Avatar f tn Atasand as I understand is a medication that is NOT a calcium channel blocker. Calcium channel blockers decrease blood preassures and it has been use for patients with hypertension. It also reduce chess pain caused by angina . Maybe it would be better for you to take calcium channel blocker.Ask you doctor. Metoprolol is a beta blocker. In my opinion no one should take BB if only has high blood pressure and not other heart condition. But I am not a doctor. Your BP is perfect now.
Avatar f tn My husband is a non-responder for the treatment he had, which was Pagasys and Riboflavin. He is looking for new treatment. He has genotype 1. Anyone with info? We live close to Sacramento.
Avatar n tn What does her doctor say? I would follow her dr.s advice.
Avatar m tn The ejection fraction is a useful measure of left ventricular performance. The normal range is 63-77% for males and 55-75% for females. It reflects the pumping capacity of the heart. This could be causing your symptoms of syncope and dyspnea. The basic cause for the diminished ejection fraction needs to be treated for the ejection fraction to improve. In your case the depressed left ventricular function, which could be due to the hypertrophy also the arrhythmias could be causing this.
1557045 tn?1294555036 5 hours of walking a day (to lose some weight). I have been exercising for the last 12 years straight. I had a CT Angiogram done for any Aortic disection or Aortic aneurysm, all came back clear, my aorta and all related vessels were within normal range. My cardiologist put me on Atacand as my blood pressure tended to be around 130/70, he advised me while my blood pressure wasnt excessively high, that taking Atacand would lower it a little and make my heart beat with greater efficiency.
Avatar n tn He takes Atacand, Norvasc and Bystalic for blood pressure, Zolof, Restasis for his eyes and an Excelon Patch for his memory. He is very stubborn and refuses to go to a geriatric doctor and his own doctors don't seem to know nor do they seem concerned about what's causing it.
Avatar f tn Hi all I am 50 (will b 51 in few months), with high bp managed with Atacand plus and last visit my doc said im perimenopausal. Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar n tn My 79 year old mother, who lives in another state, is on medication for hypertension. She takes Carvedilol, Diovan, Dilitiazem, and Clonidine. Her doctor even talked about putting her on a fifth medicine. I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't make sense to me for anyone to have that many different prescriptions for one problem.
Avatar m tn Currently I am on multiple of 3 BP pills for 6 or more depending on how high my BP goes, and 2 of 1 relaxent pill. Is there any value in getting acunpuncture to lower my BP. I'm only having a problem with the stystolic number mainly ranging between 150 and 220. If yes, is there a good site to go for a qualified acupuncturist for hypertention in the Detroit area? Also, I've had all the tests listed on webmd and more for hypertension, nothing was found wrong over the last 15 years.

Avatar n tn I also have what appears to be refractory hypertension. One year ago, when hypertension was dx, an echocardiogram indicated only mild regurgitation of the mitral, aortic, and tricuspid valves. My physician, at this time (EP for pacemaker), said this would go away once BP was controlled. Over a year later, despite seeing a hypertension specialist and trying many different drug regimines, BP still remains high.
Avatar m tn I certainly agree with is_,,, Trying to find the silver bullet, so to speak, has been a search since Heck was a pup, and Dante's Inferno has a place in hell for those who propose nostrums for profit reasons. I'd suggest you follow conventional medications, they have certainly extended my life beyond my expectations. Frankly, to disregard a doctor's prescription to follow an internet threat to me is reckless behavior. You have a serious disease and it is time to face it.
Avatar n tn I have a hx of migraines and recently dx'd with htn, for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing pressure in the back of my neck, occipital area along with feeling light headed ."foolish whoozy" (I was told a few years ago that my MRI showed calcium deposits on the base of the brain).
