I checked with pharmacist and he said both Metoprolol and Atacand have shortness of breath side effects and spoke again with my dr and he said I should continue for a while.... because I have been using them for 3 month now... any suggestions?

I am probably experiencing every side effect this medicine can deliver. Have had 2 transfusions within 4 weeks of each other and the second one only increased my cell count from 7.5 to 7.7. I was given Procrit and was told that I may have to have this injection every week. I am also experiencing sores and problems in my mouth. Your father needs to follow his doctor's orders. Three yrs on these meds and so far no side effects I would not worry. As for side effect for long use? BP meds have to be taken long term otherwise the side effect " without" meds could be a stroke or heart attack. As for the natural stuff, it depends how high your father's BP is, and what his doctor says.
