Avatar f tn well we all know i have been on benzos 18 years xanax most of all and it stopped working last year so onto klonopin and they took me off that coldturkey and put on ativan which does not seem to be working,,,,i see another person on here that had the same thing done to them ,what do drs think they are doing,I was told i would not have withdrawals from the klonopin but i believe i am im trying to hang in i have no more insurance to go impatient next stop would be state hospital..
Avatar f tn ativan is not for everyday use, after a while your body gets used to the dose and needs more, you need to be on something for long term like klonopin, talk to your dr.
5371853 tn?1367025372 I too had the same results with it and they added Celexa 40mg daily and the combination of the two seems to be working ok. I would think you have been on it long enough for it to start working. With all of the side effects that I have heard that go along with taking "the pill" I'm not sure that would be your best choice.
Avatar m tn When was the last time you saw your doctor about your anxiety? Did your doctor tell you to start taking the Ativan again?
Avatar f tn Yes, I have input. Immediately stop taking your medication in ANY manner that has not been prescribed for you! What you are doing now is called "drug abuse." If the current dose is not working, you need to talk to your doctor about either increasing the dose or changing to another med. Self-medicating with this class of drugs is stupid and can be very dangerous.
Avatar f tn hi, im not a doctor, but im taking ativan for years. The Ativan works for 4 hours , how long it stays in system about up to 3 days.it depands on how many mg you took . instead of talking more , try to skip the ativan , instead of 3 times a day, try 2 pills a day for few days. The mdication will start to work again. Your body just get used to those specific meds.It is very easy to get used to it and get hook on those meds.Just be careful.
Avatar m tn But they are not working and I hate the way it is making me feel. the xanax worked better for me. i am going back to said doctor tomorrow to have him change back to xanax.
Avatar f tn i was on xanx for 17 years it worked great aftet stopping it cold turkey in 07 i hVEnt been teh same...was put on both klonopin and ativan they helped some but klonopin made me more depressed and ativan was the cause of year of dizziness..so in march dr put me back on xanax up to 6 mg a day...i dont take that much but maybe i need to ..
Avatar f tn I am in therapy and trying to process all of the reasons why i used/abused, etc,,,,, Well he started me on .5 Ativan twice a day, i called up and told him its not working, he told me to go up to 1. twice a day. DOes this drug need to get in your system for it to start working? I have been on xanax in the past and i felt that worked immediately, and i liked that i was able to take as needed, but with the Ativan i have to take it twice a day, I'm confused??
1574975 tn?1317072090 hello again, i started the zoloft in may. im not sure if its working or not. i guess it is, i have small "flare-ups" now and again. its usually right before my period..im the kind of person that allows there anxieties to swallow them whole, by anxieties i mean my thoughts. i get caught in the pattern of thinking and thinking until it consumes me, it happens every few months. but thats when i take the ativan. horray for that!
Avatar m tn Well medications work differently for everyone, I read it's supposed to have sedative properties and such but I became immune to sedation from Geodon that knocks you out and so far none of the other antipsychotics I tried sedate me that much either although they're supposed to generally but they all have a different propensity for sedating a person. It might also take some time to take effect in your body.
Avatar f tn hi, am not getting sleep regularly so i am using ativan 1mg for every night. what my doubt is it ll affect my future life???? and what are the side effect will come for taking this sleep pills?????
Avatar f tn How is ativan different than Xanax,I am to take 1 mg ativan 3 times aday was making it 8 hours between doses now because of my early wake up time or teh med not working as well im taking it like ever 5 to 6 hours''''''Could i be double dosing this way.....i can feel when the pills wears off its like the side of my head starts feeling wierd but im also being more dizzy lately....
Avatar n tn I to was afraid of side effects and reading about seizures but so far I only feel slower and a little drowsy but other than that its working. I still have little panics but not to bad . oI used to take Klonopin for years but in low doses and when I got this reoccurring attack it felt like it wasn't working anymore. Maybe I just needed a higher dose but I was worried about being to clumsy and extra drowsy. At least so far with Ativan I have been able to drive pretty good.
7680419 tn?1399056811 I will make sure to do some research also but I wanted to know if ativan can help with coming off pain meds. I was prescribed this for several months a while ago but canceled it because I was talking it and nervous to take it. I did taken it a few times for anxiaty. Literally only a few. I don't even remember the last time i had one. And only twice the first time I tried to come off the norco before joining this site. Is it addictive? Can it help if not abused.
Avatar f tn 5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?
358304 tn?1409709492 Or I dunno maybe Klonopin was masking Ativan withdrawal? Bc I stopped Ativan after 2.5 years then switched directly to Klonopin for 2 months without weaning off my last Ativan kick. I usually don't take Ativan any longer than 2-4 weeks at a time. Then I can go without it for a month or so, as long as I'm not having anxiety really bad. Hmmm... Lots to think about.
Avatar m tn im wondering if the doc will give me clonazepam in exchange for the ativan. or valium or something. has anybody switched from ativan to clonazepam? or from ativan to valium? if anyone has, or has information. it would be greatly appreciated. thank you guys.. you guys help more than doctors do..
1460652 tn?1340248730 But to get you over this period of being spooked, an antianxiety med is going to make your life much easier and the transition back onto an AD less stressful and therefore less anxiety provoking. If your current dosage of Ativan does not seem to be working very well to control the anxiety, talk with your doctor about increasing the dose for awhile, or trying Xanax.........they are very similiar benzos, it's really just a preference on my part. Ativan doesn't seem to work as well for me.
Avatar n tn Assume you mean Ativan right? Xanax and Ativan are both benzodizepenes, anti-anxiety medications in the same class as Valium and Klonopin (which I take). All of them have different half lives (how long they last in the body) and the potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it depends on the half life. The half life of Ativan is short but much longer than that of Xanax which is really meant for occasional use for panic attacks. Ativan can more safely be taken everyday on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn 5 of xanex in morning and 1mg at night to help me sleep but i have been on it so long just dont seem like its working anymore...i tried switching once b4 to ativan and i was up all night with not being able to sleep, i was hot then cold and my heart felt like it was racing, when i called the pharmacy they said t was bc i went from a 1mg of xanex to 1 mg of ativan and ativan is only half the strenght of xanex that i should of been on 2 mg of ativan to equal out to the 1mg of xanex....
527657 tn?1214051850 i know i am addicted to ativan thats why its not working for sleep the tylenol pm is working great right now. i dont have diaherra either far from it. thanks for the advice though.
Avatar n tn I take Xanax when needed and I have also been on Buspar for over a month. I saw changes with Buspar after a couple weeks, but just recently...I started having more attacks and I don't know if it is working or not. Buspar is non-habit forming (or so I have read) but the Xanax does wonders when I can't deal with an attack. Ativan was given to me in the hospital for my first attack and it made me feel very strange...depressed, too.
Avatar f tn Ryan, how do you taper off Ativan? Or it's not necessary and could go on to an anti-depressant like Remeron? Also, is another med helpful while one is trying to taper such as Klonopin, etc.?... What are your thoughts about the anti-depressant Remeron. I suffer once in awhile from migraines. I have been prescribed Topamax. Have you heard of the med call Topamax? Thanks.
