29837 tn?1414538248 But, I can still do the treadmill, just at a slower speed and stationary bike, slower speed. On the nautilus equipment that I would do at the gym, I'd cut back from 3 sets of 12 reps to like 2 sets of 8 reps and drop some of the amount of weight, too. That's my tenative plan for whenever that next tx happens. If I'm doing great and can handle more, than I will, but if I'm very anemic it may be all I can handle. It's a wait & see...
Avatar n tn This is a big category -- you can do a ton of things at home, especially if you buy some equipment. If you're wealthy you can build your own gym at home. You can buy a stationary bike or elliptical machine for the home. You can do yoga, pilates, calisthenics, push ups, crunches of an incredible variety. So given you can do so much at home, the question would be, what is it you're trying to accomplish. You can also buy a ton of videos out there that have home exercise programs on them.
11079760 tn?1483389730 This morning, I woke early to try out a few things and see how it goes. I have done quite literally no exercise in about 1.5 years (ugh). I have lots of excuses...the end result is the same. Bleh.
483733 tn?1326802046 A big balance ball, a medicine ball, resistance bands, and small hand weights are also in my arsenal. I also found a really big floor mat online. Most of the mats in stores are not very wide, and it's kinda discourging if you don't feel like you fit well on your mat! Also, the wide mat is a great surface to do my video workouts on, and gives my joints an extra layer of padding on top of my shoes and carpet. Hmmm, I feel pretty guilty that I skipped my AM workout now!
Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old male, doing an intense at home exercise program. I take a beta blocker each morning for hypertension. However, I notice that when I exercise my heart rate either doesn't get as high as desirable or takes much longer to get there. In fact, the last time I had did an echo stress test my heart rate took an extra long time to get to the desired level. The cardiologist told me that next time I should take the beta blocker after the stress test.
649848 tn?1534637300 1) FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE 2) DO IT CONSISTENTLY 3) DO IT AT LEAST 4 DAYS/WEEK, NO MATTER WHAT!!! 4) CALL SKAILARK A NAME - THEN YOU'LL HAVE A CHALLENGE ON YOUR HANDS Don't wait till you feel like it. Tell yourself that you ARE doing it, and then STOP thinking about it! JUST DO IT! If you think about it, you'll talk yourself out of it.
Avatar f tn I'm not saying that it's a cure all, but it has helped my LFT's stay much lower than they were prior than my starting the exercise routine. My blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol, all in the normal/good range.
579258 tn?1250652943 Congratulations on posting and acknowledging your “allergy” to exercise. As you describe your array of equipment and videos, I was shaking my head in agreement as I own many as well, some that still need brought out of hibernation. I Believe there are several keys that help us “unlock” our willingness to exercise – and I hope you’ll allow me to share a few of those with you. 1.
Avatar f tn I too would disagree with the suggestion not to exercise. It makes no sense, though it sure does sound (pseudo)scientific. One other thing to note is that if it were true, you can bet it would be common knowledge and we'll all be advised not to exercise intensely, get massages, or even stand up.
Avatar n tn ) I think I would have taken even the 34% reduction over no relief at all a few weeks ago! It's good to hear that other people have had at least some success with magnesium! Almost all of the supplement PILLS I researched showed extremely low, less then > 40% dissolution and > 20 % absorption rates versus liquid magnesium which had immediate dissolution rates and up to 98% absorption rates starting in the mouth upon taking it.
Avatar n tn You will reach this very easily at first. If you exercise regularly at or below this rate, you will experience cardiovascular adaptation, and in time it will be HARD for you to reach this heart rate. I trained this way for 1 year, and am 46 years old. Use to have high rate, now it is tough for me to reach 135 - 140 BPM. Resting heart rate is also down to 50. Get his book...heart rate training. It works.
Avatar n tn Hey guys, Well, it has been 5 years since I graduated college and began working 50+ hours a week in a fairly stressful job. Unfortunately, my exercise routine from college took a back burner after I entered the workforce. I don't smoke, drink coffee, and rarely drink. Nutritionally, I don't have the best diet, but it's not the worst either. I could eat more fruits/vegetables, but I don't live on fast food either.
Avatar m tn If you find your acne is aggravated by regular exercise, then you may want to examine your routine. What do you wear? Where do you go? How hard do you work? Exercise-related acne is usually caused by something you put on your body rather something you do with it. Remove these outside factors, and you may put an end to your workout breakouts. Here are just a few things to watch for. Acne & Exercise - Make-up. When exercising, wear as little make-up as possible.

572651 tn?1531002957 I just saw a PT yesterday for my bursitis hip and she gave me a set of exercises to do at home. While I was doing foot-pumps and leg lifts to fire my hip muscles., I was wondering what others do to keep active. We all have varying degrees of physical abilities - so don't be embarassed if you can't tell us you ran the NY marathon or do ballroom dancing three times a week. No matter how small or large, everything counts toward being active.
Avatar f tn I thought about doing that, but once again, if I don't have the time/energy to use the equipment and dvd's that I already have at home, there's no reason to believe I will make good use of a gym membership either. When I'm working, I have to get up at 3:30 am in order to make it to work on time; by the time I get home in the afternoon, I'm just too tired to do a lot of exercising, along with running the household, cooking, laundry, paying bills, etc.
Avatar f tn If I do not take Grady to the mall or out to work he gets bored and starts causing mischief at home to tell me so. Even now with me very ill I walked him at the mall today because I know he is frustrated. I now no longer need to lose weight I just get out to keep moving.
80575 tn?1207135964 I used to go out to a gym, but it was harder for me to drag myself out to a 'place' and get into trafffic and be around all the people (when I was doing the treatments), so I ended up making up my own routine at home. I also do some floor exercises as part of my exercise thing. Everybody has to figure out what works best for them. Some people might enjoy swimming and some people might enjoy tennis or bike riding.
Avatar n tn It has helped me immensely educating me about the best combination of foods paired with the best use of weights. You can workout at home with a minimum of weights and fitness equipment. By making some (not a lot - mostly cutting back on added sugars) necessary diet changed you will feel awesome by July, on the right path to a fitter you and healthier lifestyle. I know you can do it even if it takes longer than my time frame you'll learn so much during your journey.
172023 tn?1334675884 I frequently look for reasons to avoid intentionally exercising. I have no idea why, because I feel good while exercising, and always feel better and more committed to a healthy lifestyle afterwards. But I'm constantly making excuses for not going to the gym. I know there are many things I can do at home that aren't labeled "exercise", and I do them, but I also enjoy working out at the gym. So why do I avoid it whenever I can?
1831849 tn?1383231992 On another board there is a thread labeled Exercise Accountability. It is members post brief descriptions of there ongoing exercise activity. Posting to the thread helps keep me motivated. I've started this journal to provide my MedHelp friends a place to do the same. My journal is open to all who care to post. :-) Kyle Today I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes and covered 2.5 miles. I carried 3LB hand weights and did random arm exercises.
Avatar f tn Walk at lunchtime, or stop by the gym before you get home. Make a commitment to exercise for a month straight, no excuses. After three to four weeks, the habit should be forming, and you won’t have to struggle with it every day. Remember the reasons you want to exercise. If you think you have no reason to exercise, then you won’t be motivated. Teach yourself on why lifelong exercise is important to your health and well being, even if you are already slim and in good health.
Avatar f tn Add some of these exercises to your routine before retiring, and you can burn your belly fat in no time. Whether at the gym or at home, you can burn fat by lifting weights before bed. Resistance training burns fat while you do it, but it also elevates your metabolic rate for up to 48 hours according to “The Abs Diet.” If you do full body workouts every other day, you can burn more belly fat all week long.
Avatar f tn Do 2 sets of 15 repetitions for each exercise then go home! No cardio on this day Wednesday-do some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 20-30 minutes. If you walked on Monday swim, cycle, elliptical, stepper this day. Thursday-strength training for back/shoulders/core. Workout at least 30 minutes and try to increase your length of workout and resistance every week. Friday-cardo. Same as Wednesday.
Avatar m tn Views from various doctors range from do no exercise at all to just do mild running to do anything you like. (Highly myopic -18). Doctor, what do you think?
469720 tn?1388149949 In my mind, I think that calcium scoring is a very important motivational tool for someone who would change their life style of diet, exercise and nutrition if they had a compelling reason. Some people genuinely need that kick in the butt. But for the person who is doing exactly what they should be in terms of lifestyle and medical risk reduction for cholesterol or hypertension, there is little to be gained. Now lets look at a particular exception. You are a 45 year old male.
850033 tn?1239137014 You could get an exercise video, you could join a gym, buy some home exercise equipment (winters are long in Ohio, you'd use it!), even just do exercises while watching tv. Health weight loss plans can be found everywhere online. But do make sure it is a healthy weight loss plan. You are motivated to lose weight and that is great, but people who do radical diets generally can't maintain them. If you do, in fact, develop diabetes, you need to learn healthy eating you can live with ongoing.
349463 tn?1333575176 you guessed it gummie bears and this other pregnant woman was doing the same we looked at one another and just started laughing. I kicked up my exercise routine so I don't feel so bad about my two cravings. I'm fine with the regular pregnancy weight, but need to work on what I call the Gummie Bear effect where my butt is getting huge because of my sweet tooth. I just need to work out enough to burn off the 400 calories a day I have in sweets. What about you guys? What is your top craving?
Avatar f tn As you can see from the title I am new to all of this crazy fitness stuff and I am so lost! I recently started working out at home after a short 1 month run in a gym. I had to quit because things got tough economically (I'm from Venezuela) and I didn't feel my trainer was pushing me hard enough because at the end of my routine I wasn't even tired and I didn't see any changes whatsoever.
Avatar m tn My first recommendation is to check out a couple of web sites and try to come up with an eating plan, then work on the exercise routine. Organize your eating plan to include several (5-6) small meals/snacks per day - that way your blood sugar will maintain stability and you will be able to keep your hunger in check a lot easier. I'm counting on you to hang in here with us, so don't jumping ship just yet. OK?
