ativan iv dose

I know when I was initially diagnosed with hyperthyroidism I landed in the ER with rapid heart rate and was shaking all over because of the hormones racing through my system they wanted to give me iv ativan--I stopped them and told them that I WAS NOT NERVOUS that I did not need ativan--that the beta blocker worked for this so they gave me the beta blocker intravenously and it stopped the shakes and the rapid heart rate.

..yah.. I know ativan is a benzo. I hardly take it because I am afraid of the withdrawal and getting addicted. that's why it's so hard. it's helps with the anxiety a little but i just don't want to be taking it all the time. Will taking ativan to close together cause odd dizziness and unsteadiness?i have been on it since may 09,but latley im taking it more often and having these symtoms...any input?

t have much if any problem with this if taking them for only a week or so in 1mg per day dose. when ready, cut your dose in half for a few days and then stop. Consult your doctor if you experience problems or your anxiety symptoms return.

Could I take a 0.5mg dose of Ativan prior to taking an 8 hour test for Ped. Advanced Life support?

I've been taking ativan for over seven years. I started out with .5 Mg 3 times a day. Over the years My doctor has increased the dosage to 2 Mg 3 times a day. If I take it on an empty stomach it tends to make me sleepy, so I always take it with a meal. I lost a month's worth of pills one time on vacation and had to wait 2 weeks to get more. I did not feel any real withdral symptoms over the two week other than difficulty sleeping for the first couple of days.

I was recently prescribed Ativan for my anxiety, was told by my dr to take 1mg in the am and 1mg in the pm, my question is if i am fine during the evening hours do i take it? I don't want to get addicted to these pills as i just battled opiate addiction (200 days clean). I actually asked the dr for xanax and he told me this would be better since i am having the anxiety all day and that the Ativan can stay in my system without all the highs and lows.

If you have those doses, don't take them. Could be fatal. If you are concidering this please call the suicide prevention line and check into counselling for suicide prevention.

If you feel you are anyway sleepy or tired from the clonazepam, which I doubt, but some folk it can have that effect on, then take a lower dose of ativan. Both are benzos. Not normally used together. Maybe only as per needed with the ativan. But if you have been take such a high dose of ativan as it is you can't just stop that. It is one of those things that has to be lowered in dose to get off. If that is what the plan is.

I have been taking 1 mg of ativan about 30 minutes before bed almost nightly for around 3 months. I'd say at least 6 out of the 7 days a week but some weeks every day. I am also on 12mg of suboxone a day for about 11 months due to a 7-8 year oxy/heroin habit. I have just never really liked benzos as a high but the doctor gave them to me cause I was having night terrors and waking feeling like I was having a heart attack.

t tell you ativan is the boogey man, it helps and you do seem to have an awareness about using it. Ativan is a Benzodiazipiem<sp and it has dangers like most drugs out there. Particularly withdrawing from them, causes seizures in heavy usages. I think in most cases you should listen to your doctor. If you don't trust your doctor you should consider finding a new one. 80mg How often do you take the clonazepam per day and what is the dose each time. The same question for the ativan...how often/day and what is each dose. Are you on any other medications?

I have not taken any Ativan since Sunday which I had it finalized for 1 month at a dose of .5 mg. The first day was somewhat uncomfortable but I was able to tolerate it. Day 5 no Ativan and I am feeling somewhat better but a little cloudy. I spoke with my doctor today and he told me the half life of Ativan is 10 to 22 hours with it fully out of my system within 72 hours. He did tell me that I could feel withdrawl for 1 week to 2 weeks. But I have been on it for way to long.

i have been in bed all day because im scared to do anything because i dont want my heart to go crazy. also they gave me .5 of ativan through my iv and i have been so tired all day. so im just curious what this sounds like.....also would love to hear others personal experiences. thank u so much.

My wife (58 yrs) had difficulty in sleeping and was prescribed ATIVAN 1mg. This she has been taking for 10 years now. It made her impatient and aggressive. The dose was increased to 2mg and yet there was no sleep. She stopped taking it 5 weeks ago. There have been horrible withdrawal symptoms. Docs here do not know abt any detox drugs for ATIVAN. She is in pain and has developed suicidal tendencies. I want to know what drugs can be given to give her peace, make her pain free and get off ATIVAN.

update: i posted i too 9-2mg of ativan a couple days ago. I'm sorry i couldnt reply by they deleated my post. It ended i took 15- 2mg tablets... I got want I wanted I slept and slept.i do not suggest it at all but im here and alive just thought i waould let you all know! Sorry about the scare and thanks for thinking about me!

Hello! Did you doctor say WHY he wants to make the change? Sometimes, to tackle tolerance issues (needing a higher and higher dose to maintain the same level of effectiveness) doctors will recommend switching to another med in the same class. Are you having issues with tolerance? Is the Xanax just not working like it once did? Your doctor is planning on gradually weaning you off the Xanax, while at the same time, gradually stepping you up in doses with the Ativan.

I would like to know if I decrease my dose of Ativan by 1/2 of a 1 mg pill , how long should I wait till I go to another half a pill ? I would like your advice on this please !

The advantage of the patch was that it maintained a steady dose of the drug around the clock, but the dose she switched me to wasn't exactly equivalent. By day seven off the patch, for the first time in my life, a migraine rendered me unable to walk. Usually, I can make it to the car for the trip to the emergency room, but this time the nausea and vomiting was so bad my parents called an ambulance.

Two nights ago, I took a couple of muscle relaxers (as prescribed) to help my back so I could sleep. The next day (yesterday) I was zonked all day, could barely hold my eyes open. I'm on 2mg of Ativan a night for sleep, I think I'm starting to see a pattern that if I miss a dose 1 night my body starts to have flu like symptoms, skin feels like it's burning, body is shaking anxiety is off the charts. Am I sick or going through withdrawal? From 1 night??

I have been on Ativan reguarly for about three months. Taking about 5-6mg a day. My family Dr. and I have dscussed getting me off the ativan for my aniexety. So started decresing the dose to 21mg a week then 14mg which I am at right now. About a month and a half ago I had a seizure at work and again last night. Now both of these times I had stopped taking the ativan for three days because I was drinking on the weekend. Are the seizures from tha?.
