Avatar n tn In your case antibioitcs for acute or mild chronic infections can be prescribed safely for first line medications like Amoxicillin,Azithromycin where as Tetracyclines are absolutely contraindicated. Other adjunctive medications like nasal decongestants, bronchodilators, anti histaminics etc may have an alternative drugs which are proved to be safe with no minimal side effects in growing infants.
Avatar f tn Should i call my doctor and ask for another prescription to help? If so what should i ask for? Pain killer or what?
Avatar m tn I was exposed to Chlamdyia on the 13th of October and then treated for bronchitis with a z-pack (500mg the first day, then an additional 250mg for four days) on the 22nd of October. Would this be effective against the chlamydia as well, or should I seek additional treatment? I can't afford the azithromycin again, so I'd have to use doxycycline if that were the case. I'm a 20 year old male and have absolutely no symptoms of chlamydia.
354236 tn?1196905787 steroid for non - inflammatory and to revive immune system azithromycin antibiotic to eliminate bacteria possibly causing bronchitis prescription cough syrup to STOP the coughing which causes the severe chest pain inhaler for symptoms similar to asthma GOOD LUCK
Avatar m tn By Friday the symptoms were more obvious and I had some azithromycin that I had been prescribed a few months before for bronchitis but had never taken any because I got better on my own. So I took 4 pills 250 mg pills on a Friday night thinking it was chlamydia even before I got the results back. Turns out I find out Monday afternoon it was gonorrhea and chlamydia came back negative. I had had chlamydia before in my life, but never gonorrhea so wasn't educated on it...
Avatar m tn My 4 year old son was on Azithromycin for 5 days. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis. He was given breathing treatments for 1 week and Azithromycin. He started having stomach issues (upset stomach) at the time of taking Azithromycin. That was 6-7 weeks ago. He has continued to have these same issues. We've been to his pediatrician, had blood tests run (nothing abnormal). He was on Zantac for 1 week with no changes. We've had him on a probiotic for 4 weeks approximately with no changes.
Avatar m tn If it is in fact viral, the doctor wants to use azithromycin now to prevent possible respiratory infection or bronchitis. I have found a substantial amount of literature online that discusses how using azithromycin with QT prolonging drugs or other rhythm regulators can increase the QT interval and cause dysrhythmia. This relative was in the hospital before and after surgery due to rhythm problems. It took a while to adjust exercise and meds to balance everything out.
Avatar f tn I have bronchitis this week and the doc put me on antibiotics. I feel like sh*t, coughing up green **** and my chest hurts and my head is all stuffed up -- but on the other hand, I have to laugh about it! hahaha As bad as the bronchitis is -- it's a piece of cake compared to what the bipolar puts me through on a daily basis.
Avatar m tn If your present medications are not helping with the symptoms, it is best that you inform your attending physician for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may also be indicated. Treatment for bronchitis is usually supportive. And patients with underlying lung diseases such as asthma are usually at greater risk of developing recurring infection. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards.
8184612 tn?1397529944 I, all at once, took 4 out of 4 pills of Azithromycin 250mg tablets on 3/14 for the Chlamydia treatment and had diarrhea for a week. A week after (3/21) I got a little sick (light headed for 3 days) and my urethra was sensitive but I thought these were side effects. Now it is 4/7, my urethra is still a little sensitive (including just below the opening), warm, and my throat is now slightly sore and dry. I have no other symptoms and no discharge (but I am not circumcised so it is hard to tell).
Avatar m tn Last week I was diagnosed with bronchitis and my doctor prescribed me to take that same antibiotic that I took for 5 days, 250mg a day. Now will that antibiotic have cleared up both the bronchitis and chlamydia at the same time or do I need to get another dosage of another antibiotic?
Avatar m tn it was horrible, i woke up at night with trouble breathing. eventually the cold lessened. but i had bronchitis for like almost 3 weeks. i have taken antibiotics azithromycin but it didnt do much. after 5 days i was still miserable. i was put on it again for an extra 5 days but it just didnt work. finally my doctor put me on amoxicillin/Clav 875mg and that helped a little. and the bronchitis seemed to have cleared. then a week later my ears begin to hurt. the pain was pretty bad.
Avatar n tn Hello, Zithromax contains azithromycin and is mostly used for STD’s like non gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis. It is usually not the drug of choice for UTI but is mostly used in otitis media (infection of the middle ear), tonsillitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
242516 tn?1368227505 // When do I need antibiotics for bronchitis? Almost never. Doc, I can't stop coughing and am bringing up pus. Well, you're not alone. Millions of other people are in your shoes right now, and over 90 per cent of them have viral infections with coughs productive of colored phlegm.
Avatar n tn Z-Pack is a trade name for azithromycin, intended for 2 tablets (500 mg) on day 1, then 1 tablie (250 mg) each day for 4 more days. It is recommended and widely used for things like bronchitis, sinusitis, and certain skin infections. In a single dose of 1.0 g, azithromycin is one of the standard treatments for chlamydia. For gonorrhea, the 1.0 g dose isn't quite enough, as single dose treatment; but 2.0 g (eight 250 mg tablets) often works well.
Avatar m tn I'm still wheezing and have chest tightness when I exhale for 10 weeks now. I take Dulera/Singulair/Xopenex and Spiriva and sometimes Combivent. Is there a med like theophylline that can help me? I'm also having bad sleep apnea and am crippled by this and can't work or think because of my lung diseases. Is my sleep apnea caused by asthma or narrowed airway?
Avatar f tn I'm not sure why I'd miss a period - they have been gradually decreasing in flow since I started taking Yaz but this is the first time I've not had any sort of a period. I did have tonsillitis/bronchitis last week, so I was put on azithromycin for 3 days. Why did I miss a period? Should I be concerned about pregnancy? Advice is welcome :) Thanks!

Avatar m tn About ten days ago I was sick with bronchitis and was given an antibiotic(azithromycin) after the five days of taking it I started to feel much better. The last two days I started to feel sick again. I was having chest pain, shortness of breath and palpitations that were really fast at times and seemed iregular. I am still continuing to cough as well. So last night it got really bad again and I went to the ER where they did an ecg, chest x-ray and blood tests.

220917 tn?1309788081 Thanks for the title, but I really am just a plain 'ol MS'er that shares what she knows to anyone who wants to listen! :) 1. Does Lyme follow a relapsing-remitting pattern? YES! In my non medical opinion,,,people that are classified PPMS ( to borrow the term that one of my neuros helped coin, btw) would see a rapid decline in symptoms. Then people like me -RRMS as my neuro said I am; have an immune system that for whatever reason kept this bacteria at a tolerable level.
Avatar m tn A few weeks ago, I began experiencing a white discharge (tinges of yellow/green) so went to my local STD clinic for treatment for presumed chlamydia and gonorrhea. I got 1g azithromycin and had a urine test and swab culture done. The discharge stopped for two days then returned. When I called in for my results, I was informed that the tests both came back negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Avatar f tn Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
Avatar m tn For some more background - I am a non-smoker, exercise regularly, and have an active lifestyle. I teach children and may have contracted something from one of them - three weeks ago I lost my voice entirely for about 4 days. There was a mild fever associated with that, but it went away and the voice came back, but the mild sore throat and cough are left 3 weeks later.
Avatar m tn Whenever I went to doctor for cold, fever and cough, they mostly prescribe Cefixime 200mg or sometimes (Cefixime + Azithromycin). I felt amaze when I saw in the internet that antibiotics will not work for common cold and flu as they are viral infections. So is there any reason why most of the doctors prescribe antibiotics when we are suffered from common cold?
142452 tn?1262036275 And then my husband got it. Strangely enough, my son and my husband were given a prescription for azithromycin and their symptoms cleared up. As for me, I had terrible wheezing that always managed to disappear when I was at a doctor's office. Soon, the runny nose symptoms cleared up and I had extreme breathing problems. It felt like my lungs had a chemical burn of some kind. I had to breathe very shallowly to avoid coughing fits. I was coughing up clear, white and green mucous.
Avatar f tn I am on birth control and have been regularly for almost 5 years. I have bronchitis and was prescribed azithromycin. I had unprotected sex last night and want to make sure I'm safe to start the zpack today. I'm in the last week of pills and started my period this morning. Thanks!

Avatar m tn and I was told by the heart clinic to get checked for Celiac as well. ( Something to do while I wait for the heart results anyway lol) She also mentioned getting tested for thyroid many problems out there that mimic heart problems. Steeterwav - That feeling in the back of your throat is called post nasal drip. Mucus runs down from your sinuses into your can cause you to cough, swallow constantly, clear your throat, etc. The palpitations could be caused by anxiety.
