Common Questions and Answers about Astelin spray

astelin

Avatar f tn ve been seeing an allergist because my allergies have really bothered me this year. He prescribed a medicine that is a nasal spray called Astelin. I hope I don't seem 'weird' asking his but have any of you been on one of these type of nasal sprays while having Hep C? If so, did you feel worse using the spray? I've been on it two days and it's making the area of my liver hurt and also in between my shoulder blades.
Avatar n tn A quick trip to the doctor and I was told that I had some kind of nasty allergic reaction which clogged my sinuses, gave me a post nasal drip which in turn caused the sore throat and asthma to act up. She prescribed Astelin, a nasal spray antihistamine and described the allergic reaction as a sort of systemic thing and that the astelin should clear it all up. That was Wednesday. I've been using it as told since then and I've only really noticed a very very slight improvement.
Avatar m tn would a nasal spray help with the clicking and head aches and feeling of a full head and ear??
Avatar f tn ve also been taking Atenolol and spraying copious amount of Astelin nasal spray up my nose several times in the evening and at night. I have even been letting it run down the back of my throat and swallowing it because it's the only thing that makes me feel at least somewhat relaxed and sleepy. However, I have begun to wonder if the Astelin and/or Atenolol might be actually aggravating my anxiety symptoms and making me feel worse.
Avatar f tn Nope, no explanation. I wish I could ask questions there but I totally freeze up because I get extremely nervous. Then I try to come on here and get answers. I'm frustrated having to deal with this and I'm sure you are as well. This will be day 2 on the steroids and the Astelin nasal spray. No improvement yet but I'm trying to be patient. My doctor said they were going to refer me to an ENT if this hadn't resolved in 2 weeks. How long has this been going on for you?
Avatar n tn t say exactly what the problem was, but she sprayed my inner wrist with al albutuerol spray and it felt as if i had been stung by a bee, an d it raised a nickel sized welt. two weeks later i still have a slight mark on my skin. now i'm worried that i had permanent damage when i used combivent and albuterol a few months ago. (i first came up with this because i also took astelin and that produced similar bronchospasms...
Avatar n tn Added Astelin nasal spray and double Protonix dosage (10 days) Testing: Normal Chest XRAY Normal CT Scan Sinus Pending: Barium Swallow So, nothing is helping and the sensations are very troubling. IT is worth noting that I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroidits about one year ago because of active anti thyroid antibodies.
Avatar m tn He has been to an allergist a few years ago foudn out he was allergic to trees, grass etc and animal dander and was prescribed steroid spray and it helped some after a few days but I wanted to know is there new drugs that will help or should we just try to suffer through? Someone has mentioned antihistimine spray??? PLease give any and all advice on heling his allergies.
Avatar f tn I feel your pain. I have had chronic sinusitis for probably 25 years. I was a smoker and all of the doctors said what can you expect, you are a smoker. I quit 20 years ago and the chronic sinusitis never let up. I have had the classic allergy tests and gone in for shots 3x per week and that did nothing. I have gone to a dozen allergists and they have tried sprays and medicine that work for a month and assumed that I had asthma which none of the treatments work.
Avatar n tn Yes I tried Astelin, with all the thick post nasal drainage and my eyes get watery, well after I use the Astelin at night, I wake up in the morning and my eyes are not watery but they almost look like the tear film thickened up over my eyes as well as making the post nasal drainage thicker. I think seriously that I have tried EVERY nasal spray that was ever invented. My doctor even had a pharmacy make up a special nose spray for me .
Avatar f tn Hi there I am a 48 year old male with a history of chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis. I also have a deviated septum on the left side. Allergies run very deep in my family and this year (from what I understand) has been an especially harsh time for people suffering from allergies.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have several suggestions. First, add a sinus rinse to your routine. They sound gros, but they are so effective. Another thought is to cosider trying Patanase instead of the Astelin. Astelin wasn't a problem for me, but it sucesseors Astepro and Astepro 0.15% were horrible. I felt better when I didn't use the med then when I did. I got very congested after using it and it lasted about 5 hour with constant, Astepro drainage. Lastly, it may be time to consider allergy shots.
Avatar n tn have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
Avatar n tn My allergist says my underlying problem all along has been allergic rhinitis, and she has put me on Nasonex and Astelin, besides given me instructions on 'dust-proofing' my bedroom. I'm an otherwise healthy 30 y/o male with no previous history of allergies or any serious/chronic illness. I recently also had a blood test, which was normal except for slightly elevated Lymphocytes. My question: Can allergic rhinitis present without coughing, runny/congested nose and itchy eyes?
548980 tn?1214822412 I eat well, I drink lots and lots of water, I dont drink alcohol, I do smoke-which i know i need to stop, and im on Nasonex spray, Astelin Spray, Allegra, Antivert (take as needed), Klonopin and Paxel (sp?). The Klonopin and Paxel are for the anxiety... Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone I am a 48 year old male with a history of GAD, OCD, depression, Panic Disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, IBS, GERD, Gastritis, Cervical Arthritis (bone spur), Alergic Rhinitis and Chronic Sinusitis. I Don't drink or smoke (although I once did) and am currently taking Atenolol, Prevacid, Astelin nasal spray and Ativan (I've been tapering off of this for over a month now).
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. 2 or 3 days per week, I awake with a dull pressure-headache in my forehead, fullness in left eustachian tube, slight nasal congestion, malaise, very dry mouth, and scratchy throat.. The symptoms usually reduce a by the afternoon. I have noticed that this usually happens even after full night's sleep. In fact, if I sleep only 5 hours at night, then I don't get these symptoms. However, if I sleep a full 7-8 hours, I get the symptoms. I find this strange!
Avatar m tn if because of any reason some blood or sexual liquid of her(i know it is unusual but with accepting this) entered to this deodorant spray in the past and the virus og hiv remain in it and then after she sprayed it the viruses entere to my body(for example from a small hurt in my skin) and infect me. is there any risk of hiv?

Avatar n tn t want to self-diagnose) to be related to stress and worry about some other recent health issues concerning my blood pressure, but also very possibly related to recent usage of Astelin antihistamine nasal spray and Benadryl capsules. Also before that, earlier in the Spring, I had used a baby aspirin daily for about 1 1/2 - 2 months because I had read that it helps your chances to become pregnant if you have an elevated ANA, which I have for several years now.
Avatar f tn There are many other name brands for that class of medicine. Astepro is a nasal spray antihistamine. It stops the sinus cells from reacting to allergens. There are only two meds in this category. Astepro and Patanase. There is an older version of Astepro called Astelin which may stil be available to you, but the company is working to phase it out. Also a prescription strength antihistamine like Allegra might be a good idea. Feel better and hang in there.
Avatar n tn I have googled it to no end. He also put me on Astelin which has helped a ton and he said Docs cant be so quick to judge and just call everything allergies. The reason I dont have allergies is I am just congested in the face and nose I dont have anyother sypmtoms such as Itchy anything or sore throats.
