780665 tn?1239026549 hello, i dont know if im the only one here but since my panic attack and anxiety which followed, i have noticed that my aerobic exercise capacity has decreased, i go to the gym about 3 tiimes a week and have no problem doing strength training, which has actually improved, however when it comes to running on the treadmill, i used to run about 5km over 20 minutes, but am now struggling and stop after 3.
Avatar f tn And the morning is the worst. I just started 5 mg celexa 4 weeks ago and my doctor wanted me to increase my ativan to help with anxiety. It seems like whenever I take too much, I feel sick and loopy. And, it is not that effective for me with dleep. It is more effective during the day to relieve symptoms. I am extremely med sensitive. Does anyone have any experiences with ativan?
Avatar f tn You are most likely experiencing rebound insomnia. What happens is...your body builds up a tolerance to the Ativan, where you require a higher and higher dose to accomplish what you're taking it for (in your case, sleep). So, when you start weaning off of it....you get a resulting worsening insomnia. The good news is....it won't last forever. You just may have to tough it out a bit. Talk with your doc about options.
Avatar f tn In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day if needed. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it. I've been on Klonopin before and all that did was make me fall asleep (even on a very low dose), and at least with Ativan I feel as though I can function without feeling so tired.
Avatar f tn Well, the Metoprolol was hell getting past the side effects, but I did it just to not have my heart pound so hard and loud out of my chest. I used less and less Ativan as time went by. I still had some palpitations (rare) and some occasional "thuds" in my chest. I was told this may happen DUE to the Metoprolol. I was also told to by my psych to take 20mg of Prozac. Well I am pill squeemish and didnt want to take the Prozac until I was off the Metoprolol.
Avatar f tn The first day was somewhat uncomfortable but I was able to tolerate it. Day 5 no Ativan and I am feeling somewhat better but a little cloudy. I spoke with my doctor today and he told me the half life of Ativan is 10 to 22 hours with it fully out of my system within 72 hours. He did tell me that I could feel withdrawl for 1 week to 2 weeks. But I have been on it for way to long. I am happy to be almost free from it.
527657 tn?1214051850 I was perscirbed two ativan for sleep and I still cannot sleep. I called my pharmacist and asked if i could take an over the counter sleeping aid with the ativan and she said yes. So about a week ago i started taking tylenol pm right before sleep. Avatar f tn I'm a 39 male with major depression and GAD. I take Celexa 40mg, Ativan 1mg, and Trazodone 100mg at bedtime. But the meds don't seem to work for my insomina. Can I add unisom or not a good idea to take also? I hate call my dr. tommorrow and tell him the meds aren't working for me. I have taken Ativan, Trazodone, and unisom to help me sleep before. My doc switch the Celexa from morning to nighttime tonight. And I was taking Ativan 3x a day now only at night or when needed.
Avatar f tn Just being on Ativan for three weeks will be quick and easy. It's when you've been on it for, say, six months that it's hard to get off. The basic way to get off any drug is to cut the dose by a certain amount, usually by 1/4 of your total for the day. Stay right at that dose until you start to feel normal, which is about three or four days. Then cut by another 1/4, stay on that until you feel normal.
Avatar m tn I live in northern Canada, and the winter has been severe,so getting out for exercise has been difficult, but I do get out every day for walks, and have use of a swimming pool.....I have found that exercise helps, but it`s not easy this time of year.My current prescription is for .5mg,and I have been trying to hold my use to 2.5-3mg,spread out over the day.I try cutting them in half, but find I need the other half an hour or 2 later.A schedule would really help me out..

Avatar m tn I was given a total of ten pills. Basically I took 3 mg 3 days in a row and only 1 today. I feel fine but just got spooked reading about withdrawal and seizures et al. Can someone confirm this extremely short-term usage is not going to lead to any real withdrawal symptomes? Thanks.
1577415 tn?1296778210 I am glad to hear that you have had all tests done. Maybe just stick with regular good cardio exercise and even mediation and yoga. Deep breathing will help as well. Both with anxiety and blood pressure. I was on high blood pressure medications, 4 of them actually after I had my daughter. But I worked hard to not need the meds anymore and now no meds and I my BP avgs. 100/60.
Avatar f tn There are healthy ways to combat anxiety, exercise, tea, supplements, essential oils etc. Check into some of that as that may help and all of it is non addictive!
1189366 tn?1265219887 You may want to have some benzos on hand like ativan or xanax to calm your nerves when they get really bad. Remember a good diet and exercise is way healthier than just sitting around and doing nothing waiting for the next skipped beat to occur. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Sitting, walking, mild exercise of any kind. Exercise causes them to happen much more frequently and makes me feel strange and light headed. I just finished another EKG, round of blood tests and he has trying to get me set up to see a cardiologist and I am waiting for the call back from their office. Still waiting on the Echo which is supposed to be in JULY this time.
1460652 tn?1340248730 I was on this med and as said by the first reply, it is short acting and when it wears off, you start to feel rough symptoms and want to take another. Its a very addictive drug. And that's a fairly high does of 3 mg daily.
Avatar f tn You don't explain what you mean by suffering daily anxiety or whether the lack of sleep started because of anxiety. There are a lot of reasons for sleep problems. If you're on medication and it isn't working, it isn't the right medication for you.
Avatar m tn I've been living with terrible symptoms of POTS for almost two years now. I've joined this to hopefully get some support and answers because I've come to a REALLY depressed point in my journey where I'm not even sure if going on is worth it anymore. I would honestly say that I have a "mild" form of it at the moment because I do not faint, thankfully. And I'm also not as ill as I have been at times.
Avatar f tn I took my .5 mg ativan and one benadryl for stuffy nose. Now wide awake and have to be up to work in 2 hours. Has this ever happened to anyone?? I also take my 12.5 zoloft in morning will this make me more jittery??
1448936 tn?1363206346 I have taken Ativan twice in the mth or more that I've been having ibs symptoms .... And YES it has completely taken the pain away both times ... I suffer all day and finally take an Ativan and it's gone ! ... I had Ativan fir other purposes but used it very sparingly ... Just thought I would try it one day during a bad bout ... I will be asking my doc for more of those ... Unfortunately the make me sleepy .. But the cramping is harder to bare than the sleepiness ...
Avatar f tn 6 mg of clonazepam is the same strength has 12 mg ATIVAN its twice the strength , he has left you with the grand total of 1and a half mg clonazepam instead of the 6mg you were taking, no wonder your ill. I take 6mg of Ativan a day and that's a lot , your 6mg clonazepam was 12mg ATIVAN the most scripted in ENGLAND is 10 mg or the same has 50mg of Valium .
689267 tn?1235241749 I was diagnosed 17 years ago with generalized panic and anxiety disorder, and have tried lots of meds to control it. Ativan seems to be the one that works for me. My question is- I know the harsh reality of xanax (horrible w/d, etc.), but is it the same for ativan? I never hear anyone talk about it on here, so I have no idea what I am up against. I take 3-4 mgs. a day. Mainly early evening and then to help with sleep. Or, should I stay on it since it is working? Thanks for any advice!
Avatar n tn Also, high blood pressure can be caused by stress though it can also be caused by diet, lack of exercise and other lifestyle choices, genetic problems, etc. But stress doesn't help any. That's not an invitation to stay on the Ativan, it works for such a short time period it's not really the first choice for high blood pressure. Most people get it because of diet and lifestyle choices.
877371 tn?1240237527 I am on ativan 1mg, 3x a day and 37.5 of Adipex. Will the ativan counteract the weight loss on adipex or make it to where you won't lose as much as you would without it?
Avatar n tn i was on Ativan for most of january due to severe anxiety and no sleep. I too was scared to stay on it. I can tell you- I havent had one in 2 weeks. It helped get me through a very difficult time. Try to take a low dose (.5) if possible. I now find just having it here in my home is good enough. Dont fight it !
Avatar f tn I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?
