Common Questions and Answers about Arthritis knee wrap

Avatar f tn Happy, happy, joy, joy . . . I have arthritis in my right knee (sought help because of the Baker's cyst I've coped with since June). My MS journey began with a rheumy two - three years ago, but there was no indication of arthritis at that time. I moved on to a neurologist and quickly left thoughts of arthritis behind, but I'M Baaaack (read that in a slow creepy voice :).

Avatar f tn Here is a remedy that gave me almost instant relief from my torn meniscus; plus the arthritis; all in my left knee... of course I'm a cyclist which has helped tremendously... Here's my story: Castor Oil & Pain??? Call it what you wish, Voodoo, Witchcraft, ‘BS’, whatever….but it DID work for me and my Sports Ortho can't believe it...
230262 tn?1316645934 I use a heating pad on my knee when it flares. I use heat wrap when I want to be mobile. I find that they both help. Voltaren Gel has not been very effective for me but I know it has been for others as Runningmom attests.
Avatar f tn Maybe it's just me with some sort of early arthritis at the age of 31... but every night my knees and elbows are very painful. I did use to have some seldon pain there prior to pregnancy, but now it is ever night. Anyone else experiencing this?
Avatar m tn Last year I got septic arthritis in my left knee. Had 10 bouts of surgery on my knee to washout the knee. I still get alot of pain in my knee. I had had a recent MRI which no one can explain to me satisfactorely. Hope you can be of help. The MRI states: "Severe degeneration of the medial and lateral menisci noted with fraying of the articular surface and inner free edge of the menisci. No ligament injury is seen.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Osteo arthritis and my right knee is bone on bone - however I seem to have severe leg problems even though my knee rarely hurts. Also my lower pain constantly hurts. I can not walk a half block nor stand for more than 5 minutes, my legs burn and ache constantly and I have no leg strength. No one else I know has these problems with the arthritis - aches and pains yes - but they can walk - I can barely walk and it hurts to do so. No pain medications even ease the pain.
Avatar m tn While waiting for your dr. appointment, have you taken an x-ray to see if there's noticable damage? In the meantime, there may be a natural remedy for relief; it's helped my torn cartilage and arthritis in my left knee... no pain, no swelling... Here's my story: Castor Oil & Pain??? Call it what you wish, Voodoo, Witchcraft, ‘BS’, whatever….but it DID work for me.
Avatar m tn Recently, 5 days ago I think, I fell on this knee pretty badly and as you can imagine this brought a world of pain. When I got home, I rubbed some Hotemin cream on the knee, I put a wrap on it and I took an Acteric tablet to help with the pain of walking (or limping, in my case). The wrap was one of those you just pull over the knee, not an actual length of cloth wrapped around the knee and at first I thought it was just the right fit, being a little tight.
Avatar f tn Come to find out, I had a cyst in my knee that was created from arthritis. The cyst was in my knee and traveled down my leg pushing on the nerve. I had surgery about 3 weeks ago. I have a nice 7" scar down the side of my leg. After a couple months, I MAY see some improvement. 15 months out, I should know where I end up. Nerve was damaged by cyst and him playing in there also tramatized the nerve. My wife has back issues. last spring, she developed foot drop.
Avatar m tn t hurt to run, but when I do any leg lift movements especially bringing my knee towards my chest, it starts hurting, but when I stretch it by bringing my knee to my chest and holding it, it immediately goes away. Also, when I wrap my hip flexor with ace wrap, I can play soccer with absolutely no pain while slide tackling and lifting my leg--it is only tight sometimes but no pain.
Avatar f tn I used to play a lot of soccer and have not in years, but I remember having knee and ankle pain quite often, enough so that I frequently wore knee braces and wrapped both ankles. I now play golf, and after playing one day I noticed some knee pain. There was no specific incident or sudden onset of pain - it just gradually appeared. I also started hearing more popping noises than usual, but now it hurt and I felt movement.
Avatar n tn Other factors that can contribute to developing knee arthritis include trauma to the knee, meniscus tears or ligament damage, and fractures to the bone around the joint. I think, it is the trauma and ligament tear, that have contributed to arthritis in your case. If the arthritis in your case is rheumatic or due to any other cause that should be treated first to prevent all these symptoms.
Avatar f tn It got better. Last week my left knee began to hurt very severly; on outside of the knee... have no swelling... and my leg below knee to the toes radiate and tingle with pain also. Sometimes have shooting pains throughout the back and leg (left) Sometimes have horrible pain in back and front of chest up to the shoulder blades. Both my wrists hurt. All for no reason.. I had a car accident 29 years ago; had broken odontoid. 28 years ago car hit me and I fell off a cliff.
Avatar n tn Though she was all fine till last month. Then she has a minor accident where she injured her right knee. Since then it has swollen and she can not walk. Doctors said that she has Peripheral Arthritis as well. They gave her one Steroid injection and started her on sulfasalazine (1gm per day). Her pain has gone, but she still can not walk. She feel weak and stiffness while walking. It is 6 weeks since her accident and 2 week since her medication started.
Avatar n tn There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on. I don't know your age but my first guess would be arthritis, especially because of the way you describe it. Often when arthritis begins it will be after you rest an fairly active knee. And yes you can have it in just one knee.
Avatar f tn Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Pain in the back of the knee can be caused by arthritis or Bakers cysts (cystic accumulation of synovial fluid, also causes a swelling). So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee.

Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint.

Avatar m tn t suggest arthritis to me, I have arthritis of the knee and I get pain in the knee, also in muscles that work the knee. I don't get numbness anywhere else. I'm not medically qualiified but a doctor should check this out, whatever it is you will be better off with treatment.
Avatar m tn I'll do my best to answer this, but it's best to consult a rheumatologist. Injury can affect any of the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the knee joint. Injury can also affect the ligaments, cartilage, menisci (plural for meniscus), and bones forming the joint. The complexity of the design of the knee joint and the fact that it is an active weight-bearing joint are factors in making the knee one of the most commonly injured joints.
Avatar f tn They either only lift with another finger or they just barely lift at all. I have a wrap that I use if I notice the locking is getting worse and it definitely seems to help a lot. Accompanied by all of this, I've noticed that in my back and my ankles, I've been getting feelings similar to trapped air bubbles in the joints, if that makes any sense. These feelings are painless as well and only happen when I move them a certain way (like stretching out my back).

1207048 tn?1282174304 ve had knee pain and catching for awhile and just found out two days ago, when they x-rayed it, that I have bone-on-bone arthritis in my knee!! Hard to believe that all the aching around my knee and down the rest of my leg is from arthritis. Tendon problems can cause aching (worse at night) too--I was previously diagnosed with posterior tibial tendon syndrome, which runs from the inside of the ankle down the bottom of the foot into the big toe. Have you seen a podiatrist about your ankle pain?
