Common Questions and Answers about Ativan and celexa

Avatar f tn I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?
Avatar f tn And the morning is the worst. I just started 5 mg celexa 4 weeks ago and my doctor wanted me to increase my ativan to help with anxiety. It seems like whenever I take too much, I feel sick and loopy. And, it is not that effective for me with dleep. It is more effective during the day to relieve symptoms. I am extremely med sensitive. Does anyone have any experiences with ativan?
6693906 tn?1388804285 He has decided to gradually up the Celexa again and ween me off the Ativan. this is 3 days later and i am home from school with dizziness and nausea. From what I read that is normal withdrawal, and i'm certain it will pass. However, my question is if the Celexa was bad to bring up the first time, will it necessarily have the same result months later? If anyone has any information on this medication please help me, i'm a little worried!
Avatar m tn Well my regular family physician in Minnesota ---who I will be delivering with as I am moving back to my home area around Christmas---put me on Celexa and back on the Ativan as needed. The Celexa did not work out very well for me giving me thoughts Ive never had before..and was unsettling so I quit taking them, but currently do still take the ativan. He has me on .5 mg up to twice a day as needed. I understand that Ativan is a class d drug and is reported NOT safe pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Are you saying you were put on Abilify before you were put on Celexa? Because if you've only been on Celexa a few days, Abilify wouldn't be appropriate. It's only a last resort medication because of its side effect profile and because it isn't known to work by itself, only in combination with another med. If, for example, you have depression, and you're on medication and its helping but not quite enough and you've tried everything else, that's what Abilify is for.
Avatar m tn 5 MG of Ativan Is just going to cause you to withdraw Into panic attacks over and over and over. Ativan Also causes you to get mentally and physically addicted much like It's your emergency pill. Try Klonopin, If you're getting Ativan you should have no problem getitng and using this medicine as they are In the same class (Benzodiazipine) and much less In strength and addiction.
1305767 tn?1361192676 He didn't really say much. Just upped my dosage of Celexa, gave me more ativan and ordered some blood work. I'm supposed to call my regular physician on Monday.
Avatar n tn Lately I have been taking a .5 mg tab of Ativan every morning and this is enough to help me get things under control and function for the day. My question is this: is this low dose of Ativan still addictive? Or does it have enough time to clear the body?
Avatar f tn I find I am feeling worse and worse with each dosage increase. I also take Ativan which helps greatly with the anxiety. I would like to start weaning off the Celexa gradually but am not sure how to go about doing this. I am confident that the Ativan is what I require for the anxiety. As well, 5 years ago I suffered bilateral Pulmonary Embolisms (after having a PICC line removed after 6 months), is it true that Celexa can cause blood clots and PE's?
Avatar f tn My Dr. prescribed Celexa for anxiety from 20 mg to 30 mg to 40mg. I find I am feeling worse and worse with each dosage increase is this normal. I find i'm continually crying, feeling really down etc.. I've never suffered from depression only anxiety. I also take Ativan which helps greatly with the anxiety. I would like to start weaning off the Celexa gradually but am not sure how to go about doing this. I am confident that the Ativan is what I require for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn I'm a 39 male with major depression and GAD. I take Celexa 40mg, Ativan 1mg, and Trazodone 100mg at bedtime. But the meds don't seem to work for my insomina. Can I add unisom or not a good idea to take also? I hate call my dr. tommorrow and tell him the meds aren't working for me. I have taken Ativan, Trazodone, and unisom to help me sleep before. My doc switch the Celexa from morning to nighttime tonight. And I was taking Ativan 3x a day now only at night or when needed.
Avatar f tn t want to get addicted but the Zoloft has not kicked in and I am in a current breakdown and the Ativan helps yes I have a psychiatrist and therapist taking it day by day but celexa works really great for a few of my close family members so wondering if I should switch and very concerned about the Ativan gives me anxiety to take my anxiety medicine waiting for the Zoloft hoping as meds start to work I will not feel the need to take the Ativan but it literally scares me to death... ahh help...
Avatar f tn but when I woke up today, the numb feeling/tingling has returned (it seems happen when the ativan wears off). Is it possible to have withdrawal symptoms after having taken celexa for only 2 weeks?! Any insight would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn and I decided it was time to get a good night sleep. Starting me immediately on Ativan and Celexa and weening me off of the Ativan in the first month stopped my night terrors in there place. And for the first time, my family and I noticed those little oddities of mine were gone! I was happy, carefree, and NOT TIRED! This was 5 years ago. Ive been at the same dose of Celexa for 4 years. If I forget to take it for a few days I am angry, aggitated, and yes... Have night terrors again.
Avatar f tn I have ativan and I take soma as needed. I was put on celexa but I couldn't handle it it made me feel worse!! I talk to a transformational life coach but i'm thinking about seeing a therapist!!
11083698 tn?1415151204 First, pharmacists don't know anything about natural remedies. They don't get trained in them. Second, yes, if you're on Ativan, don't take GABA -- the Ativan is already targeting GABA. Don't take the taurine either. There are ways to take natural relaxants along with benzos, but if you're not expert in natural medicine I wouldn't play around.
695983 tn?1242774124 I went on Wellbutrin for 2 months, and got only mild relief (while taking ativan in the morning and afternoon) until about 4 pm each day, when the fog would come in a rush and there was no way to fight it without more ativan. Celexa gave me a break from my depression, and as my doctor predicted, it allowed me to remember what it felt like to be happy again.
Avatar n tn it was so bad i called my Dr. he said that celexa is a slow acting drug and to just give it some time and it will start working. i have some librium that i have been taking to make the days not so bad. it helps some. i have been taking my pill at night. and i sleep fine, until 5 AM then i am awake with full blown anxiety. it lasts all day. it eases up around 3 PM. and at night i am fine, feel great, normal. this morning was better than it has been. anxiety was not as bad as before.
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the input, I was on prozac last spring, and had an awful reaction, it took a few doses of xanex and ativan to get me out of it, after hours in the ER.. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have for over 20 years. I was on ZOloft for 14 or so years and it pooped out on me the fall of 2013 and ever since looking for the same wonder drug zoloft gave me...
1460652 tn?1340248730 ve been okay then all of a sudden major nausea with some dizziness (feeling like im about to pass out) today. then my anxiety kicked in and i was freaking out until i took an ativan, now i seem okay, just a little nauseous. i have bad health anxiety and am worried it is something serious. i know its not a bug and im not dehydrated...i am so anxious does anyone know what it could be? oh and i use condoms so im pretty sure im not pregnant either.
Avatar f tn I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?
1450728 tn?1292192822 The Celexa seems to be making my anxiety worse! I cannot sleep and have panic attacks at night. My husband tries to get me to breath through the attacks, rubs my back, has me do deep breathing. Nothing seems to help! My last resort is taking a Xanax. Within about 15 minutes, I feel a lot better. I know Xanax is a class D drug~~~not safe/or tested on pregnant women. I have read a lot about Ativan during pregnancy. Isn't this in the same drug category?
1779060 tn?1338646867 I was on autopilot all day everyday. The Celexa seemed to help and I have since stopped taking it. I have days that I feel like a zombie and everything appears surreal but not like it was. I hope you start feeling better very quickly.
Avatar f tn Just started ativan last night and I can barely stay awake today..also on ativan and abilfy..is this normal will the drowiness go away?
Avatar m tn My doctor thinks so and prescribed some Ativan and Celexa. I think I fell the affects of the Celexa because I feel like Im in a good mood most of the time. Im still having chest pains and my heart rate will increase for no apparent reason. Sometimes both hands will turn purple colors now. So Celexa has helped my mood but not my symptoms. Whats wrong with me?
1166402 tn?1303847056 I just started 20 mg of generic Celexa (3 days ago) and the doc also gave me Ambien and Klonopin (take .25mg) to relieve the anxiety until the Celexa kicks in. I wake up shaky/hot and kind of panicky. Which drug is this from drugs, or is it still the anxiety. I know this takes time, but I don't want to mess with any drugs that might be making the symptoms worse (i.e Klonopin or Ambien). I also don't want to become dependent on the Klonopin and ambien either.
