I have read about overgrowth and did take cipro 500 mg daily for 5 days and came out of being so weak I could hardly walk episode!..the dr said just try and it helped..thank you! Thanks for the response. My diverticulitis is in the colon. My first attach was in 2007 and I have had a total of 10 attacks, uncomplicated, since then with only one hospitalization. Hi, I am new to this site. I've coped with diverticulitis for a few years now, living with the pain and its limitations. Now I've hit a wall and my G.P. has signed me off work. Can't believe how poorly I feel and the pain is constant. Having tests to eliminate anything sinister. Thing is I never lose time from work and have had 3 weeks off so far which is worrying me. The second time it was the diverticulitis plus a pneumonia in one lung. The third time it was diverticulitis plus pneumonia in both lungs. Each time my fever was above 105, so high that I don't even remember going to the ER.
