Azithromycin bladder infection

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin bladder infection

zithromax

Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and he said it might be an infection of my urnairy tract system he prescribed me azithromycin 6 day medication. I think my anxiety is making it worst or overthinking. Does anyone feel the same?
Avatar m tn I think Zithromax is fine for CHY, but thinking 1500MG would not be enough for GH and the test may have been negative as a result but the infection could actually come back because the original medication prescribed was not adequate.
Avatar m tn i've had recurring urethritis for about 2 years now and don't seem to be getting anywhere. This latest bout started about 6 weeks ago and i left it for a while as the symptoms were mild - no burning just an occasional mild irritation in the middle of the urethra. It would feel like pressure or a tickle midway down.. I noticed I'm peeing a lot more and the urgency is definitely increased. I went to the local GUM and was diagnosed with NSU.
Avatar m tn 36 hours ago I was given a full range of STD tests and given azithromycin for presumptive chlamydia. I'm a man (sex was vaginal/oral) and I have most of the typical symptoms of chlamydia (pain in urethra, testicles), MINUS discharge and PLUS persistent pain in my lower pelvis, around my bladder (I think). I've read that true UTIs in young men are quite rare. So, two questions: 1) Is pelvic pain in men a normal symptom of chlamydia, or an indication that something else is going on?
Avatar m tn I am Male 42, from Pakistan I had unprotected sex vaginal and slight anal penetration once (big mistake ) with a sex worker on 27 Sept 13, on 29 Sept I felt severe itching in my groins and irritation in anus. I took 750 mg Azithromycin 29 sept night followed by 250 mg Azithromycin with 400 mg cefixime on 30 Sept morning. I waited for 24 hours The symptoms didn't resolve rather I started having severe irritation after peeing.
Avatar n tn during those early symptoms of tingling, burning during urination and frequent urination, i was given antibiotics that was suppose to cure whatever it was causing it. well it didnt, and i suffered a lot from it. the antibiotics i took were azithromycin, oflox, cipro, and last doxy. all of them for 1 weeks 2 a days except for the azithromycin which was taken only once of 1g i believe.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and got tested and as a precaution he gave me a shot of rocephin and 2 pills 500 mg of azithromycin. In a week my symptoms were gone but my tests for infection came back negative so i slept with the girl again and the next day my symptoms all came back. I've taken doxicyclin (one week), ciproflaxin(one week) and azithromycin(one week) with very little success. My symptoms seem to have went down a little with the azithromycin but have not left me.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain. I have had my gall bladder removed, part of my small bowel removed (due to endometriosis), mesh put in my abdomen from a hernia and a hysterectomy. My last surgery was approx 3 years ago. Since then, I have had loose yellow bowel movements, chronic pain in my abdomen, shoulders, knees, feet and hands. Cymbalta helped but caused constipation. With that being said and the research I have done, my question is: Is it possible that I have fibromyalgia?
Avatar m tn I went to get a ultrasound, no inflammation of the prostrate or bladder, all signs normal. My **** started burning and there was general irritation in the uretha, but no apparent blood in the ****. The discharge, I noticed, looked a bit like mucous or precum. I remembered my ex-girlfriend, my last partner, who I was with 3 months ago, had ureaplasma urealitycum, but the doctors said it was nothing to worry about and normal.
Avatar f tn Doctor immediately put me on Metronidazole and single dose of Azithromycin. Before I started the treatments, there was white discharge and fishy odor but no urge to constantly pee even after I had just emptied my bladder. After treatments, the discharge and odor has gone away but I now have a constant urge to pee and when I go to pee it’s very little and there is very slight burning. Is it possible that the azithromycin didn’t work or is this possibly a UTI?
Avatar n tn Your probability of infection during the encounter you describe is minimal. The azithromycin you had last taken 2 days earlier would still be in your body and would prevent infection from occurring. You negative tests for chlamydia prove that you do not have chlamydia so this is not something you need be concerned about. In addition, the symptoms you describe are not consistent with chlamydial infection either, particularly the back, leg and arm pain.
Avatar m tn Hi, around 4 days ago I got sore throat following by a few mouth ucler (2 on the tongue). Then after 2 days (yesterday morning) my upper lip went a bit numb and really dry. Today the numbness is gone but still extremely dry no matter what I do. So in the afternoon I went to the doctor, and he told me I have an infection, didn't say anything else and prescribe me with "Azithromycin Monohydrate Tables". The problem is now my left eyes is completely red and a bit itchy.
Avatar m tn I had my gall bladder checked out 10 years ago and nothing was found. I coincidently have drank regulary for the same amount of time since I was 19. My liver function tests all come back normal, as I have one done every year, however, the last test a year ago showed a little elevated, in the high 40's. During an ultrasound fatty liver was discovered. I am also overweight.
Avatar m tn That said, if you were tested with a reliable test and had a positive result, you had chlamydia. Azithromycin is thought to be highly effective for treatment of chlamydial infection although one recent report has suggested that the treatment failure rate may be increasing slightly (despite this, the vast majority of chlamydial infections will still be successfully treated with azithromycin).
Avatar m tn Of course condoms should be routine for casual or non-monogamous sexual encounters involving vaginal or anal intercourse, but a brief unprotected exposure like yours is unlikely to result in any infection, even if your partner had an active STD. While I would not have recommended azithromycin without prior testing, it probably did no harm and provided good protection against gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, and syphilis. Azithromycin commonly causes the gastrointestinal symptoms you experienced.
Avatar n tn Would this still be effective in treating a gonorrhea infection if one was present? I have recently read about Azithromycin resistance in gonococal bacteria. Thank you Doctor.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected sex in November while taking clomid (I was coming off a steroid cycle), a week or so later I had what some bladder/urethral discomfort so I panicked and took tetracycline for a week, but this made it feel worse so I got an std screen done (results were negative) and was treated for chlamydia and gonnorhea since then the urethral itch/burning has continued (no lumps, bumps, or blisters to report) and seems to get worse if I eat sugary foods or drink alcohol, thoughts?
Avatar n tn I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
Avatar n tn Bacterial cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder, caused by bacteria entering the bladder via the urethra. Bacteria are the most common cause of cystitis, and may be introduced into the urinary system for many reasons. Infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause symptoms similar to cystitis, particularly when they are present in young, sexually active men. You are on the right antibiotics. Plesae continue on the same. Refer: http://www.cobfoundation.org/BC/bacterialCystitis.
Avatar m tn The important symptom is having a puss discharge like you had before. If you are having this it is a symptom of an infection but only testing would confirm what it is. Normally if treatment fails the same symptoms would appear in the same time frame which is about 5 days.
Avatar m tn Also get repeat tests done to check for any persistent Chlamydia infection or for recurrent Chlmydia infection as it may be presenting silently without any symptoms. Lastly get your vitamin D levels, a complete hemogram and your thyroid profile test done for dizziness and mental tiredness and fatigue. E. faecalis is resistant to many commonly used antimicrobial agents but it may respond to Vancomycin. Treatment options for vancomycin-resistant E.
Avatar n tn Hey there, so my partner and I recently went for std screening and we both tested positive for Chlamydia, (early stages) Got recommended Azithromycin for 5 days. Now she couldn’t start even I started mine but I finished my dose and a day after (her own 3rd day) I fingered her and also tasted it alongside her. I just want to ask if I’d have to restart my medication again in case I got reinfected through that (I don’t know if it counts as an exposure) .
Avatar m tn This is a good question and the answer is that this is almost certainly effective therapy for chlamydial infection, HOWEVER, treatment of chlamydia with azithromycin has not been formally studied using this dosing schedule. Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose.
4476664 tn?1361632949 I was told I have slightly elevated nitrate, which could mean a bladder infection, but it was caught early enough for me not have any symptoms. Doc is prescribing me some meds that I will be taking for seven days.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that I have a bladder infection type:strep which can cause problems and can affect your baby. Does anyone know more or has had a kid and had this?
