Common Questions and Answers about Armour thyroid good or bad

armour-thyroid

Avatar f tn I called my primary care doctor and asked her to prescribe Armour thyroid for me until I found a new endocrinologist. She did. Within 3 days the pins & needles were gone, the pounding in my ears disappeared and my blood pressure went back to normal.
803938 tn?1403748253 No one? Sniff!! I'd like to add some natural stuff sold in health nature stores to my regular Armour medication, but some one I know told me it's not a good idea to combine both. This person is not a thyroid expert so I'd like to see what people here recommend!
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know the reasons for this? I have to admit that I am surprised that Armour is working so well for me, after all the negative things I have read about it. And I am equally surprised that Erfa is not so great for me as it seems to be for many others.
Avatar n tn I need a good thyroid dr. in the Madison WI. My Dr. Is refusing to prescribe Armour Thyroid now. He wants me on synthetic thyroid. I have been on Armour for six years and feel fine. My counts are good other than TSH which is surpressed 0.015 which it also has been for years. Any names of a good thyroid dr. that will continue to prescribe the Armour? I hate to be forced into ordering it overseas.
Avatar f tn I received RAI for hyperthyroid and after two years of trying different meds I finally take armour thyroid 120mg, my blood work is fine but I don't feel fine. I have started taking cytomel 12.5mcg thinking that may give me a little more energy and help with a little weight loss. I'm wondering if anyone has added extra t3 with the armour thyroid and had good results. My doctor doesn't know about this yet...
Avatar f tn I would HIGHLY recommend a dessicated version like Armour, Nature Thyroid, or ERFA (Canadian) This already has the T4, T3, and even T1 and T2 that you need to feel good. Feel free to ask questions if you have them. PS. I know first hand since I have been down the thyroid road.
Avatar m tn I am still having a million and ten issues with my thyroid treatment (TT in Dec 07) so can empathise with you on the doc not listening. My endo wants to rip shreds off my surgeon for never sending me to ANY endo, good, bad or indifferent for over a year! Keep your chin up otherwise it drags on the ground and then you'll have gravel rash and one more thing to worry about! Cheers!
Avatar f tn I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Now I have been reading about the new formulation and am wondering if I would do better with getting my levels up if I switched to the ERFA? Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. It sounds like you can easily have your RX changed to a different pharmacy that would provide the ERFA. Has anyone done this?
171867 tn?1271044148 So i am at my witts ends I know to have ALL the test done which I do, since I cant find a endo that is worth a dime, they all stink i found a new pc who treats the symptoms but he feels i am too obsessed with my numbers .. but I try and tell him I correlate my symptoms with my numbers so when Ifeel good or bad I know where my numbers should be.. so had them done 3 weeks ago just gota letter saying they looked good and my hashis is stable. So i cant get armour anymore?
Avatar n tn Armour is a T3/T4 combination, where synthroid is only T4, with the idea that the body converts T4 to T3. And Armour is a natural form, it's derived primarily from pig thyroid. I have been taking Armour for almost 3 years. There have been issues lately with availability, and if you contact Stella5349 on this forum, she can share more on that. Or, go on the "Save Natural Thyroid" page on Facebook, where you can find a ton of info on the shortages.
Avatar f tn I would like to get established with a good doctor who will treat me (with Armour or something desiccated) in the New Orleans area. Does anyone know of a good thyroid doc in this area who listens, and will treat symptoms, not just numbers? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm writing from Stockholm, Sweden and I tried Armour thyroid for a while. It's very hard for us in Sweden to get hold of armour thyroid or erfa from the States nor Canada. So I have to make my desicions wisely. When I took Armour Thyroid (The new Armour Thyroid) I felt "foggy" all the time and I lost hair rapidly. I quit the treatment and am now thinking about switching to either nature thyroid or Erfa. I don't know which one's better.
6322039 tn?1380727998 m doing the right thing or not or just throwing good money after bad, but if this doctor is willing to treat me by symptoms and not lab results, all I can do is see how it goes. If anyone has input on the following: 1. My current FT3/FT4 levels 2. Cholesterol levels (to statin or not to statin, this is the question) 3. Whether other hormones really need to be 'balanced' or am I falling for 'Woo'? 4. Whether supplements are as vital as they're made out to be. 5.
533212 tn?1245849211 My question is after researching the internet, and reading a lot of good press for Armour Thyroid, should I ask my doctor to put me on Armour Thyroid or just add a prescription for Cytomel to bring my T3 levels back within range. Out of curiosity, I've decided to look at all the previous tests that I have accumulated over the past 19 years, and discovered that in all those years I had not been tested for T3 levels until just recently. Go figure. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
535882 tn?1396576685 Listen,be very carefull when it comes to compounded thyroid or even Armour. Neither can be regulated. In fact I believe Armour is going to be taken off the market because it cannot be regulated. I too take Armour and I prefer Armour to Synthroid or even compounded however, I think Armour may have some issues as far as purity. Have you has your adrenals checked? I am on 3 grains of Armour which is the the equivalant to .
Avatar f tn I was on levothyroxin and did not do well. I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. Avatar f tn Looking for a good thyroid doctor or Endocrinologist in Wisconsin...preferably near Madison area or Milwaukee area...who will order full thyroid labs. PLEASE HELP!!! I'd discovered thyroid issues run in my family and that 2 relatives have Hashimoto's disease. I have shown many symptoms of some sort of thyroid problem...BUT my doctor will not order full thyroid labs (T3, T4, etc.) She has only tested for TSH and isn't convinced that there is a problem. Thank you!
Avatar f tn that is tied especially to Armour or other natural dessicated thyroid meds and it is about a 2 week cycle. And at least one site recommended that increases for Armour should be done in small increments about every two weeks. What you describe above seems to be in direct agreement with that theory. Hyper is most commonly associated with: Rapid heart beat (high pulse) or racing heart beat.
535882 tn?1396576685 How is it to switch to Armour or Natural. does it take long? Are there side effects? Do you feel the switch ? Is it noticable? Thanks docs. thinking of switching me. waiting on blood results. Thanks For any info.
595417 tn?1222819446 Your going to have to build your adrenals up first before any thyroid med will help. In fact in some cases you can make it worse if your adrenals are in real bad shape. Adrenal failure is a life threatening situation....have you been diagnosed with this? Or are you saying you think you have adrenal weekness? You need to take a good form of B's 2-3 times per day....high dosage of good vit c and get a good adrenal support from your local health food store.
