Common Questions and Answers about Attention deficit disorder statistics

Avatar n tn Other disorders must be ruled out -- particularly such childhood problems as school phobia and attention deficit disorder; aging problems of dementia, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and other psychotic states induced solely by alcohol or drugs. Drug or alcohol abuse is common in persons with bipolar disorder and can mask the symptoms, thus complicating diagnosis and treatment.

Avatar n tn I would ask your doctor for a trial of a stimulant such as is ordinarily given for attention deficit disorder. That doesn't mean you have that, only that that class of medications may have the effect that you want. See if that works before going any further.
1328507 tn?1275073545 // I would also highly suggest you immediately order the book - "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley. So you can find out that there are other ways besides drugging your child. You need to look into behavioral therapy. Its not a lot different than what I was talking about in the first paragraph - - it will work with ADHD kids, it just takes a lot longer.
Avatar m tn Long-term use by children raises particular concerns, especially in light of the widely popularized, but unsubstantiated belief, that blue-green algae is useful for attention deficit disorder. Blue-green algae can also contain a different kind of highly toxic substance, called anatoxin. In addition, when spirulina is grown with the use of fermented animal waste fertilizers, contamination with dangerous bacteria could occur.
Avatar f tn I have learned you can't go by things you read. People are not statistics. People defy statistics all the time. I got diagnosed with a deadly cancer three years ago. Everything I read about my cancer said I would be really lucky to live two years. It is almost three. Just in January the FDA approved a special drug just for a small group of people with my cancer. I am planning to be here along time. I had cancer in 14 places now I only have it in one.
Avatar f tn Other recent studies link even minuscule blood lead levels with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Even at concentrations well below those usually considered safe—levels still common today—lead increases the odds of kids developing ADHD.
Avatar f tn I sort of liked Huckabee (although I am a liberal) but these religious zealots, especially those that want creationism taught in schools and those that change their minds as the winds blow will certainly not think that the druggie diseases are worth fighting for. Probably want us to crawl in a hole and die. Who was it that NEVER mentioned HIV back in the 80's during his presidency? I agree with Goof. Nothing will be done. And to be fair remember Hillary's health plan?
Avatar n tn Anyone have info (such as statistics) on hyperthyroidism? My mom and sister have do my aunts and female cousins...i'm the only guy with hyper in my family. I have all the symptoms of hypo, minus the weight gain, and still do occassionally. Recently, the symptoms have been getting worse, and I find that the slightest changes in eating/sleepin habits mess with how I feel emotionally and physically the next day. I was diagnosed about 3 1/2 yrs ago.
328927 tn?1227765440 So, I have absolutely no clue as to where I am in my cycle in terms of dpo. My BBT is unreliable though since my cat has a serious affection deficit disorder after our 2 week absence and I could not sleep at all. Typically I do not O till cd 13 which is today. Since we were on vacation I did not OPK till cd 11 so not sure when LH surge was first detected. Sorry for being so self-involved... I am so sorry about your nausea! I do hope it goes away soon.
Avatar n tn I too have this problem with the involuntary breath every so often. I chalked it up to anxiety. I have had anxiety disorder for years. I have had this involuntary breath for maybe 5 years I guess. I had my gallbladder removed maybe 20 yrs. ago. I myself did not experience any problem with this involuntary breathing after that surgery. But, 2 yrs. ago, I was diagnosed with moderate stage COPD. I honestly think that is what causes my involuntary breathing.
Avatar n tn Probably, I have some type of seronegative arthritis such as a.s. I also have an ai blood disorder. I'm glad I'm SVR and I'll do what I need to do to treat these autoimmune issues as well. In my view, the ai problems are still better than the alternative.
551343 tn?1506834118 This is because of my dad's history and the plus syndrome is like an ms syndrome. Trouble is I know leber's is a mitochondrial disorder so it has be passed down from your mother not your father. My swallowing problems have worsened over the past couple of years. It also takes me so long to eat plus with loss of appetite I really am fighting to keep calories up. My speech can also be affected but it's all due to spasticity. So a couple of days ago I developed what we think is an anal abscess.
Avatar f tn sometimes it drives me nuts, other times if im not really paying attention I don't notice it much. nerves are a crazy thing. I read where some one who had this problem got some one to punch him in the mouth just so he could get his lip stitched and possibly given something that would help, and of course it didn't. but its probably true that 85% of people who had this issue NEVER recover while the 15% recover in 6 months to a year.
Avatar n tn Thank-you for sharing your story, it is very encouraging ... and all within the past 5 months of his stroke, that's wonderful. At times you feel like your the only one who is/has experienced it. Did the motor function come back with therapy alone or was any special stimulation used? Just the other day my mother was able to lift her right (paralized)heel slightly off the bed during therapy, the first sign of movement and hope for re-gaining motor function.
Avatar m tn My husband says I pay too much attention to my spot and that if I'd just forget it, it would go away. Do you ever get headaches at night from all the squinting and looking at (searching for) your spots? The whole things makes me so depressed sometimes.
Avatar n tn FYI, I also ordered the posture book you recommended and am going to immediately start paying attention to my mid-back posture etc. This is likely a heal-thyself issue due to weakness in the back. Good luck, y'all!
Avatar n tn Maybe if your doc gets something in the mail from them they might pay a little more attention to this matter and get to the bottom of this for us.
162948 tn?1205256292 I recently had my IUD removed, and started to get discouraged after several negative tests. I did a little bit of research, since my doctor never told me what to expect afterwards. It is normal to bleed heavy clumps after it is removed. The IUD works a couple different ways. It does reduce your uterine lining, blocking fertilized eggs from implanting on the uterus, or by creating a mild inflammation which prevents sperm from fertilizing eggs.
