that's a really low dose of Ativan and Ativan generally takes quite awhile to take effect, possibly an hour or two. I've tried trazodone too and that doesn't do much either - it's an antidepressant with sedation as a side effect, so they figure it will work but a lot of times it doesn't. If the trazodone doesn't work don't bother with it.
i have been on ativan for 3 weeks 2mg a day. i wont to stop the medication.
I have been on Tylenol 3 for a year and a half for bad headaches and recently got up to 80 pills in a 9 day period, I knew it had gotten out of hand and have since decided to stop. I have not had any since yesterday morning and last night was horrible. I woke up soaked in night sweats, and had a bad bout of nausea at 5 am. My body is now starting to get aches and pains all over and a bad headache is weighing down my willpower. I was curious if anyone knows how long this detox stage lasts?
I had previously been dry a couple weeks and was taking ativan 3mg/day. On July 4th, I slipped and drank. A lot. I fell and was injured, rushed to hospital, given ativan and pain meds, released 2 days later. Never took any pain meds before except tylenol or ibuprofen (I'm 50). Got home and was in severe pain. I refused the oxycodone script at the hospital.
Last wednesday, i couldn't take it any more and got 40 5mg of oxycodone and have been taking 6 a day.
I read a little on Ativan and it says it does cause withdrawls with some symptoms including insomnia and anxiety. Going through withdrawals is a long process and is really draining but can be done. Like I said I haven't had any experiancwith Ativan in particular but someone will come along and hopefully be able to give you some more help then I can.
Even with short-term use, the body can suffer withdrawals when cutting back on the drug. And yes, you are over the worst of it. Anytime you cut Ativan in an effort to lower dose or get off it, takes about a week to get completely past that awful experience, and then if you cut again, same thing.
There are plenty of good sleep medicines that can be prescribed to you that will knock you out cold, your doc will know what to give you that is strictly for sleep and not a tranquilizer.
going to 2 or 3 different doctors; of course one not knowing what the other has prescribed and going to different drug stores as well.
At one time he did have problems with kidneys. I believe that has been alleviated. However, I would like to know the long term affects (I'm guessing going on 20 years of these medications combined) of these drugs.

during a professional detox, most hosptials or clinics will use right around the same standard procedure...i went through a medically supervised detox and i was given lorazepam. the ativan will help with the anxeity, restessness, the muscel spasms/cramps/aches, insomnia, and other mental wd symptoms, you just have to be very careful in how long you actively use the ativan as it is very addictive and the wd's are horrendous and can be life threatening..
Do you know: Is klonopin an anti-anxiety med that works like an ativan or xanax? And what is the difference between the sleeping aid that is in Ambien and klonopin? Is Ambien more relative to what is in, say, Tylenol PM OTC? I am trying to find the least harmful sleeping aid. I take ativan now - 1 mg. to sleep. Is Ambien safer?
