zithromax

Avatar n tn its my 2mo and 2wks day of this infection. i tried quinnolones and the recent was doxycycline but im not well yet. what other med shud i take?
Avatar m tn Is there a difference between azithromycin 250mg and 500mg, even if they are added up to the same exact dosage? Would 1000mg of azithromycin (from a zpack) cure chlamydia is my question.
Avatar f tn Hey, Zpack works differently for different illnesses. Years of studies have shown the best treatment for chlamydia is 1g taken at once. That doesn't mean that a higher dosage won’t work, it’s just proven not to be as effective.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with mild NGU although I am still waiting for my Chlamydia and Gonorrhea results. I have been given one single dose of azithromycin (1 g) . It has been four days now, and when i urinate there is still a burning sensation. I have not had any discharge at all. Before (Hours before) I have the burning feeling when I urinate, I also have a feeling of pressure/pain at my pelvis. 1.
Avatar m tn how long do you think it would take to normally clear up after you take the 1.0grams of azithromycin. In fact, come to think of it. I think I actually took 1250mg in one go of it to be extra sure.
Avatar f tn I took 1g azithromycin to treat chlamydia, and my gf took it 24 hours later. 36 hours after she took it, we had unprotected sex (last night). Can I take 1g more this morning to prevent a possible reinfection?
Avatar m tn IN MOST CASES, 1G. OF AZITHROMYCIN IS ENOUGH TO TREAT CHLAMYDIA, ESPECIALLY IF LOCATED IN PENIS OR VAGINA. SOMETIMES ONE NEEDS TO GIVE A HIGHER DOSE IN THE CASE OF ANAL OR THROAT CHLAMYDIA. HOWEVER A SMALL NUMBER OF CASES REQUIRE A ONE WEEK COURSE OF DOXYCYCLINE, ESPECIALLY IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST AFTER THE SINGLE DOSE OF AZITHROMYCIN. -Its now 18 days after treatment, so how safe is it to have sex with my wife again?
Avatar n tn You really need to talk to your doctor about it. There are other meds available, but I'm hesitant to list any in the event that you try to self-treat and give yourself a severe reaction. Where did you get tested for chlamydia? Does that doc know that you have all the allergies?
Avatar n tn Well, that's the dosage for chlamydia. If it was a bacteria from anal to vaginal, the dose would have been different. I would say the doctor was thinking the "nasty bacteria" you all were sharing is chlamydia.
Avatar f tn Ok so i was treated for Chlamydia [havent got results back yet] with the 4 pink pills called Azithromycin [one time dosage]. My symptoms were itchy penis and i had discharge coming from my penis. I was treated for Chlamydia and my symptoms pretty much went away i still have very mild discharge [only in the moring] its been almost a week since i was treated, is this normal? should it be complety gone already?
Avatar f tn I had gotten a checkup and chlamydia came poisitive. I had gotten a one time dosage to treat it I believe it was Azithromycin. I noticed discharge silk had yellow tint still two weeks later I got my period and still after sill was the same. I went once more to the doctor and I came out with negative for chylamydia. I’m in awe because if it’s negative why do I still have this discharge that has an odor to it that , kind of feels like it goes down randomly?
Avatar f tn Can anyone help me please! I know the standard dosage for chlamydia is 1g of azithromycin usually 2 x 500mg pills, my question is would 500mg over 3 days cure the chlamydia as it's over the 1g?
Avatar n tn If you took azithromycin in one dose, that would take up to around 7 days to fully work. If you took doxycycline for 7 days, it will be cured by the time you are finished those meds. I'm guessing, maybe, that you were being treated for chlamydia and had sex too soon. If that's the case, your partner should be told to test. If your partner was being treated and you had sex too soon, you should test.
Avatar f tn I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor. I looked up the uses of azithromycin and saw that it could be taken for chlamydia. Unfortunately at that time I didn't read the prescribed dose, so I took 1000mg in the way that is recommended for travellers diarrhoea, two 250mg tablets Day 1, Day 2 + 3 one 250mg tablet.
Avatar f tn t be able to tell you his diagnosis yet, but if he has chlamydia, they have to, by law, at least tell you that you are a contact to a confirmed chlamydia infection.
Avatar m tn This is a good question and the answer is that this is almost certainly effective therapy for chlamydial infection, HOWEVER, treatment of chlamydia with azithromycin has not been formally studied using this dosing schedule. Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose.
Avatar m tn my girlfriend and i both took 4x250mg azithromycin to treat chlamydia 15 days ago. we waited 10 days (recommended was 7) before resuming sexual intercourse (unprotected). i had mild burning in the penis before taking the medication and still have mild burning, and now some slight pain in the lower abdomen. retesting is booked for 15 days from now. i am wondering if these symptoms are normal post medication or if the medication hasn't worked?
Avatar f tn He got tested and he was positive for Chlamydia. I went to my Gynecologist and she treated me for Chlamydia because I never had any type of STD ever. I took the Azithromycin last week Wednesday and a few days later I am experiencing an odor. I have had BV before so I know what’s that’s like but a STD I don’t know what to expect or what is next. Can someone tell me do I need to be treated for BV even if the Azithromycin is still working in my body.
Avatar n tn I guess I should rephrase. Would the dosage given clear up NGU that is not caused by Chlamydia? I'm not sure what the failure rate of urine test is, but I am guessing that testing after a week would typically generate a low false negative result for chlamydia and gonorrhea? I gave a beginning stream sample and waited right at an hour before urination. Am I correct to assume that I should be most concerned with a non-chlamydial NGU? The doctor had gonorrhea in his mind for some reason.
Avatar m tn 2) Would the azithromycin dosage he prescribed remedy NGU if I did have it? If this dosage would not cure NGU, am I able to immediately go to a STD clinic to get tested (while on azithromycin) or do I need to wait for a period after finishing the medicine to get accurately checked and tested? 3) Does alcohol diminish the effect of azithromycin ? I say this because I had 4 drinks one night two days after beginning the medicine. 4) Can NGU be passed to women?
Avatar m tn I went back to the clinic and they said it should be no way I still have chlamydia but they saw that I had a massive amount of discharge in my penis(which I am assuming came about because I was off of medication) so they gave me another 1g dosage of Azithromycin and also a 4 day dosage of Azithromycin to take over the next 5 days(starting the next day since I had just taken the 1g of Azithromycin).
Avatar m tn I read on this site it can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics, which may be administered in a single dose or taken over the course of a week. I should be able to buy Azithromycin over the counter here. Is that the right stuff to use and can you tell me the dosage please, or let me know the right antibiotic to buy.. Please help..
Avatar m tn I went to the doc for a urinalysis which came back positive for chlamydia. I was prescribed a dosage of Azimothrycin which cleared up all the symptoms, however approx. 10 days later I continued to feel a slight burning sensation in the tip of the penis when I urinate, but only in the morning. This sensation, although nowhere near as bad as what I experienced when I was diagnosed, continued to persist after treatment. Approx.
Avatar f tn So, in late July of 2017 I was tested positive for chlamydia after having suspectible symptoms. I took the given dosage of azithromycin and my symptoms were gone within the next week or so, as expected. Months later (Early December 2017) I began to have discomfort in my testicles, not necessarily pain, but mostly somewhat of a ‘pressure’ feeling. I also had slight discomfort during urination as well, but only in the morning and it was very mild.
