Ativan nursing implications

Common Questions and Answers about Ativan nursing implications

diovan

Avatar f tn My grandmother was recently placed in nursing home for short period after having pnemonia, they did not give her her ativan. She has been there four days, when i saw her today she was shaking uncontrollably, She has taken ativan for years due to essential tremors, but i have never seen her like this. I spoke to the nurse and she said they would make sure that she received it tomorrow.. could these excessive tremors be caused by withdrawal.
Avatar n tn that's a really low dose of Ativan and Ativan generally takes quite awhile to take effect, possibly an hour or two. I've tried trazodone too and that doesn't do much either - it's an antidepressant with sedation as a side effect, so they figure it will work but a lot of times it doesn't. If the trazodone doesn't work don't bother with it.
Avatar f tn Actually, ativan leaves your system in FOUR hours. And you are on a very low dose, so you should really NOT be having side effects from that. Look at other things you do that may cause this - eating something odd at dinner or before bed can do this. Oh, and see your doctor about it as well bc if you are only using it for sleep, there are other, perhaps better solutions.
Avatar f tn My mother is a nurse and an addict to Ativan and Oxcontin. She also has been diagnosed with Graves disease and hyperthyroidism. I am not sure if her behavior, slowed/slurred speech, confusion, slow response, lethargic, no appetite, blurred vision, etc, are results from using the Ativan & Oxycontin or from not using her medications for the Graves & Hyperthyroidism. She says she is not taking anything due to lack of insurance.
1821865 tn?1317522031 I know some of you have been in that riad what should i do take her home or live her in long term. They kept madicating her with Ativan i tried to talk to the nursing director not much of nother. She is medicare what should i do.
Avatar f tn Long story short I have had a very rough last 4 years. I started nursing school my kids dad passed away also lost several other loved ones that I havnt even had time to grieve for yet and I have 6 children. Needless to say I have an extremely stressful life. I've made it to last semester of nursing school and was hit with severe dabilitating depression and the first panic attacks and anxiety I have ever felt in my life.
Avatar f tn A 68 year-old white male presenting with pectus excavatum and blood pressure that averages 155/85 . What implications may be encountered regarding dysfunctional heart functions ?
Avatar f tn My mother is a nurse and has been a recovering addict for years, however I feel she may have had a relapse. She can no longer function as a nurse, let alone function normally. My brother passed away a few years ago and she has been on a downward wind whirl ever since. She "was" taking ativan and oxycontin. She has also been diagnosed with Graves disease and hyperthyroidism.
Avatar m tn Hi There. It's interesting I came across your post. I've been searching the internet for similar conditions for my mom. She has Parkinsons and has had it for only 4 1/2 years and has recently been getting breathing problems. She complains that she can't breath either and her nose seems to be clogged and she thinks her heart is going to stop. Her pressure also increases. The doctor today said he thinks it's anxiety, but these symptoms come up when her meds are wearing off.
Avatar m tn They gave me some ambien and a prescription for ativan. After the ambien ran out I was on ativan and it quickly became my new addiction. I was up to 9mg a day, which doesn't sound like much but for this drug its A LOT. This drug gave me the ultimate withdrawals as I quit cold turkey which is not how to stop using the drug, however I was tired of having yet another vice. So Im a firm believer that ativan is a horrible drug for any addict.
Avatar m tn I also have hyperthyroidism--when I was very hyperthyroid and had shakiness and panic attacks the beta blocker worked--in the ER they wanted to give me ativan--as a matter of fact they insisted I take the ativan and were going to give it to me intravenously when I asked what the nurse had in the syringe she told me it was ativan--I flatly refused--she was "concerned" because she wanted to calm me down from all the shaking and my rapid heart rate (170 bpm) .
Avatar n tn If you removed your uterus you wouldnt be able to be pregnant ever... I am not sure of the implications but i definitely know the previous to be true. Good luck!
Avatar n tn t tell you ativan is the boogey man, it helps and you do seem to have an awareness about using it. Ativan is a Benzodiazipiem<sp and it has dangers like most drugs out there. Particularly withdrawing from them, causes seizures in heavy usages. I think in most cases you should listen to your doctor. If you don't trust your doctor you should consider finding a new one. Good Luck....
Avatar m tn I as well have taken both Xanax and Ativan. I personally feel that the Ativan is better. I do not take it often. Only when I am having an attack coming. The biggest difference I felt in the two medications was that with Xanax, I woke up very groggy still not much calmer. Ativan I do not wake up groggy and I actually am relaxed. I think you would benefit from trying it. IF you do not care for it than either ask to be put back on Xanax or a different one all together. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Am off Fentanyl pops for over a year, now stuck on 12=16mg of ativan a day. WTF am I doing?
Avatar f tn Hi again. I was wondering if anyone takes Ativan daily? I was told I could take this along with the Zoloft until the Zoloft kicks in. That just seems odd to me but...........it works. I didn't take it today just to see what I felt like and I've been nervous and anxious all day. I'm just confused on how long to wait before the Zoloft works on it's own (it's been 3 weeks & I know it can take a month or more) and when I'll be able to NOT use the Ativan.
414333 tn?1226191493 75mg but you started taking ativan along with the clonazepam and it is the ativan that you started taking at 2mg/day. Is that correct? Now you are trying to get off the ativan and you are down to .80mg How often do you take the clonazepam per day and what is the dose each time. The same question for the ativan...how often/day and what is each dose. Are you on any other medications?
Avatar f tn hi, im not a doctor, but im taking ativan for years. The Ativan works for 4 hours , how long it stays in system about up to 3 days.it depands on how many mg you took . instead of talking more , try to skip the ativan , instead of 3 times a day, try 2 pills a day for few days. The mdication will start to work again. Your body just get used to those specific meds.It is very easy to get used to it and get hook on those meds.Just be careful.

Avatar m tn Both gave me horrible side effects. The she prescribed me .5 Ativan and Lexapro. Ativan works for a little bit but whenever I take .5 mg of Lexapro it seems to exaggerate the anxiety. I started taking the medications for 4 days now . Is it possible to have any withdrawal symptoms from taking Ativan? I am determined to find something like herbal supplements to help me with the anxiety. Please help me. Thank you.
