Avatar f tn Hi, my doctor asks me to do home PPROM test to monitor PPROM. I'm 35 plus with a previous PPROM in first pregnancy. I like home testing but it's too expansive using current test from Parsagen Diagnostics. Do you know other home PPROM test? I also know two others.
Avatar f tn Ah, so very very sorry. Second trimester miscarriages are so very painful emotionally! The term for this is PPROM. It's not always clear why it happens but one reason may be an infection of the membranes. Smoking is a risk factor for this as is having an std. They may also want to check your cervix. You weren't far enough along for this to usually be the case but it still should be checked, if you had an incompetent cervix which can thin and then membranes rupture.
Avatar f tn Wow!! Thanks so very much for responding!! I guess I did not know how to check If I had any follow ups!! What's funny is that no one has ever been able to help me determine what I have. Recently I have researched vaious websites and I came across PPROM...but I still am unsure of what this exactly is!! Do you know what this is or anybody who has had this?? I wonder if it will ever be possible for me to carry?? In advance thanks for your friendship!! I'm so very greatful!!
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks with my second baby and had pprom at 33 weeks the first time. This time around is so different, I've got no braxton hicks, no discharge- is this normal for this gestation? Should I assume that I will carry full term this time?
Avatar f tn I am not diabetic. I am 21 years old. I had a son in 2015 but lost him due to pprom that caused a placenta abruption. I conceived him naturally with no trouble. Now it's hard and the doctor has no clue why. He said he wanted to try Metformin and Progesterone to see if it helps it's the least aggressive way to try to get pregnant. Anyone have experience with taking these and we're they effective in helping you get pregnant?
Avatar f tn My pregnancy was going fine. Then all of the sudden at my 21st week of pregnancy my water broke (PPROM) without any warning (no blood, cramping etc.) In fact I felt fine I was just shocked and wasn't even sure what it was. I admitted myself into the hospital. Most of my amniotic fluid had leaked out and the doctors told me there wasn't much of a chance. After about 6 days I went into labor and unfortunatley gave birth to a stillborn. After I had to have a D&C.
Avatar f tn im so sorry for all youve been through. did you have this baby tested? strep b can cause PPROM I just wonder if youve ever been tested for this or another infection.
Avatar n tn This study concluded that azithromycin 1g single dose was quite effective in curing gonorrhea. "This paper describes the efficacy of azithromycin 1g single dose in the management of uncomplicated gonorrhoea either with or without chlamydial co-infection. Three hundred and one patients were treated for gonorrhoea between January 2000 and June 2001; 226/301 (75.1%) were treated with azithromycin 1g stat dose while the rest were treated with different regimens. Ninety-seven of 301 (32.
Avatar n tn Dicloxacillin is a poor choice for any STD. It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
Avatar f tn re pregnant is associated with an increased risk of preterm birth and having a low-birth-weight baby, preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM), and uterine infection after delivery. A few studies show a connection between BV and second-trimester miscarriage. If you're diagnosed with BV, you'll be given a course of antibiotics that are considered safe to take during pregnancy.
5054970 tn?1362945800 I'm going through the same thing right now, (it's called a pPROM - preterm premature rupture of membranes). Drink water, and I mean guzzle that stuff, all day long. If you start bleeding call your doc, they'll probably want you on antibiotics to prevent infection. If you get an infection they will (according to my doc at least) deliver you immediately. Infection is bad for not only you but the baby because it can pass to the baby and cause all sorts of issues.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding and congrats to you too! How far along are you? I'm only 4-5w but my body is really pregnant again. The puking will begin any day...along with all that added fun!
949823 tn?1270832526 I had one with my last pg with DS and have mine scheduled for this pg on Friday... I got mine out at 34 weeks (I think) with DS and ended up having to be induced at 36 weeks for high bp. They did mine because I had a history of PPROM with DD, she was born at 30 weeks and because I had scarring on my cervix from a LEEP procedure, also because my cervix started shortening with him at 18 weeks. Hope you are feeling ok.
9326107 tn?1404192363 Your doctor told you this? Usually they only suggest this after 34 weeks, anything before and you're supposed to head to labor and delivery because youre at a risk for PPROM if you're water is leaking that early.
Avatar f tn Hi I had blured vision yesterday for few hours with numbness to my left arm and hand.
Avatar n tn I was researching Trichomoniasis online and one website mentioned that Azithromycin is one treatment for it. Since I was given Azithromycin for the Chlamydia, would this have also cured the Trichomoniasis as well? If not, is there any way a doctor would prescribe me the Trichomoniasis medication without testing? I have read that a swab test is needed to diagnose Trichomoniasis, and I've heard swab testing is incredibly painful so I'd like to avoid that if possible.
Avatar n tn m taking metronidazole 500mg for the BV for 7 days. I took the azithromycin on the evening of the 16th. I have to mention that today the discharge is almost nonexistant, whereas before it was obscene. My partner lives in another state, as soon as I received my results I told him to seek treatment. I have another question. I missed my period which is very, very unusual. Could a missed period be due to the gonorrhea infection? My period is always early or right on time.
Avatar n tn current recommendations are you get the shot of ceftriaxone and oral azithromycin at the same time if you test + for gonorrhea. the 2 gm dose of azithromycin alone is only helpful for chlamydia at this point, not gonorrhea. if you were given just oral treatment for gonorrhea, you are supposed to retest any time after 1 week post treatment to see if it was effective or not. why does it fail?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 1g of azithromycin 3 weeka ago in the UK for chlamydia. Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste). After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).
Avatar f tn Hi, I was treated yesterday night with 2 grams of azithromycin for gonorrhea (25 year old female). Didn't have any symptoms, but knew a sexual partner had it. Couldn't take the shot because of a bleeding problem I have. I have pain in my back today. Can this be associated with PID? I was exposed 10 days ago. Going for a follow up in 10 days to make sure the pills worked, should I worry before then? Or give the meds some time to work?
Avatar m tn The doses of azithromycin studies for treatment of chlamydia, NGU, and gonorrhea have been studied when the medication is taken as single doses. Thus, questions about doses taken at lower doses and on different schedules is difficult to answer and require estimation of their effectiveness as opposed to answers based firmly on scientific studies.
Avatar m tn It is possible for your infection to be resistant to azithromycin, the typical treatment for NGU. The Augmentin will have no effect on chlamdia, which is what I think your doctor suspects you have. Go back into the doctor. He/she will most likely do a culture and sensitivity to identify the infectious organism as well as determine what antibiotic or combination of antibiotics will work best.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient I would have some questions for you about the discharge--I would want to know if your water has broken. If so, you woudl have copious clear watery discharge. If the discharge is more whiteish and mucousy, it could be normal, or it could indicate that you are starting to dilate. Whatever the case, you should probably have it checked out to be sure it isn't your water. Good luck!
Avatar n tn The treatment for coinfection with both gononrrhoeae and Chlamydia is Azithromycin. It should work for both. Did you have an injection? However, some GC strains are very resistant. It would be good to get retested in about 6 weeks to make sure you are clear from both.
