I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
I was diagnosed with Chlamydia about a week ago. They gave me Azithromycin, 4 tablets at 250mg to take all at once. I took them and have severe stomach cramping and nausea, and ended up getting sick about 45 to an hour after taking the last pill... hoping that I would have already digested it before I got sick. The stomach pain lasted the rest of the day. It's been about 3 days now since I have taken it, but I still have that "burning" sensation after I urinate.
I just tested positive for chlamydia & I was given the powder (azithromycin) as treatment. I drank it with a full bottled water (16 oz.) & come to find out I was only supposed to drink it with 2 oz. should I worry? What should I do?

This is a good question and the answer is that this is almost certainly effective therapy for chlamydial infection, HOWEVER, treatment of chlamydia with azithromycin has not been formally studied using this dosing schedule. Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose.

A couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with Chlamydia. I took the Azithromycin that I was given, and went back for another check a couple of weeks later, because I was still getting symptoms. The second set of swabs showed that I still had Chlamydia, and was this time given a 7 day course of Doxycycline to take. About 2 weeks after this, I was hospitalised for severe abdominal pain, leaving me curled up in a ball on the ground wailing.
If you took azithromycin in one dose, that would take up to around 7 days to fully work. If you took doxycycline for 7 days, it will be cured by the time you are finished those meds.
I'm guessing, maybe, that you were being treated for chlamydia and had sex too soon. If that's the case, your partner should be told to test. If your partner was being treated and you had sex too soon, you should test.
I noticed discharge from my penis and immediately went to the doctor and received 1 g of Azithromycin treatment for Chlamydia. I had diarrhea ~5 hours after I took the azithromycin. Was the antibiotic absorbed into my system or did it pass out with diarrhea?
I am a 19 year old female. My doctor prescribed me 500mg Azithromycin for 3 days. But everywhere I am reading says I’m supposed to take 1g of Azithromycin which was not what I was prescribed. I got retested after 6 days and I’m still positive. I haven’t had sex since being positive the first time. Can anyone help?????
This is the latest of a handful of studies in recent years questioning the efficacy of azithromycin against rectal chlamydia. Single-dose AZM remains a routine recommendation, but some STD specialists indeed have more confidence in doxycycline. Probably the best approach is for you to have another rectal swab NAAT test, at least a month after treatment (and have no receptive anal sex until then); but some experts might go along with re-treatment with doxy.

I have recently been diagnosed with mild NGU although I am still waiting for my Chlamydia and Gonorrhea results. I have been given one single dose of azithromycin (1 g) . It has been four days now, and when i urinate there is still a burning sensation. I have not had any discharge at all. Before (Hours before) I have the burning feeling when I urinate, I also have a feeling of pressure/pain at my pelvis.

He got tested and he was positive for Chlamydia. I went to my Gynecologist and she treated me for Chlamydia because I never had any type of STD ever. I took the Azithromycin last week Wednesday and a few days later I am experiencing an odor. I have had BV before so I know what’s that’s like but a STD I don’t know what to expect or what is next. Can someone tell me do I need to be treated for BV even if the Azithromycin is still working in my body.
when taking azithromycin for Chlamydia or Gonnorhea, how long does it typically take symptoms to subside? i know often times with taking this drug or a similar one for something like a sore throat the symptoms may go away almost over night. is this the case in this situation as well? thanks a lot!
Well, that's the dosage for chlamydia. If it was a bacteria from anal to vaginal, the dose would have been different.
I would say the doctor was thinking the "nasty bacteria" you all were sharing is chlamydia.
I was prescribed 1g of azithromycin 3 weeka ago in the UK for chlamydia.
Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste).
After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).

Yeah along with a 7 to 10 day course of Doxy for Chlamydia.
Ok so i was treated for Chlamydia [havent got results back yet] with the 4 pink pills called Azithromycin [one time dosage]. My symptoms were itchy penis and i had discharge coming from my penis. I was treated for Chlamydia and my symptoms pretty much went away i still have very mild discharge [only in the moring] its been almost a week since i was treated, is this normal? should it be complety gone already?
Welcome to the Forum. The azithromycin therapy you each took is amongst the most effective therapies we have. There is only one case of azithromycin resistance in chlamydia reported in the entire world's literature and some people question that.
I know azithromycin is used to get rid of chlamydia , but say you have a false positive test (you dont really have chlamydia) but still take the azithromycin, can you then acquire chlamydia from taking the antibiotics ?
Hi there, I recently had unprotrated sex with a friend who potentially has Chlamydia, out of paranoia I went and got 1000mg of Azithromycin and took that. How long will it take the azithromycin to kill the bacteria and if I took it 3-4 days after the sex would the anti biotics be affective?
The treatment for coinfection with both gononrrhoeae and Chlamydia is Azithromycin. It should work for both. Did you have an injection? However, some GC strains are very resistant. It would be good to get retested in about 6 weeks to make sure you are clear from both.
