Avatar n tn Hi, Perioral dermatitis, a condition related to acne vulgaris, consists of red papules that may appear microvesicular that typically affect the nasolabial folds, perioral area or perioccular area. It usually affects women between the ages of 20 and 45. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perioral_dermatitis It is commonly caused by the use of fluorinated topical glucocorticoid steroids to this area.
Avatar f tn First with regards to your 2008 response to Acne Vulgaris, can the 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide facial cleanser, beta hydroxy acid, or the Salicylic acid be use on my legs? I have these symptoms on the tops of my thighs and they are starting to cause mild pain when I get "goose bumps" in the O.R. at work.
Avatar f tn So if I was you, I would discuss the risks of exacerbating your breakout with your dermatologist who should instruct you to refrain from using products designed for acne vulgaris (as most skin professionals concur with it doing more harm than good if it's Malassezia responsible and NOT bacteria). You're at a greater advantage than me as my GP won't even ACKNOWLEDGE that acne can be caused by yeast and not just bacteria!!

Avatar m tn Hello, Differin topical containing adapalene, is used for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris. A thin film of the gel should be applied, avoiding eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. It should help you and you should use it as prescribed. Also avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat your face dry.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to acne vulgaris. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often.
