can this be associated with PID? I was exposed 10 days ago. Going for a follow up in 10 days to make sure the pills worked, should I worry before then? Or give the meds some time to work?
Avatar m tn I did not think you could get an ngu from performing oral sex. I thought it had to be performed on you? Was their ejaculation involved? I have had similar symptoms, but have been told it has to be performed on you, to get an ngu. Any thoughts???
