Avatar f tn Hello. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I am 39 and have known I have very mild Mitral Valve Prolapse for years. It caused me NO problems whatsoever, then one day WHAM panic attacks and anxiety. Long story short, after several trips to the ER, cardiologists visits, Internal Medicine docs, psychiatrist. They all conclude Panic disorder/Anxiety. I have since learned that many times people with MVP are more prone to panic and anxiety.

Avatar n tn I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?

Avatar m tn For my first pregnancy I made it to about 3.5 months before I started taking medication. I took Klonopin as sparingly as I could and I took Prozac. I don't remember taking the klonopin for very long and certainly not the entire rest of the pregnancy. The prozac was a low dose....I want to say 10 or 20 mg but honestly it was so long ago I can't remember. I tried very hard not to take the klonopin though.
Avatar m tn Lexapro sent me to the ER with a major anxiety attack and prozac also made me nervous. Long story short, my doc. and physchiatrist recognized that I ONLY needed ativan for my anxiety. Unfortunately and for some reason, a lot of doctors out there are trying to treat anxiety with anti-depressants. Anti-depressants are uppers and they basically make you more nervous. These drugs are good for depressive folks. However, for anxiety...we need the benzos...
Avatar f tn I am on 40 prozac and ativan as needed for depression and anxiety. Before i was on prozac i had never had a panic attack, and while i dont blame stopping prozac for the panic attacks, i know i will never be able to funtion now without it. The depression i feel i have a hold on, but the anxiety is unbearable without the prozac, and only partially controlled on it.
Avatar f tn I almost wish i started on the 10mg but I took prozac years ago and never had a problem and was actually on a much higher dose. Just strange how the body works, isn't it?
Avatar f tn I am so jittery, feel like vomiting, going to pass out and it all day long. I have a few ativan here and took one and that did help...Anyone else, suffer like this and anyone else try prozac and how did you do..Please help...
Avatar n tn It makes me tired during the day, no sleep at night without ativan 1 mg, nausua no appetite and lathargic.. I have read sooo much about these being normal effects so i am guessing they are right? and will they get better? second, i went down from the 20 mg i started with to ten starting tonight, i felt a lil anxious cause i had pain in my chest but i have bad strep throat right now so maybe it is that, the pain went away so, and i didn't panic out, but started to so i guess it is helping.
780665 tn?1239026549 ve found that both the benzos (valium, xanex, ativan etc..) AND the SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft,etc..) help with palpitations. I have been on Prozac for almost two months and have seen my ectopic beats (PVCs) reduce. At my worst, I had maybe 6 a day. Now I'm down to one every couple of days. Anxiety makes them worse so the meds help the anxiety etc.. However, when I started the Prozac, I had them every day for the first week. If you go on SSRI meds, give them time to work.
1352638 tn?1277025232 t doing a good enough job, so they added Wellbutrin, still with the Ativan. The Ativan stopped working, so they replaced that with Klonopin. And added Guanfacine for nightmares. I got fed up and recently switched psychiatrists. Anyway, Celexa is supposed to be a good choice for people with prominent anxiety along with depression (also, it has very few side effects-- probably the best of the SSRI's as far as that goes), so I'd give it a chance.
Avatar f tn If you've only been taking the Klonopin for four days, you do not have to taper.
Avatar f tn My doctor now put me on Ativan to replace xanax. Ativan makes my vision blurry, makes my stomach upset, and makes me shaky throughout the day, I also can't function on it. My doctor also prescibed me resperidone yesterday - I'm afraid to take it, because I am on a beta-blocker everyday to stop my heart from pounding from the anxiety - and this medicine says it can change your heart rythym. They also had me on Prozac for a few weeks - which did nothing. Any suggestions.
Avatar n tn Lately I have been taking a .5 mg tab of Ativan every morning and this is enough to help me get things under control and function for the day. My question is this: is this low dose of Ativan still addictive? Or does it have enough time to clear the body?
Avatar n tn I take Ativan as needed (for super-serious PAs, which is rare). Ativan and Xanax are both short-acting benzodiazepenes that are useful on an as-needed basis (just like how you are taking it right now). If Xanax is working for you, then don't switch. I didn't think there would be much difference in how each works but one worked for sejjajsmom and one didn't so if you have one that works then stick with it.
449440 tn?1206887304 ok the doc said to get me through the weekend he was giving me some prozac and atavan but the prozac dont seem to work and the atavan is not taking care of my atacks just making me a lil bit tired
Avatar f tn Switched to Cymbalta but had shaky hands and severe headaches. Switched back to Prozac a week ago but still feel a little blue. Does it take the normal 1-4 weeks for the Prozac to take full effect?
Avatar f tn My question is well the drowiness pass after i get used to it....I ws on Prozac last May to sept...with ativan and abilify and my new dr said it was the wrong conbimation.Every thing i read about xanax says it can also help depression.
6168959 tn?1379392259 HI, I take prozac daily, but still have panic attacks and real unease throughout the day. my doc put me on lorazepam to help with it, and said take @ 1 mg pill 3 times a day....it helps, but makes me so super tired! is this normal procedure for doctors? the prozac is the best antidepressant i think i've ever been on...makes me feel alot like myself if you know what i mean, but why am i having to pair it with lorazepam? am i wrong in thinking prozac is doing such a great job?
Avatar m tn But she said to give it 6 weeks though last time i her I just feel like i am taking a lot 20 mg prozac in the am 40 buspar am and noon and ativan as needed. And still no sleep / and some anxiety. Should I keep taking it??
Avatar f tn Thanks for the input, I was on prozac last spring, and had an awful reaction, it took a few doses of xanex and ativan to get me out of it, after hours in the ER.. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have for over 20 years. I was on ZOloft for 14 or so years and it pooped out on me the fall of 2013 and ever since looking for the same wonder drug zoloft gave me...
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are different types and classes of medication that people are prescribed for anxiety and depression. There are faster actiing meds like Xanax and Ativan that are used on an as needed basis and are usually prescribed more short term and then there are medications like Zoloft and Prozac (SSRIs) that are prescribed more long term and taken on a regular basis. While these are only two types, there are also multiple other classes of medications that are used in the treatment of both.
519035 tn?1348275773 I have severe anxiety and depression from Hyperthyroidism, and take both Prozac and Ativan (lorazepam). The combination of the two make me feel like a normal person. Sooner or later I'll be able to go off the Ativan, though (been through this before!). Good Luck to you and keep us up to date on how you're doing.
