Avatar m tn Total Chol about 120 or lower Triglycerides about 115 or lower HDL fairly steady at about 35. has always been low. Last monday TG rose to 204 and HDL dropped to 29. Total Chol was 115 and LDL direct was 55. My change was dropping lisinopril due to a couch and increasing Coreg from 3.125 mg 2x/d to 6.25 mg 2x/d this has shifted my cardiac disease risk in the wrong direction. Does it make sense that the lipid change is due to coreg dose this small?

Avatar n tn Your cholesterol is obviously high, so perhaps trying a different brand of statin would be a good idea. I take atorvastatin with no problems, and the highest allowed dosage of 80mg. My cholesterol was 9.7 and is now around 3.

Avatar m tn Blood Count MCH(26.4) Liver ALB/GLOB ratio (2.0) Kidney BUN(Urease/GLDH) (6) Doctor has prescribed Atorvastatin(5 mg once daily) for LDL and Thyroxine sodium(50mcg once daily) for TSH. I have a very low fat-low cholesterol-high fiber-high omega3-moderate protein diet and still have this problem. I had gas problem for last 3 weeks and doctor prescribed pantoprazole. when I get up in the morning I feel slightly less blood supply to my hand fingers.
Avatar m tn My Echo, Treadmil test is normal and borderline cholestrol(total-220, HDL 47, LDL 125, TGL on the higher side 330) so doc prescribed Atorvastatin 10mg and taking and now the levels are settled to very normal. When I met the cardiologist last week the BP was 160/95 and HR 84 BPM. The Doc also changed my med from Metoprolol Succinate ER 25mg to Bisoprolol 5mg once daily in addition to Losartan 25 in the morning. I am too scared to take the new med as I read 5 mg is equivalent to Metoprolol 100mg.
Avatar m tn Can someone share his success story of increasing HDL without increasing LDL(with minimum reliance on drugs), preferably with diet. My LDL is at 77 but HDL is also less at 34. I am on near "zero oil diet"(just 5-10 ml oil from all sources). I take statin and nicotenic acid tablets. My triglycrides are high at 175. Please also advice on easiest way to bring it down(from personal experience). Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Avatar f tn My total cholesterol was 236, ldl is 174 , HDL is 46 and triglycerides is 179 before Rosvin f.After one month course of Rosvin F and life style change my total cholesterol is 119 mg/dl (Reference <200), LDL is 62 mg/dl (Reference , <100) HDL is 43 mg/dl Reference 40-60) and triglyceride is 71 mg/dl Reference <150). New reading lies to low normal reference range. Dr. recommended to continue Rosvin F for one month. I little bit worried about dose. Let me know should I continue Rosvin F.
Avatar n tn My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern. Is it true that I do not have other options?
Avatar n tn I understand your concern, but after much research concerning the side effects of statins meds, PVC's are not a listed side effect. In fact, statin use has been studied in exercise induced PVC trials and have been shown to reduce the incidence of PVCs due to exercise so it would stand to reason that they also do not affect normal heart rhythm. Having said that, your PVCs may be anxiety related to statin use.
1463256 tn?1286028981 Your LDL is higher than the recommendation of less than 130, but more importantly your HDL is well under the goal of 40 plus. Remember what HDL does, it binds with LDL and takes it to your liver to be flushed from your system. If HDL is very low, LDL tends to be high. Even though your total is under the recommended level of 200 for a healthy person without existing CAD or other major risk factors, your lipids do need to be treated.
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
