As soon as the hiccups start, take continuous sips of water. It works for me. My uncle also has had a life time of bad hiccups and said it didn't work. When I told him to start the sips as soon as the hiccups start, now he says it has worked!
And yes, it could be a consequence of the stroke. I read at the Mayo Clinic site that hiccups are a form of myoclonus which I have. My particular kind causes sudden involuntary jerks of my muscles which was caused by my stroke.

It's normal and healthy for baby to have hiccups. My Dr always asks if my baby had the hiccups and says he's healthy if he does.
Even if some time has passed, a CT scan of brain, chest X-ray and ECG should be done. It is quite possible that the hiccups you had were due to something you ate that caused gastric irritation. However a brain bleed needs to be ruled out. If the bleed was small and localized, you may not feel any other symptoms.

t felt her hiccups down low in the pelvic area like I had been. But I cleaned the house and have been moving around a lot then when. I sat down I felt them low low low right in the middle of my pelvis. So could she have flipped? I felt my belly up high when she was having the hiccups and felt her hiccuping but it was stronger in my pelvic area.
I get hiccups with all starches whether hot or cold. I have noticed it with bread; mealiemeal; potatoes and especially rice. Could it be that I am intolerant of it? How can I prevent it?
Its probably your body adjusting to your growing belly. But just to be on the safe side call or see your Dr. I'm 36 weeks and I've been to my Dr a million times. Seriously. I went a month ago because she had the hiccups and I didn't know that they could get the hiccups in utero.. Lol! But yeah. Okay, well how are you directed to take them both? Is one as needed, both as needed, and if so, how do you know when to take which? Do you take one of them regularly? It's pretty uncommon to be prescribed two short-acting benzos concurrently.
The equivalency between the two meds isn't an exact science, but per equivalency charts, approximately 0.5mg of Xanax equals 1mg of Ativan, so the Xanax is roughly twice as potent, mg to mg. Again, not an exact science.
I'm proud to say my kiddo is practicing her newborn skills, shes swalling the amniotic fluid and i feel the hiccups, for a little over a minute now!!! So cute :) who's felt them & when? Are they strong or faint feeling??
What symptoms of a hangover are you talking about? If you're speaking of anxiety, that's most likely not a hangover, but rather the typical after effects of alcohol consumption.
Taking Ativan for hangover symptoms would technically considered abuse of your prescription, since that isn't what it's prescribed for, and all around a bad idea.
I think the headache was from something else and not the ativan. Woke up this morning with no headache and took .25mg of ativan and no headache. We'll see what happens later today....
I'm a bit sedated right now on just .25mg. too.
In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day if needed. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it. I've been on Klonopin before and all that did was make me fall asleep (even on a very low dose), and at least with Ativan I feel as though I can function without feeling so tired.
