1557045 tn?1294555036 My cardiologist put me on Atacand as my blood pressure tended to be around 130/70, he advised me while my blood pressure wasnt excessively high, that taking Atacand would lower it a little and make my heart beat with greater efficiency. In the last week or so I have experienced weakness and pain in my right arm and hand, mainly when lying down in bed. I have also started getting dizzy spells which is very hard to describe, at the moment feels like pressure in the back of my head.
Avatar m tn In November 2011 I had an echocardiogram at that time my LVEF was 60%. The mean pressure gradient was 16.5mHG, the max pressure gradient was 30.0 mmHG. The aortic valve area was calculated to be 0.70 cm² That echocardiogram was performed in a hospital. I had suffered it a stroke in November 2011 and the echocardiogram was taken while I was unconscious.
Avatar m tn ve been fighting high blood pressure for a few years now. In 2010 my Doctor had me wear a mobile automated blood pressure device to see how my blood pressure was over a 24hr period and it was consistently high (don't remember the numbers) so he put me on Atacand to help bring it down. At the same time I began changing my diet and started exercising regularly and ultimately lost 60lbs and was off the Atacand after a few months.
Avatar f tn re having some trouble with your blood pressure. I agree with your physician that 156/66 is too high. Your blood pressure should be below 130/80, with lower being even better if tolerated. Many things contribute to high blood pressure including age, genetics, weight, diet, exercise. It sounds like you're on the right track with your exercise. Aggressive diet and exercise can often get patients off of their medications altogether, especially if couple with weight loss.

Avatar m tn Regular aerobic exercise helps control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, both of which are risk factors for aortic dissections and ruptures of aortic aneurysms. Avoid weight lifting...Weight lifting causes temporary increases in blood pressure that could potentially result in an aortic dissection or rupture. Avatar n tn I'm sure this is probably nothing, but I've recently been referred to the hospital for tests due to high blood pressure. I'm only 24 and not over weight but have had blood pressure readings at the doctors office as high as 180/120. I had an appointment with a general specialist who didn't come to any conclusion as to what could be causing it. I have had numerous blood tests and ecg's.
529295 tn?1212772180 My husband is suffering with uncontrolled high blood pressure. He is 54 years old and in excellent physcial condition. He recently went to the hospital because he was having chest pains and pain in his left arm. EKG show satisfactory and took a stress test which showed no ischemia. He was released from the hospital and despite the emergency room test his BP continues to be erratic and uncontrolled with numbers like 161/95 after taking 4 pills.

Avatar n tn I have a hx of migraines and recently dx'd with htn, for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing pressure in the back of my neck, occipital area along with feeling light headed ."foolish whoozy" (I was told a few years ago that my MRI showed calcium deposits on the base of the brain). I also have fistures that occurs in the corners of my mouth periodically. Can all these symptoms be related?
Avatar f tn I read about a trial where they were using Candesartin (Atacand) to prevent scar tissue from forming in the liver, as it's an angiotensin receptor blocker. Atacand saved my life. I had heart failure, almost on the transplant list. I found a great doc at UCDavis (after firing one in Auburn who almost killed me), who put me on the Atacand. My heart is now normal! So when I saw this trial I was really curious.
Avatar n tn People at risk of abdominal aneurysms are older men, those who smoke, have high blood pressure or a family history of the condition. Diagnosis is through x-rays and sonograms. Experts hope the new technique becomes increasingly used in emergency situations".
Avatar n tn A couple months ago I had an outbreak of shingles....in my throat. It was excruciating pain in my throat and ear. With medication, the blisters disappeared, but my sense of taste was all fouled up when I was able to eat again. At first, things tasted metallic or chemically, then that subsided and things tasted like cardboard, and now, I can taste mostly extremely salty or sweet food.
Avatar f tn I've always had low bp, usually around 100/50 and my heart rate runs from 48 to 58 and I function completely normally. Even after exercising or jogging, it's rarely above 90. Very seldom do I get dizzy and I think when I do get dizzy, it has more to do with my breathing than my heart rate - my sinuses are so bad. I'm extremely active most of the time and it doesn't slow me down a bit.
745331 tn?1232830226 She was able to take Plavix, but doctors said not Coumadin. You can have blood work to determine the thickness of your blood. The aspirin may be enough for you.
Avatar n tn I got sick and tired of feeling like a Zombie because of the Medication. I seem ok with my Atacand blood pressure Medication. I decided I didn't want to feel unwell no more and have a better quality of life and to feel well. I turned to an experienced naturepath who is also certified as a professional. She put me on a few natural alternatives and diet. I also stepped up my excercise regime.
Avatar f tn I have the same results as you do. My blood pressure is about 130/90 and my cholesterol was 298. I am taking Crestor 20 mg a day, my ejection factor is 55 which they say is normal but I still take all these medicines for Congestive Heart Failure. Have you ever been tested for Atrial Fibrillation? If not, it is very important. It's when your heart races real fast. I have it and I am 61 years old but I take Multaq and Digoxin in very small doses. Some days I feel so weak.
443862 tn?1237999439 Metoprolol is meant to keep your heart from racing, or going into tachacardia. Your heart rate variations are perfectly normal, as well as your fluxuations in blood pressure. Can't really comment on your other symptoms without more info.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry, I forgot to say that the drugs and IVs they put me on in the hospital were to bring down the blood pressure and thin my blood. That's why I felt lightheaded and dizzy. I am sure that is why your pressure and heart rate are down also.
Avatar n tn Shortness of breath, low blood pressure, low heart rate...??? The fatigue and a feeling of weakness in the main muscles (legs) can be due to a shortage of oxygen getting to the muscles. I assume the PM is to assure the heart rate doesn't go too low, i.e., below 50 or 60 you mention. But, does the HR come up when physical activity is undertaken? What does his doctor recommend relative to physical exercise?
