Avatar m tn Hello, The data is quite supportive of taking a low dose daily aspirin if you are over the age of 40 year and have diabetes, in order to help prevent heart attack and stroke. The aspirin may not seem as though it is doing anything obvious, but it is likely doing great preventive things on your behalf. The Atorvastatin is something you should discuss further with your doctor.
Avatar f tn My dad who is 81 years old in India is on Citilin 500mg daily. The neurologist prescribed it after he had TIA number of times. He used to get seizures like symptoms and loose his consciousness. He was bedridden and stopped walking completely. Now, he is up on his feet and doing his regular work after regular physiotherapy. At first, he had trigeminal neuralgia and he was on carbamezapine 150mg twice daily and then 300mg twice daily. I just need to know how long he has to be on Citilin.

Avatar m tn I have polyneuropathy in both my feet which may have been caused by statin drugs I took in the past, but am not sure. Do statins cause neuropathy? A doctor recently prescribed Atorvastatin for me daily to reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. I am 62. Is it OK for me to take this?
Avatar m tn Never in my family history. Also thyroid gland not producing enough. Then i was asked about Atorvastatin and these issues especially typ 2 diabetes. Avatar n tn Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day. In the Pravastatin or Atorvastatin Evaluation and Infection Therapy (PROVE IT) trial, patients with acute coronary artery syndromes were enrolled, and pravastatin lowered the low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol to 2.46 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered it to 1.60 mmol/l.

Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
Avatar n tn may i know what is this about and FYI my dad is a stable angina patient, could it be symptom of stroke? TIA? or post-surgery effect? he in on losartan, carvedilol, atorvastatin, plavix med.
Avatar f tn my menstrual period had some months of delay, so the doctor gave me LD hormones for two months, which caused my blood to get dense and finally I had a partial brain stroke at that time; so I have been prohibited to consume hormone drugs after that. My menstrual period got regular then. After May 2012, my menstrual period was lost for several months after my mother's death, and I had no bleeding.
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?

Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. I had only taken it for about five weeks and the discomfort remains three weeks later. I had the same reaction to simvastatin, which I am told is the worst of the bunch. I'm waiting a few months and then I will try something with a less violent track record.
Avatar f tn In 19 study subjects, administration of a single 20 mg dose of atorvastatin following pretreatment with telaprevir 750 mg every eight hours for 7 days increased the atorvastatin peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) by an average of 10.6- and 7.9-fold , respectively, compared to administration alone.

Avatar f tn 2 This was a single center, randomized clinical trial of 161 patients with mean age of 60 years and 46% with known cardiovascular disease. The effects of atorvastatin 80 mg/d and pravastatin 40 mg/d on CIMT were compared. Baseline CIMT and other characteristics were similar in both groups. After 12 months of follow up it was found that the LDL-C was around 76 +/- 23 and 110 +/- 30 mg/dl in the atorvastatin and pravastatin group respectively. There was a regression in the CIMT of –0.034+/-0.
Avatar m tn Hello; I have got one coronary DES stent implanted since two month ago ("Endeavor RESOLUTE RX"). I am on clopidogrel, aspirin, atorvastatin, carvedilol, enalapril and pantoprazol. Fearing about scars growing inside the stent's mesh, I have read that some people recommend vitamin E for cosmetic appearance of scars; well, my question is: Could vitamin E be of some help for preventing "in-stent restenosis"? Is it worth trying? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Your cholesterol is obviously high, so perhaps trying a different brand of statin would be a good idea. I take atorvastatin with no problems, and the highest allowed dosage of 80mg. My cholesterol was 9.7 and is now around 3.
