Avatar n tn Sometimes it takes a while to feel lousy. Take a photo of your rashes and keep taking photos as long as there are changes. Keep all the photos -- cell phones photos are fine as long as they are clear enough to see. If the scale/size of the rash isn't obvious from the photo, then I'd hold a ruler next to the rash so the ruler shows in the photo how big the rash is. MDs get really interested when there is show AND tell. Look online for Lyme rash photos and see what you think. And ...
Avatar m tn I am so sorry that information about lyme disease and its dangers is not yet out there enough for everyone. I believe you have Lyme Disease (a 10 year sufferer here) You need to be tested asap. See if you can get your family practitioner to send your blood to Igenex. I had bells palsy just after my diagnosis. Not sure where you are in NJ but I am in northampton county PA and have an excellent family practitioner not to far from Belvidere, NJ if your interested.
237053 tn?1258828426 She has put me on a two week course of Augmentin. I was curious that if I did have Lyme would this antibiotic help? Also, does everyone Herx when they start treatment on antibiotics? I'm not even sure if this type of antibiotic would even have an effect on Lyme (if that is what I have). Just curious.
Avatar f tn I told her to check for everything that is why she checked and then the Lyme came out positive on both tests. I have hear that HIV can make a Lyme disease test mess up ( I have read it online) also other diseases and bacteria can too. I am just very worried because I have no recollection of any "bites" or any rash what so ever on my body at all. I have been going crazy with this anxiety and haven't slept much at all and wake up about every hour.
Avatar n tn Probably since you do have the main band for Borrelia that is positive I would hope that an infectious disease doctor would treat you the right way for Lyme. However, I'm not sure if they would treat you as long term as you may need. I have come to have a more open mind about Lyme after having a friend get it. Well, some Staph are more virulent and of course more resistant to antibiotics than others. So it may not all be due to being immuno compromised.
Avatar m tn ve had full blood work including testing for Mono, Lyme, Parvo, Thyroid, urine culture, blood culture, sugar, electrolytes, kidney/liver functions all normal/negative. I did have Strep Group G and Group C though symptomatic (apparently that means no big deal to the doctors) and was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics (Augmentin; Cefdinir) I've gone on a low sugar, no caffeine, no dairy diet and taking a daily, d3, garlic supplement and probiotic.
Avatar f tn s and have been reinfected with Lyme twice since then. Lyme disease can have all of the above symptoms you mentioned. Lyme can make you feel like you are dying. And can also magnetize Anxiety disorder by 100% And also can take a long time to feel better. Weeks Month or even years. I know I've been sick with it for 15 years. But went undiagnosis for Lyme for many years . So it went into the Chronic Stage.I have had every symptom you are mentioning and so much more.
Avatar f tn t think to test for it, and the testing in general for it is very inaccurate- it only picks up on 50% of the cases of Lyme Disease. There is a great Lyme Disease section right here on MedHelp. I think you should go in there and post your symptoms. They are very knowledgeable in that forum and I think looking into Lyme Disease as a serious possibility would be in your best interest! People get bitten by ticks everyday and don't even know they were bitten, it happens all the time.
Avatar f tn Well after the positive lyme test, their daughter refused to accept the lyme diagnosis and treatment for lyme. Why ? Because she was already addicted to painkillers and I think the lyme disease had by then affected her decision making (as well as all of the drugs she had been taking). This young woman had been taking so many painkillers, that when the producers and camera crew arrived at her apartment to film her, they found her unconscious on the floor.... glass shattered around her !
Avatar f tn Are positive Lyme Disease Titers registered in the chronic stage of the disease?
Avatar m tn Many docs say it is, but there is a substantial minority opinion that Lyme is a much more complex disease than run-of-the-mill infections and requires much longer treatment, because the Lyme bacteria have particular characteristics that allow them to evade a short course of abx: the Lyme bacteria have a very slow reproductive cycle, and antibiotics are effective mostly when the bacteria are dividing, therefore a longer course of treatment is called for, as is done in tuberculosis (usual treat
Avatar m tn I was tested for lyme disease over a year ago by my family physician. Test results came back negative. I was reading an article in a magazine concerning symptoms of lyme disease and everything listed as symptoms I seem to have. I am trying to find a specialist in my area who is knowledgable in this area. Should I have another blood test done to see if things have changed?
Avatar f tn And what I meant by doing another western blot is that ive read sometimes doctor give you a trail run of antibiotics if they are not sure if you have Lyme Disease and it might produce a positive IgG if I did have lymes disease...
Avatar f tn I also got good news that I am to finish my current box of Bicillin (penicillin) shots and then switch to an oral long lasting Augmentin (penicillin). I took Augmentin 875 for a week when I first got sick, not knowing what I had, and I recovered from my severe flu-like symptoms in a couple of days. It worked great. I don't finish my shots until early January, but I am glad to know the end is in sight. I will no longer feel like a pin cushion!
Avatar m tn like this because I stay very active and eat well. Does it seem possible that I could have Lyme Disease even though my tests have been negative?
326184 tn?1348809108 If you have Lyme disease, can it cause lesions in the brain..? could it be Lyme disease? Is a test for this done when ms is suspected or does it have to be ask for? Thank you in advance for any responses.. I have joined many different areas on MedHelp under cantsleep2007..
Avatar m tn He has been on Doxycycline for a week now, even though his results for Lyme were negative. Is it normal to have negative results if you do have Lyme disease? Is it normal for a fever to last for weeks. When can he expect to start feeling better? Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
362692 tn?1248639193 Hey, come visit with us over at the Lyme Disease forum. Sounds like you could use some company. We've all been through the mill and can perhaps give you some information from our collective experience. There is a recent book called Cure Unknown by Weintraub that I highly recommend -- it describes what people have gone through trying to find a diagnosis and treatment and the mess that the scientific and medical communities are in about Lyme and its coinfections.
Avatar m tn Welcome to MedHelp Lyme -- Sorry to hear what you are going through -- you are, in my not-medically-trained opinion, having symptoms that could be associated with Lyme disease. Many MDs are not familiar with the broad range of symptoms that may appear in a Lyme infection and often cycle seasonally and also every few weeks (it's different in everyone). That is, I think, part of what makes it hard for docs to recognize Lyme when they see it.
