I do not believe that different statins have the same effect. In one huge survey, atorvastatin came out on top with the least side effects. Here is some info regarding your question which I found on the internet.....

I am told that i had Ischaemia in the year 1977 i.e 32 years back. IN May 2006 my tryglycerides level is 295. He prescribed Atorvastatin in addition to vitamins but I did a small research about Atorvastatin and find out there are some contradictions about usefulness of Atorvastatin. Of course the contradiction relates to use of Atorvastatin in combination of interferons and he prescribed Atorvastatin in combination with vitamins but I have not decided whether I use it or not.

My mother has been put on Atorvastatin and within one week she has had extreme confusion and forgetfulness. This has been the only medical change. Is this a side effect from it and can they show up this quickly?
57 Male never on medication and gym rat. I have been on Atorvastatin 40mg since middle of March. It was prescribed by my cardiologist for slightly high cholesterol level 225. Along with BP Med Losartan 50mg.
All of this started when I wasn't feeling very well one day in February and went to outpatient clinic. Since then I've had a heart monitor, CT scan of heart and angiogram. All normal except angiogram showed one 70% blockage.
t forget a Rx, I’ve taken all my “Rx meds and other OTC items” (with at least 12oz of water) first thing upon rising in the morning …. followed immediately by my same-breakfast-of-7 years of 2 “unprocessed” whole grain/nut/fruit breakfast bars (held together by (alas) maltose) and a full 20oz+ of water.
But do know that your lipid numbers may be at goal BECAUSE of the atorvastatin, so stopping it may make the level worse than they are now. In addition there is also good supportive data about this class of medications in terms of preventing heart disease in people with diabetes, so overall it is a good idea to have it on your medication regimen, unless there are reasons why you should not be taking it. So discuss further with your doctor if you are concerned.

My dad who is 81 years old in India is on Citilin 500mg daily. The neurologist prescribed it after he had TIA number of times. He used to get seizures like symptoms and loose his consciousness. I have been taking Losartan 25mg in the morning and 25 metoprolol succinate ER in the evening. My BP in the morning always ranges from 120/70 to 130/80 and evening it goes upto anywhere between 140/80 to 150/90 and some times even 160/100(rarely- but had readings like that). My HR in the morning is aroung 70 BPM and increases to around 90 in the evening.
I have never had trouble sleeping through the night -- until my doctor prescribed Lipitor (atorvastatin). My cardiologist tells me that I need a statin for my cardiac health, but now I only get 4-5 hours of sleep at night before I need to get up and pee. Than, I only get back to sleep about 1/3 of the time. Lack of sleep robs me of energy, and makes me irritable -- not good ! Does anyone know about the side-effects of other statins that I might take instead ?

My question is that I have fairly good lipid profile by regular use of station along with strict exercises,So is it a so important factor affecting my health this bilirubin increase or can I ignore the same and concentrate on keeping the lipid profile in the same way?
