avinza vs opana

My daughter was told at her pain clinic that she could not build a tolerance to Avinza. My daughter has to be taken off of Avinza and put on something else for a while and go through terrible withdrawl, including restless leg syndrome, then she sees the nurse again and has to argue with her to get her to put her on Avinza again.

Is morphine (avinza) a stronger narcotic than percocet? I have 60 mg tablets of avinza, so if I take one of those, is that like taking 6 of the percocet 10/325?

Hi there, I have tried many pain meds (chronic pain from brain surgery 3.5 year ago), Opana ER being one of them. I did NOT have a good experience: it chronically made me feel so slow and groggy, that I thought I as going to fall over. I think I fell asleep out of the blue often times. Like many pain meds there is always the lovely constipation issue, but that passes.

anyone have any problems with Avinza? (morphine sulfate extended release). My dr said that it had an antagonist that made it non addictive. He prescribed it to me alone with Norco (high dosage)- I stopped taking both, and it's been 6 weeks, but I'm still struggling.

The last time I asked about this, he gave me more pills and tried more meds (Avinza, Opana). I just want to be done with opiates all together. At the point I'm at now, 4.5 pills at once do not a)touch the pain b)give me the "ahhhh" feeling I once got. Does anyone have any advice or opinions on what to take to make the withdrawls, well NOT HELL!! I am so scared of w/d I have cried and cried for the last 2 days just thinking about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Hi everyone, I was recently taken off my usual pain med regimine of 75 micr of Fentanyl Patch every 48 hours and 4 mg hydramorphone ( dilauded) 4-6 times a day.

My doctor recently put me on opana ER 40 mg., too be taken twice daily. I've been taking this medication for approximately two weeks. Since I've started this medication, I find myself drooling one drop of saliva uncontrollably, it just comes without notice and is very embarrassing. This has never happened before. Also, six days ago, I had a stroke. I'm only 42 yrs. old, with no history of high blood pressure nor anything else that could possibly cause one to have a stroke.

My PM doctor's nurse put me on various drugs until Avinza, then I stayed on it for the last few years. I have severe, life threatening Respiratory problems and my memory is getting much worse. I am 100% disabled from a car wreck. I am medically retired. My wife is here with me, so I am not alone. I got my dosage down from a high of approximately 450-500 mg a day to 30mg of Avinza a day. Oxycodone is for BT pain. I took my last Avinza at 10pm Sat, July 19.

I think they are developing an Oxymorphone nasal spray, which has a BA of~40%. I've always had the best results with Opana/Oxymorphone (vs Oxycodone) because it lasts longer, it is more "targeted" and hits the right receptor(s) that helps my pain without the "rush" or euphoria Oxycodone seems to produce for me. Oxycodone gives me energy (part of the euphoria, I suppose) and it makes it tougher to sleep.

It seems alot of pain patients are rejecting the new formula of Oxy, and replacing it with Opana, (which I understand to be just time release dilaudid), when I ask why the rejection of the new Oxy OPs (?) they have stressed that the ingredient to make the OPs tamper proof can cause major problems with possible pulminary embulisms, and an assortment of other organ break down effects, ,,, I know its taking me a minute to get to the question part..

Can you build up a tolerance to avinza? After taking avinza for several months, my daughter just didn't get any relief from it anymore. She quit taking it for a while and then started using it again and it's working. The pain clinic nurse practioner say's that you cannot build up a tolerance to it.

My best friend of 13 yrs just got prescribed avinza. Not sure of dose. He has been trying injection of pills. I think he is injecting avinza. Is that possible. What are signs or symtoms. He needs help.

I tapered down from very high doses a few years ago, but just 2 months ago, reduced down another significant amount (from 120mg Avinza and 20 oxy to 60 ms contin only). Now I'm tapering to 30mg. Pain is a real enemy, but withdrawal, even tapering, is rough. The 1st drop was too large probably - took 12 days to get past the bad symptoms. But now, I feel like I'm just prolonging this. Yet I need to be able to function! Not sure how this will go!

Hi, everybody. Has anyone in the group had experience with Opana? Or know what's in it? I was on a couple of versions of extended release morphine, first Avinza, and then Kadian, with moderate impact. My PM doctor suggested that because the system gets used to a drug, its effectiveness can decline over time, thus requiring more of the med to accomplish the same result.

Has anyone had any withdrawl problems with Avinza if they miss one day of medication??

ive been on opana for about 8-9 months about 40-80 mil a day but im wanting to quit so bad they r ruining my life and have hit a al time low. i cant do anything without doing one before i leave the house then all im worried about is how im gonna get another so i dont gert sick during the day. im off work for the next two weeks and thought that that would be a great time to get off of them.

s a day and liked the Avinza so much better. Avinza is basically 24 hour time release Morphine. I take two 90 mgs caps every morning. And it keeps me from going into wds and gives a good base of coverage.. way way better than I had for the year I was on the patches.

when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?

Ive been on oxycodone-acetaminophen 5-325 (percocet) needing something better 4 pain. My doc just put me on opana ER 5 mg tab. The opana doesnt seem to work. which is suppose to work better and does opana work well?
