1217309 tn?1267050177 There was a very helpful comment posted today from is-something-wrong about PVC's and PAC's...they really went into to detail about how PVC's and PAC's are actually a defense mechanism of the heart and although we feel them and they are scary and uncomfortable, they seem to be a good thing for us to have to prevent our heart from going into a dangerous arrythmia and allows our heart to sustain itself should we need medical treatment...
Avatar f tn I was given Ativan and it helped with the breathing. The doctors seem to think that the lung problem has nothing to do with my breathing problems. They think what I had was an anxiety attack. I will have further tests done regarding the lungs in two weeks. My question is: The sides of my throat and my nostrils felt swollen or shut. The Ativan was given to relax the muscles. Has anyone had an anxiety attack where the nostrils and throat felt like they were closing up?
Avatar n tn I was paranoid and taking 8 mg every 3 hours and 3 mg of ativan daily. I wanted to die and spent my days sobbing and rocvking on the couch,. I went to my local ER and they did not know how to taper me off the dilaudid. I went to Lahey clini where an ER doc gave me the name of a doc who speicialized in this and within 3 days at a hospital was detoxed. This was Mid October. Now I am suffering from severe abdominal and sever back pain. I went to a pain clinic.
Avatar f tn But, I am very sorry that you are having a difficult time dealing with the COPD. I understand though as I have been there. There is life with COPD. I am up and about functioning everyday. I cannot do some of the things I once did, but I have learned to accept that. It just takes time. I am battling my second disease. I had cancer 20 yrs. ago. I survived that. Then, when I was diagnosed with COPD, I was very let down and upset. I thought I already battled one disease.
Avatar f tn My Mom is in end stage COPD and CHF and it has been a battle of "wills" and "won'ts" between my sisters and my mothers care....My Mom is on Hospice care and I believe in there "mission" for "comfort care" but my sisters think that my Mom is/will become a "drug addict" (my Mom can be given Morphine and Ativan if her respirations get too high... (and my Mom has been having respirations up into the 40's - normal is between 18 to 20....
Avatar f tn Sinusitis, chronic bronchitis then COPD. All because doctors refused to treat the sinusitis. Because of this I can't afford the meds that are the staple of COPD treatment. But it did lead me into an alternative that works better and with less side effects. Benadryl works on the same principle as does ipratropium but I have never been told to use it. I can't tolerate Advair (causes angina) nor Albuterol (causes worse congestion and coughing).
Avatar f tn Please quit smoking - when I got diagnosed with COPD a month ago I put down the cigarettes totally. Has your doctor ordered at CT scan of your lungs? You would get better information on the progression of your COPD with a CT scan. I got a copy of my CT scan - moderate emphasema with scattered ground-glass opticities (still not sure what the ground glass means).

Avatar f tn I have been labeled with copd and I thought you only got that if you smoked and I have NEVER smoked.I also have sleep apnea and asthma.I was told by a few different Doctors that my asthma is from second hand smoke. Can anybody help me.It seems my body is getting older before I am.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am almost 58 and have never smoked a day in my life and was diagnosed about 1 half yrs ago with COPD, go on www.webmd.com and type in COPD stages. it will tell you the 4 stages and what to expect with each one. MOST IMPORTANT...Mom needs to stop smoking. those around her could get COPD as I did. and it is not just from smoke but also chemicals and other things you breath in. I hope this helps you and gives you the answers you want.
Avatar n tn So I would say ask your doctor if your meds would not interact right with your current meds. I have copd moterately severe and use benedryl for sleep, and am benefited by the antihistamine as well. Good luck to you! I hope this helped.
Avatar f tn I have COPD and CHF and had a stent put in two year's ago and found out it is now 60% blocked. I am concerned because I had been told because of COPD, not a candidate for surgery. So, my question is can they put another stent in or what or the possibilities now?
Avatar f tn I have had copd for a while now and dealing with as best I can but the last lung function I had the doctor said I now have severe asthma too and it's a progression of the copd. Has anyone else had this happen?
Avatar m tn Here is a timeline of events, although first my history: I am 28- I was in the hospital for 4 months when I was born with PPHT and bronchopulmonary dysplasia, I was on oxygen for a year after I got out of the hospital. I was sick a few times when I was slightly older maybe around 6 or 8 and hospitalized for a week or two with RSV. I always had asthma when I was a kid and was on Adviar and albuterol.

Avatar f tn I am 64 years old, female and have COPD and Sleep Apnea. I am currently on a Cpap machine. My question is, can the Cpap be make my COPD worse? In the time that I am on the machine I feel like my lungs are getting filled with more air. During the day my COPD seems worse. Since I have a problem getting the air out of my lungs anyway, can the machine be making my COPD worse? Thanks for any help you can give me. I am to the point that I don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with asthma and copd~ but a breathing test proved otherwise and ultimately all my other doctor visits simply dismissed me as having anxiety/panic attacks and probably a hypocondriac. I was none of the above, my vitamin b12 was low as well as my vitamin d. These 2 vitamins quickly resolved my issue~hope it's something as simple as that for you. good luck and I suggest you do some research on symptoms of vitamin deficiencies.
Avatar f tn My mum has COPD and has recently started vomiting everytime she bends down and wetting herself when she coughs. Is this related to the disease and does she need to go back to her doctors ASAP?
757137 tn?1347196453 I have been undergoing physical and pulmonary rehabilitation. I have severe COPD. My lung MD says I am improving. My blood gases in October 2011 were blood: 7.45, POO2 48, and HCO3 33. A test taken a month later showed improvement and my last test, taken in January 2012 was: blood 7.42, POO2 44 and HCO3 28.5. I see that two of the three values are normal. This is my question: Does anyone know what this improvement signifies and how it might affect a prognosis?
Avatar n tn Did the prednisone inflate the results, thus arguing reversibility of the obstruction? and does this rule out copd? Is it possible to have copd with normal lung function? If not copd, what is going on with the chest x-ray? Do I need to be concerned about the clips protruding into the hilum area? I appreciate any insight you can give.
Avatar f tn I took my .5 mg ativan and one benadryl for stuffy nose. Now wide awake and have to be up to work in 2 hours. Has this ever happened to anyone?? I also take my 12.5 zoloft in morning will this make me more jittery??
Avatar n tn Thank you for answering my question. Your answers have given me hope! allmymarbles--although I don't have COPD and haven't the need for an inhaler, I have taken massive amounts of oral steroids in the past. I am constantly on the look-out for natural remedies for inflammation issues. Thanks again, and all the best to you. mlynndcats--I have uveitis, too. Bilateral anterior, intermediate AND posterior. The flares are no fun, as you well know.
Avatar f tn My 89 yo father has COPD and his recent time in the hospital he became constipated with no bowel movements. They tried many things (suppositories, enemas, miralax and a myriad of home remedies) with still no success. A CT scan showed both stool and gases in his colon. A sigmoidoscomy relieved some of this but not much. We were told he isn't a candidate for a full colonoscomy without a lot of risk. He was sent home with hospice. He has gotten very weak and can't even sit up without help.
Avatar m tn You may be more prone to that with your COPD. I have severe asthma though and I take opiods at least weekly for back pain. I have no problem with it. It just depends on how your body reacts to it. If you are concerned, you could ask your doctor for safety measures you can take should you become short of breath. I hope that helps. Take care and feel better.
Avatar n tn I have moderate regurgitation in the Aortic, tricuspid and one other valve .. I also have COPD that is being treated by Advair and a handihaler once daily and Lasix 40 mg.. I must use 2 liters of oxygen at night and was just tested and found that I must use oxygen when I am exertional. I tested the need for 4 liters of oxygen at 280 feet walking. I get very short of breath. I was told by my cardiologist that I would eventually need to have the valves replaced.
Avatar n tn I have copd. Does eating cheese affect my copd. And is there something besides Mucinex that I can use or take to help loosen up the thick sticky mucus that builds up in my lungs?
