2125271 tn?1335279091 Yes, I take 3 grains of Armour Thyroid daily. I was on 200 mcg of Synthroid for well over 25 years and still had lingering hypo symptoms. My TSH was about .05 during that time, so doctors usually wanted to reduce my meds. After finding this Forum and learning about the importance of Free T3, I got mine tested and confirmed as low in the range. My doctor then switched my meds to Armour and after some tweaking, I now feel best ever. My Free T3 is 3.9 (range of 2.3 - 4.2) and Free T4 is .
Avatar n tn How do you switch from levethyroxine to armour thyroid! Taking 150mcg levethyroxine how much armour would you take doctor does not seem to know?
Avatar n tn t experience classic hyperthyroid symptoms after severe over-dosing by my GP on Armour, indicate Peripheral Thyroid Hormone Resistance (myopathy being lack of thyroid hormone in my tissues)? My neurologist (not the Dr. who is dosing my thyroid) is looking into all possibilities, including referring me to muscle specialist or a thyroid one, etc..., so I will be printing off your reply for supplying to him. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn I am on Armour Thyroid 90mg., my lab test showed a TSH of 0.09 BUT...my Free t3 is 244-(230-420 range) Thyroxine free direct-1.10 (0.8-1.8 range) My symptoms of low thyroid persist..constipation (must use laxatives) very dry scaly skin problems, fatigue, gaining weight using exercise and low carb. eating., neuropathy in feet (not diabetic). I think my free levels are way too low. I feel best when my levels are at least at the middle of their ranges. What is your opinion?
Avatar m tn is anybody have problem with armour thyroid?. I think nobody should try this medication. My thyroid was attenuated by radioactive iodine. dr.gave me lavothyroxin then change to armour thyroid. Since then I have severe pain on my hips and lower back. He tested my TSH T3 AND T4 --normal then he tried bactireal tests--normal. ultimately he swithed me to cytomel and levthyroxin. My pain reduced to half but it is not going away. Now Dr. himself is puzzed . I have still have half pain and cramps.
Avatar m tn And that many people are reporting that they do not feel as well. One woman said she changed from Armour to Nature Thyroid and she immediately felt better and stated taht others are reporting similar issues with Armour. I have noticed my wife has been having fatigue symptoms that are reminicent of when she was very Hypo. This despite her fairly recently having her Armour dosage increased (she is on 3 grains - 180 mgs per day split dose). So the rumor would fit what I have seen in my wife.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Armour thyroid with satisfactory results. Unfortunately, I can't find a pharmacy that has it in stock. My M.D. has suggested that I begin taking Synthroid and I am scared that my symptoms may return. I am taking 90mg of Armour and my prescription is for 150mcg of Synthroid. If I have no choice and must change, how do you suggest I make the change.
Avatar n tn ver seen a few postings about adrenal fatigue in this forum, and read that in the presence of taking Armour thyroid or maybe any thyroid supplement, that the symptoms of adrenal fatique can become worse. Maybe this can explain why I feel even less well on the armour? Was also told that 30 mg daily is a very small amount. I don't want to take a thyroid medication if it's not really needed.
Avatar f tn 9 T3 total 105 Doc wanted me to take Synthroid, I said no, I want Armour. I have been taking Armour 30mg in the morning for 10 days. After 3 days, heart palps, hot sweats, violent panic/anxiety, racing hyper manic feeling, hysteria etc. Day 11 stopped cold turkey, could not stand it any more. Day 2 of no Armour, very weepy and depressed, in the pm had to sleep, wake up with anxiety. I know I have some adrenal burn out.
Avatar n tn before retesting according to the dr. The dr. says taking Amour Thyroid caused the abnormal labs. She thinks Armour Thyroid is not meant for humans because it is pig thyroid. I pointed out that lots of medication comes from animal urine, tropical plants, etc.. She will not do any other testing as far as the thyroid is concerned. She does not see a purpose for all the other test.
Avatar n tn I have a relative that is using Armour Thyroid while she was leaving in the United States. She moved to Spain and would like to know if it is possible to get the same medication there or if there is an equivalent medication in Spain.\ Thanks.
Avatar f tn s the difference between OTC thyroid supplements and Armour? Are thyroids processed differently? I thought the thyroid itself is a gland, so how can the stuff in an OTC supplement be glandular but not contain much thyroid hormones?
Avatar n tn Through his nonconventional tests he diagnosed me right away and put me on Armour Thyroid. All my symptoms disappeared and I began to feel great. After learning more about hypothyroidism I am convinced I have had it most of my adult life. Upon further investigation I found out that my mom had it and her sister (my aunt) AND my daughter's blood work just came back indicating she may have hypothryoidism as well. She is nine.
Avatar f tn I was on levothyroxin and did not do well. I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Now I have been reading about the new formulation and am wondering if I would do better with getting my levels up if I switched to the ERFA? Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. It sounds like you can easily have your RX changed to a different pharmacy that would provide the ERFA.
Avatar n tn Its been my experience that nothing helped me either. I found a doctor that put me on ARMOUR thyroid and I became human again. The doc has to take things slow with you due to your age. I am 60 and they rushed me on synthroid and levothyroxine and almost killed me. Once I switched to Armour which is all natural, I became normal with in a few days.
Avatar f tn Tsh is 3.68. What can I do for anxiety.
Avatar n tn m not sure what other tests should be done, but there are a lot of very knowledgeable people in this forum that can answer that question. There is also a post for those of us on Armour thyroid and working on dosages. There is a 2nd post called Armour #2 (or something like that). You can get a lot of information about Armour from those posts as well.
Avatar f tn At one time I was taking 225 mcg of Synthroid, yet had lingering symptoms. After learning about the importance of FT3 on the Forum, I switched to Armour. Currently taking 2 1/2 grains of Armour, after moving up slowly. Already feel best ever.
798555 tn?1292787551 NP thyroid by acella (90 days) doubled for me from 33 to 68 US$ from walgreens. Walmart is $35. Local regional grocery store is $90. Target is $125. Walgreen's has a discount club for $20 /yr, which knocks my price to $24 - thats the way to go. Comparable Armour dose is about 95$ at walgreens (Target wants $150 CVS takeover is jacking the price I think). So whatever your dose you can see where to shop. By the way this newer forum format stinks.
Avatar f tn 20 ulU/ml cortisol (am) 544 range171-536 nmol/L What do you think of these numbers? Is there a difference in Armour thyroid and Nature thyroid? Thanks for your help.
776302 tn?1241091853 I had to get off Armour thyroid extract because they are not making it anymore. On levothyroxin and hope it is helping me. Have to get tested next week. Hope I can take 100mcgs without any side effects to affect my heart.
519035 tn?1348275773 Hi everyone. Doctor has switched me to armour thyroid as of yesterday. I have been on 50mg of synthroid. I am now on 30 grains of armour. Now I was cruious if any of you watied a couple of days before you popped the pill, or if you just up and switched? Is the conversion higher than what I am currently taking?? What side effects if any?? Thanks!
Avatar f tn After learning about the importance of Free T3 here on the Forum, I got mine tested and confirmed as low in the range. Got my doctor to switch my meds from Synthroid to Armour Thyroid. After some tweaking, I am now taking 3 grains of Armour. My Free T3 is now 3.9 (range of 2.3 - 4.2) and Free T4 is .84 (range of .60 - 1.50), and I feel best ever. For info my TSH has been around .05 or lower for about 30 years now.
Avatar n tn We have to keep in mind that this forum is world wide. So its helpful to list your location. So- some questions for you. What country did you get this? I have never heard of P-Thyroid in the US as a prescription thyroid hormone replacement med. What kind of a doctor prescribed this for you? Is this really a prescription from a pharmacy? Or an on the shelf supplement product containing dessicated thyroid purchased from a health food nutritional store?.
Avatar n tn Lupo My thyroid burnt out about 2 years ago, since then I have tried on a number of times to exercise, but my body gets exhausted--I am currently on Armour thyroid, and my doc told me that actually if you over exercise you actually make the inhibit the thyroid, so he tested my FT3 again and even on 120mcg my FT3 was only 255---but my TSH is very low of course--so he wants me to try doing the armour in the morning and adding 5mcg of cytomel in the afternoon, since that is when I feel I am crash
