5757880 tn?1395578022 Once you have read the information below you will realise that Ritalin and other ADD / ADHD medications achieve nothing more than the suppression of symptoms. If we remove the cause of Attention Deficit Disorder, the symptoms will soon abate and no medication will be necessary.
Avatar n tn These symptoms could be signs of mile autism, but they can also indicate Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). If you continue to see these symptoms regularly I would consult your pediatrician. :) God Bless You.

Avatar f tn Ritalin is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy (an uncontrollable desire to sleep). When given for attention deficit disorder, Ritalin should be an integral part of a total treatment program that includes psychological, educational, and social measures. Ritalin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed at different times with panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar II, and adult attention deficit disorder. I've never felt that any particular one was totally correct, and so have been researching to find out what is wrong. What are some examples of symptoms in "mild asperger's".I have lived most of my life feeling as if things were not quite right.Thank you.

Avatar m tn I read somewhere that it is a symptom of Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. Is this true? I do seem to have some of the other symptoms. This discussion is related to Severe Itching on arms.
Avatar n tn 299.80 Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (Including Atypical Autism) This category should be used when there is a severe and pervasive impairment in the development of reciprocal social interaction or verbal and nonverbal communication skills, or when stereotyped behavior, interests, and activities are present, but the criteria are not met for a specific Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizotypal Personality Disorder, or Avoidant Personality Disorder.
8506154 tn?1398433086 I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulties. It's really hard to say whether you might have a "sick brain," as you put it. It seems possible that you could have attention deficit disorder or learning disabilities. Ideally, those kinds of issues should always be recognized and addressed in childhood, but sometimes a child with attention deficit disorder or learning disabilities will slip through the educational system without ever being diagnosed.
1472248 tn?1292611095 From the symptoms described this looks to be attention deficit hyperactivity disorder rather than anything related to the previous episode of rolandic seizure. ADHD usually presents in early school years. The child can be either primarily inattentive, impulsive, hyperactive or emotionally unstable. The child often doesn’t seem to listen, is easily distracted, cant sit still and is fidgety, has angry outbursts, social loner, becomes very sensitive to criticism.

Avatar m tn From what I could read they also categorize how the symptoms of schizophrenia present themselves in addition to the mood disorder aspect but you could discuss all this with your psychiatrist. Both the DSM-4 and the ICD-10 are generally at the reference section of any library and could be read for informational purposes and then discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn However, I hace some evidents that autism does have something to do with psychotic simptoms. When I look up the DSM 4 criteria for Schizotypal Personality Disorder, it says that condition does not occure exclusively during Pervassive Developmental Disorder. This implies that milder psychotic simptoms, that schizotypals experience, might all be accounted for autism, so autistics don't need additional diagnosis of schizotypal personality disorder.
Avatar f tn I have in the past wondered about autism/aspbergers since he does have a somewhat long attention span and had a speech delay when he was younger (he had no words until 20 months). However, his speech and language have caught up and never has he been so intently focused on an activity that I was unable to draw his attention away verbally (sometimes it would take a few tries). Many of the symptoms that made me suspect an ASD have disappeared.
Avatar f tn Axis I includes acute issues like biploar disorder, major depression, generalized anxiety, substance abuse, ADHD, schizophrenia. (These are just a few diagnosis listed in the DSM) The DSM gives a listing of symptoms for each of these disorders and the time the symptom must be present and distressing for the person to be labeled with the diagnosis. A person's symptoms are used to match up a person's diagnosis.
Avatar m tn However, some people have problems learning due to attention deficit disorder. Stimulant medications have been shown to be effective for reducing symptoms of ADHD such as distractability and impulsivity. Sometimes mood and thought disorders interfere with learning as well, and these conditions can also respond to medical interventions. A psychiatrist is the right professional to visit to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for psychotropic medications.
Avatar n tn But if the teacher is noting that your son is beyond the normal spectrum in this regard he may well have a neurologically-based attention disorder (such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) that requires treatment.
