Avatar f tn I suffer from severe GERD and a anxiety/panic disorder I have been on protonex 40mg for my GERD /heartburn and it works wonders id be lost without it. I suffer more from the chest pain and pressure version of reflux not really burning or acid sensation, although I do get that from time to Time and I get radiating shoulder blade pain with it at times. I've had every test heart, endoscopy etc all cam back normal besides inflammation in my esophagus.
1126790 tn?1268014605 (Update) I've been experiencing nonstop aches and pains in my chest, and back, and common feelings of needing to burp, all of which I've associated with Anxiety. I think I'm going to have my medication switched to Ativan.
358304 tn?1409709492 Okay... so I've been so worried about my changes in bowel movements... the way my food digests... my stomach burning when its empty... and ive been getting this tight throat feeling... but it actually does feel like its getting tight. and sometimes i freak out... and have to lay on my side just to feel like i can make my throat feel better and more relaxed.... i have had issues with acid reflux in the past, but not all the time... where i can feel burning coming up my throat...
881463 tn?1245345649 My chest pain has been improving the past 24 hours and the Ativan with-drawl symptoms are finally subsiding (thank god). Ativan is very addictive and it doesn't take long to be on it to get really bad side effects if you quit, especially cold turkey. The withdrawl made my anxiety go way up and I just couldnt stop crying and the metallic taste in my mouth which is also fading was awful and I had a really bad headache.
Avatar m tn At first my doctor thought it was from heat or my thyroid medication but nothing helped. Then they thought it was GERD and I tried everything including Prilosec, Zantac, Prevacid, and Protonix but nothing has worked. I went to a Gastro doctor who says I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome but that is not the cause of nausea. Does anyone have any advice? I am lost and very sick. This discussion is related to Chronic Nausea.
Avatar m tn posssibly mis diagnosed as a child possibly had autism but high functioning asburgers.
Avatar n tn My doctor thinks that it can be anxiety and prescribed Ativan but Ativan does nothing for my shortness of breath, it just puts me to sleep. I'm not sure what it can be that I have. Any suggestions would be great.
Avatar m tn finally, sunday, after much anxiety my wife took me back to the ER where they gave me another steroid shot and an anxiety shot. they also prescribed me ativan. the doctor said he felt it was anxiety, allergies and acid reflux(which i have had for about 3 years-take nexium for) Monday i went to my PCP. he sent me back to the ENT plus gave me a prescription for Lexapro. the ENT insisted i go ahead and start the drops for allergies. now to the question.
Avatar m tn I agree with paxiled as it does sound like you have an ulcer. It's good that you stopped drinking because that will cause additional anxiety and health problems. I've had doctors throw that gerd crap on me before as well and the reason I felt like crap was because of anxiety because once that was under control I felt better. If you find that you are nauseous when you have anxiety there could be a correlation there, it certainly is for me.
Avatar n tn Like everyone else says, see your doctor. As far as the burning goes, it could be acid reflux, like greenlydia said. I've had anxiety because of health problems and I totally know how you feel. How are you sleeping at night? I'm not saying you're crazy by any means, because you only know how you feel and you know your body the best. But, in the meantime, you may want to try going on Paxil or Zoloft for anxiety. If the anxiety makes it hard to sleep, try Trazodone.
11251831 tn?1416581526 I think you have two things occurring here. First you have the GERD, and second, because of the GERD and your belief that it isn't, I do believe you are having anxiety because of it. Anxiety can create heart attack like symptoms, dizziness, forgetfulness and brain fogginess. The GERD can create the chest discomfort and pressure under/below sternum bloating, burping, burning, etc. Please don't be afraid or skeptical about anxiety, it happens to many people.
Avatar f tn I took my .5 mg ativan and one benadryl for stuffy nose. Now wide awake and have to be up to work in 2 hours. Has this ever happened to anyone?? I also take my 12.5 zoloft in morning will this make me more jittery??
175890 tn?1253729525 Anyway I have been on the BHRT for exactly one week and I take both doses just before bed, last night I was having the wierdest sensations after getting into bed, both arms were sort of tingling warm my chest felt like it was filled up with air it was hard to breathe and I was having major anxiety over all of this wondering if this was being caused by the hormones I was awake till well after 2 am and made several trips to the bathroom mainly because of the anxiety I also take ativan .
Avatar f tn I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?

Avatar m tn Okay, well how are you directed to take them both? Is one as needed, both as needed, and if so, how do you know when to take which? Do you take one of them regularly? It's pretty uncommon to be prescribed two short-acting benzos concurrently. The equivalency between the two meds isn't an exact science, but per equivalency charts, approximately 0.5mg of Xanax equals 1mg of Ativan, so the Xanax is roughly twice as potent, mg to mg. Again, not an exact science.
Avatar m tn What symptoms of a hangover are you talking about? If you're speaking of anxiety, that's most likely not a hangover, but rather the typical after effects of alcohol consumption. Taking Ativan for hangover symptoms would technically considered abuse of your prescription, since that isn't what it's prescribed for, and all around a bad idea.
1731462 tn?1314241507 Er every other night, I had an entire cardiac work up, stress test, ct scan, tons of blood work, xrays, etc, have seen specialist, you name it I seen them, been to 4 to 5 different hospitals, I been on zoloft, celexa, xanax, valuiem, etc and now ativan, which was working and now only last a few hours, my chest pains are the worst,i don't feel normal, my chest burns sometimes, they thought I had gerd, so I saw a gi doc and got put to sleep he went down my throat and nothing!!!!
Avatar f tn I think the headache was from something else and not the ativan. Woke up this morning with no headache and took .25mg of ativan and no headache. We'll see what happens later today.... I'm a bit sedated right now on just .25mg. too.
1181804 tn?1333402805 OK. I struggled with my opiate addiction so much that I never fully realized how physically addicting I was becoming to ativan too. The doctor who helped me wean off the percocets by putting me on suboxone and then slowly wean me off those over a one year period told me that I can't be on ativan while on suboxone. Well, my Primary Care had put me on the ativan (.5 / 2 X a day- but I took more when I "needed" it.......
Avatar n tn There are no drug interactions with Ativan and bisoprolol. However, the Ativan may cause some low blood pressure. I am curious… why are you taking the bisoprolol if you have low blood pressure and a low heart rate… seeing as it can worsen both of those??
Avatar f tn In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day if needed. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it. I've been on Klonopin before and all that did was make me fall asleep (even on a very low dose), and at least with Ativan I feel as though I can function without feeling so tired.
Avatar f tn And the morning is the worst. I just started 5 mg celexa 4 weeks ago and my doctor wanted me to increase my ativan to help with anxiety. It seems like whenever I take too much, I feel sick and loopy. And, it is not that effective for me with dleep. It is more effective during the day to relieve symptoms. I am extremely med sensitive. Does anyone have any experiences with ativan?
Avatar n tn Nobody can predict how any med will work for you -- it's trial and error, unfortunately. What I think your psychiatrist -- and I hope you are using a psychiatrist, not a regular doc -- is getting at is Zoloft, if it works, is a long-term solution in two ways: it works all the time, whereas Ativan is very short acting, and there's a limit to how high a dose and how long one should take Ativan.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed .50 ativan(lorazapam) every 8 hours as needed for anxiety since the week of Thanksgiving. They made me too groggy so the Dr said I could cut them in half. I began taking .25 every 4 hours. My anxiety at the time was out of the blue and out of control. Attacks sometimes lasting less than an hour and sometimes all day. I was getting some relief for about 2 or 3 weeks.
7338010 tn?1390200380 I also have a annoying sensation in my back right around where the epidural was given. I also have GERD and I do have anxiety that I handle with out med. this feeling is different than anxiety. All the dr say is depression and anxiety bc X-ray is fine. I'm thinking with us had acid reflux maybe or diaphragm does get pushed up into our stomach or lungs. Not to sure if this is possible or the anatomy but I will look it up. Try not to get bloated. Good luck to you! Enjoy ur baby!
