Avatar n tn hey was wonder when you use the asmanex do you have any side affects from it , does it clear the tubs is that what its for ?
Avatar f tn I just happen to browse the net since my toddler son is temporarily getting albuterol nebulizer treatment for his cough and it does make his heart rate increase up to 160 bpm. I can’t imagine having to deal with it long term. I would try to seek more options if you haven’t already because you don’t deserve to just settle with side effects and discomfort to address your asthma. Good luck to you and prayers coming your way.
Avatar n tn inhaler to use when an attack strikes or are you only using the nebulizer for the attacks? Are you on any preventative inhalers or oral meds? I, myself, have a rescue inhaler that is my first line of defense and then if that doesn't help, I go to the nebulizer. I'm not currently on a prevenative inhaler as I've had reactions to several of them.
Avatar f tn I am taking atrovent for asthma and i was wondering if i should be spitting out phlem after i take a treatment or does it just break the phlem up and i spit it out whenever?
Avatar f tn I was taking acetylcysteine (Mucomyst) by nebulizer for congestion. This is not always available so I had to make do in some other fashion. I use a slightly hypertonic saline which I make myself and nebulize that. The result is not as dramatic, but it is more gentle and there are no side effects. (There are with acetylcysteine.
Avatar f tn Yes, Atrovent is ipratropium bromide is used for COPD. I use Duoneb which is a combination of albuterol and ipratropium. You are making me wonder if I can manage with ipratropium alone. I have never tried it. I will ask my lung doctor. I use a portable nebulizer. With that I can take as little as I need (or as much).
Avatar n tn Last year I was diagnosed with Bronchectisis, put on an atrovent inhaler and take mucinex daily. Early December I started coughing more and started having pain in my right lung when I took a deep breath. Sometimes the pain is felt in my mid back area and on my right side in the ribs. The DR. took an x ray which showed a bronchectic infection in my right lung. I was put on 14 days of antibodics which took away the cough and green phlem that I always have.

Avatar m tn It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Regards.
Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. Why is this happening after all these years? Will it go away or am I supposed to get shots again.
Avatar f tn He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids. He directed me to take both atrovent and ventolin 2 times a day for a month but I don't really have a long term treatment plan. The doctor seemed a bit stumped as to what else to do. I am suffering from some symptoms almost all the time and regularly have fairly bad attacts. I am very glad to have the ventolin but I'm hoping to find long term treatment for the underlying problem.
Avatar n tn is it safe to use spiriva and advair together my sister has had laryngitis for 4 weeks
1344892 tn?1276541735 i am 29 years old and have asthma for which i take 100 mg of qvar 2puffs twice daily. for the last 4 days my heart is beating very very fast, it will not slow down, it is waking me up from my sleep and is really getting me down. i went to a&e and had a chest x-ray, and it was fine. then i had an ecg and that came back fine apart from my high heart race. my blood pressure was high but then was taken again immediately after and was deemed o.k.
Avatar m tn Your hypertension may not be related to the Duonase spray, as they are usually locally acting and do not have systemic effects. You can try Atrovent spray for your symptoms. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My son has suffered that for years. We finally went to a university hospital where they did all the typical GERD related test and as soon as they discovered he actually had GERD, it seemed like they concentrated on that as being the source of his cough, and stopped listening to what he was telling them, that the cough would start as soon as he ate food. It didn't have enough time to get to his stomach and then start to regurge.
Avatar f tn I know a lot of people that prefer and use a nebulizer over an inhaler. I prefer the nebulizer. My doctor has me using the neb more than an inhaler. I am to use my inhaler only when I absolutely cannot use my neb or for very minor issues. Personally, I find it is MUCH more effective. The nebulizer produces a much finer mist than what comes out of an inhaler enabling it to get deeper into the lungs.
212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
Avatar n tn my 6 yo son has been sniffling constantly for the last three months. He is allergic to dust and tree pollens. He has been to the allergy doctor who has prescribed fluticasone and certrizine. He has seen a pediatrician who has said maybe a sinus infection and given antibiotics. He also had an x-ray at the allergy doctor's office. We are going to see the ENT in two days. I don't know if it's a tic? He says he can't breathe well.
Avatar n tn The doctors have put my 4 year old on xopenex and pulmicort via nebulizer. they said that is the best one for him, he has a complicated history. You really need to seek a 2nd opinion, and that is just my opinion. from everything that my little guy has been through I always maek sure that I also have a copy of his medical reports that way there if you go for a second opinion, then you have all of that stuff and you can be prepared. to ask questions or whatever.
889551 tn?1416184483 Get a nebulizer. Ask your pediatrician for a script. Inhalers are very difficult to use on infants and nebulizers are the only effective way to get your little one medicated. I am nurse with a son with pediatric asthma. We've been through it all. I wish you well. If your MD refuses to allow you a nebulizer, find an allergist or another pediatrician.
Avatar f tn You can buy one from the pharmacy or if you cannot afford it, go to the hospital or clinic but you may also be charge for nebulizer use. Decide what's more affordable for you.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been asthmatic since I was 2 years old (very severe as a child, mild now) and for a long time as a child it felt like I was spending most of my time using the damned nebuliser!! When I was about 8 a doctor told my Mum that nebulisers aren't any more effective than your usual inhaler and to stop using it. Since then I've never used it. My asthma went basically dormant for years but now I'm 19 and it has come back quite badly within the past six months or so.
Avatar f tn He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Avatar n tn My dad had a tracheostomy procedure a month ago. In the last two weeks, he has been gasping for air and coughing almost non-stop when he's awake. When he's asleep, he occassionally wakes up doing the same. The tracheostomy tube was replaced with a new one; however, the problem presisted. Anybody who has experience with similar patients and can help with what to do?
Avatar f tn I cough a lot anymore to the point I can hardly breath. I am on inhalers, steroids, antibiotics and a nebulizer. The nebulizer helps most of all back can only take it 4 times a day. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn Hello :-). My son has asthma which manifests itself in a cough and often shows up during/after colds (he doesn't appear to have any problems with breathing in enough air... no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
