I was researching Trichomoniasis online and one website mentioned that Azithromycin is one treatment for it. Since I was given Azithromycin for the Chlamydia, would this have also cured the Trichomoniasis as well? If not, is there any way a doctor would prescribe me the Trichomoniasis medication without testing? I have read that a swab test is needed to diagnose Trichomoniasis, and I've heard swab testing is incredibly painful so I'd like to avoid that if possible.

current recommendations are you get the shot of ceftriaxone and oral azithromycin at the same time if you test + for gonorrhea. the 2 gm dose of azithromycin alone is only helpful for chlamydia at this point, not gonorrhea. if you were given just oral treatment for gonorrhea, you are supposed to retest any time after 1 week post treatment to see if it was effective or not.

Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste).
After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).

The doses of azithromycin studies for treatment of chlamydia, NGU, and gonorrhea have been studied when the medication is taken as single doses. Thus, questions about doses taken at lower doses and on different schedules is difficult to answer and require estimation of their effectiveness as opposed to answers based firmly on scientific studies.
It is possible for your infection to be resistant to azithromycin, the typical treatment for NGU. The Augmentin will have no effect on chlamdia, which is what I think your doctor suspects you have. Go back into the doctor. He/she will most likely do a culture and sensitivity to identify the infectious organism as well as determine what antibiotic or combination of antibiotics will work best.

The treatment for coinfection with both gononrrhoeae and Chlamydia is Azithromycin. It should work for both. Did you have an injection? However, some GC strains are very resistant. It would be good to get retested in about 6 weeks to make sure you are clear from both.

I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
