451075 tn?1210262248 It would be far better to adopt a modified plan that includes some vegetables and complex carbohydrates, in my opinion....something that you can keep up over the long run. You can make it heavier on the protein side if you are trying to build muscle. Your body also "needs" healthy fats, or you will soon notice your hair falling out and your skin and nails drying and cracking. Pills alone won't do it. That's just my opinion.
Avatar n tn The doctors i have spoken to in the past (most of which are highly-trained professionals, [some of which have at least 30 years experience, and are Harvard grads]) were strictly AGAINST the Atkins diet. you should read up on this for yourself. (try google.com) Good luck.
Avatar n tn I found some information on some of the important nutrients your body needs that you might not be getting from the foods you are eating. Not suggesting that you overdo the vitamins, but you might want to talk to someone about supplements. Or, are you able to add vegetables that have a low glycemic value? Best of luck... Vitamin B6 is an essential partner to zinc in helping to block DHT formation .
Avatar m tn You should start off by feeding him healthier foods, with no preservatives or additives (non-processed, cut sugar carbs). You can get these foods at whole foods stores in your area (do a google search). Substitute juices and sodas for water. That may take some getting used to, as I can recall drinking gallons of kool-aid as a kid; but it will help. Sports drinks may be a great alternative as well, althoug check the ingredients and sugars first.
Avatar n tn Atkins diet would you recommend this diet to your patients or what diet do you think is best i need to lose 80 lbs and i know several people who cut out carbs and lost weight. thanks for any diet info.
Avatar n tn You get to choose the diet you want to follow, but whichever you choose just make sure it has all the nutrients you need, including antioxidants. An exception is if you're heavily into resistance training, in which case you will need additional protein. Good luck meeting your goals.
Avatar f tn If you want to follow a diet plan that can help you change your habits long term you might want to try the South Shore diet. It is more balances but still heavier on the proteins and many have had good success with it.
Avatar n tn But I would really suggest getting the oven. Then, you can get fresh meats and actually cook it so you can do baked chicken breasts, slice it up and then put in a wrap/sandwich or just plain eat it as is. I would suggest getting thin sliced chicken and then roll it up with low-fat cheese and basil in it. light salting and pepper with a little olive oil basted over it to make it nice 'n' moist (lemon too if ya like that).
649848 tn?1534637300 i needed to lose weight quickley a few months back for a birthday event. so i tried the lemonade diet (known as the beyonce diet) you cant eat anything at all for a week! this was very hard but i done it. all you have is this special drink and water for your drinks. i lost a stone in a wekk. as u can imagine i was so happy....BUT after i finished the weight fell straight back on:( this diet is a good diet if u need to lose weight fast for a special event coming up.
Avatar f tn With the money and time you've invested I suppose you can continue as you have, or you can cut your losses, order the injections and choose an easier path. In any case, ktna, you have the support and encouragement of your friends here and I especially will help however I can. Don't give up! It's your well-being that matters and somehow, you'll find a plan that works.
1666434 tn?1325265950 I don't know if anyone else is the opposite, but I actually gain weight when I eat too much protein. I remember trying that Atkins diet and I felt horrible while my mother-in-law loses weight quickly with it. So its always interesting the different approaches we can take to dieting and how different things work for different people.
579258 tn?1250652943 Which we all know is a big NO NO! No dirty dishes, unless you count the spoon and I can eat it in the car. I can also break it up and eat the fiber bar for a snack if I think I might not get back in time for lunch. That keeps me from wanting to grab fast food.
264121 tn?1313033056 Eat what you can. I have found that I do better on days that I eat bacon for breakfast. As a matter of fact I think I would choose bacon at every meal.
Avatar n tn thank you. another Q. though where did you get your other supplies? ando how's the diet going for you? what color is the hcg after mixing?
Avatar m tn A high sugar meal after working out, or even a recovery drink (containing high sugar) after working out, will stop the benefits of exercise induced HGH. You can work out for hours, then eat a high sugar candy bar or have a high sugar energy drink, and this will shut down the synergistic benefits of HGH. If you miss reaching HGH release during working out, you will still receive the calorie burning benefit from the workout.
Avatar f tn I would suggest an easy way to do this... Eat clean. Plain and simple. If you cut out ALL packaged foods that would be a good start. Stick to lean protein..Chicken turkey breast, fish of all kinds and Beef and pork only occassionally. Lots of veggies and low glycemic fruits such as apples, berries, pears , plums melons. Cut out most "white" foods. White bread, white rice, white potatoes etc.. Stick to whole wheat (100% WHOLE WHEAT) Read lablels. I myself eat low carb.
Avatar n tn I encourage you to visit Dr Mercola’s site to learn more about Peak 8 fitness because I personally feel that it is one of the best ways to exercise, especially considering the speed at which you can lose fat and build muscle. I highly recommend you read this article and watch the videos on the page. It will give you all the information you need to know about Peak 8 – Flood Your Body With This “Youth Hormone” In Just 20 Minutes.
637356 tn?1301928422 I'm sorry the diet didn't work out for you, as I know you were counting on it to help you. I agree with kimmit that you need a variety of foods - there's a reason for the food pyramids, etc. We really do need all of that stuff. Protein is important to a healthy diet, but you must have the proper vitamins/enzymes to break it down. Fad diets are rarely good for you, and once you go off them, the chance of regaining the weight is so great; many people end up gaining even more.
Avatar f tn There is no "diabetes" diet Many diabetics fallow the "eat to your meter diet" (Google it) Test before you eat test 1 hour after you eat if your BG goes up more than 40 Pts (US) (2.3 for the rest of the world) you eat too many carbohydrates. carbohydrates raise BG ALL carbs raise BG If he is T1 (type 1) he has to take insulin.
Avatar n tn New soujorn and all, I am wondering about what diet you follow during peg/copeg treatment and after. I was doing the Atkins diet which you eat primarily meat for a few weeks and then add lots of vegetables. I have toyed with several diets before tx. I need to lose some weight but just want to make sure I am being healthy through this. There is so much controversy over low-fat verses low-carb etc. Since tx started I have been trying to eat low-fat.
Avatar f tn Good luck with it, here is a brief excerpt from the article on diet but if you google Metabolic Syndrome you can find lots and lots of diet info to assist you in making these changes. Double check that things on your new diet arent contraindicated with Hep C, for instance these diet changes mention flax seed oil and I was told to avoid that with Hep C, so you might want to substitute another oil. Take care and good luck with it.
Avatar f tn The problem with a diet of this type, where you are severely limiting any one food group is that as soon as you go off the diet, you gain the weight back again. To lose weight successfully and KEEP it off, you need to choose a healthy eating style that you will be able to maintain for the rest of your life. That includes ALL of the various food groups in appropriate portion sizes. By limiting certain foods, you most likely aren't getting all the nutrients you need.
Avatar n tn My PVCs haven't entirely gone away but they are way less now that I watch what I eat. Even nonfat milk can contain MSG. Check out this website which tells you which foods contain glutamic acid or hidden MSG.. .www.msgtruth.org Good luck!

Avatar n tn I live in Cherryville - 10 miles from the Shelby clinic - and I'm interested in the type of foods that you are eating on the HCG diet. What you are actually eating for breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner... I'm going to start on the shots next, but thought I would go ahead and start eating right now - to test it out. My email address is ***@**** Thanks for you help!!
Avatar n tn I was told that Atkins diet was dangerous to diabetics ? This diet can be extremely dangerous to Type I diabetics, but can actually help Type II diabetics by helping regulate insulin levels. Many diabetics have been able to reduce, or even eliminate their medication. Check with your doctor before starting this diet, and before reducing any medications.
203342 tn?1328740807 You didn't mention if I should eat a certain amount of calories? Also, what do you think of the Atkins diet? I heard you can lose a lot of weight fast on that. I wasn't sure though if all that protein/meat would be harder to digest though. I hope you don't mind me asking a few more questions! I'll try to not bug you anymore after today! :) Thanks for your help.

251922 tn?1193786078 I also am taking an appetite suppressant. The only difference for me is the diet is 800cal per day and a lot less restrictive, I can eat any vegg, and three meals, two snacks, also dairy is allowed but it has to be fat free. So far I have been on the plan for 7 days and I have lost 8lbs, I started at 193 and am now down to 185.
