Avatar f tn and cystic back acne from the synthroid (both my PCP and a dermatologist insisted the synthroid was not giving me acne, but within weeks of going off it and on to Armour the acne went completely away). I loved the Armour because my brain-fog went entirely away as did my back acne, however within a few months I started to feel incredibly fatigued and was exhausted constantly. I wasn't able to fall asleep at night and would lay away for hours.

Avatar m tn I'm on 75 mg of synthroid currently I was on 120 armour I just had my blood drawn today and will have my results back next week. constipation ringing in the ears acne/rash - alot of the other symptoms are gone - cold feet - moody - tired - loss weight since change - I switched because the endo- said that the synthroid was better than the armour and didn't recommend me being on it. I actually feel so much better since the switch.
291885 tn?1404893207 I'm on Erfa thyroid and have been on both Armour and Erfa over the years going back to '05. I've been taking my pills sublingually (dissolving under tongue) for about 2 years now but over that time my Free T's have been dropping and my TSH has been rising. While there are some other things that could have contributed to that I'm trying to break it down one at a time and see if this particular change may have been what caused since my dose has remained steady since '05.
Avatar f tn m overmedicated on armour thyroid and i am going through the same thing.
Avatar f tn ( And i never got them before starting the Armour. Hopefully its something that can be easily fixed! :0 Thanks for your reply!!
Avatar f tn After long searching, I read that non treated hypothyroidism could lead to endless tendinitis, especially when T3 are needed. Because my doctor didn’t want to prescribe me Armour, I decided to buy Thyro-Gold, an OTC thyroid hormon. My PCP told me to change abruptly, the change was extremely painful, I developed migraines and depression and the tendinitis at the ankles came back. After 3 weeks of treatment, I’m feeling better but the tendinitis are still there.
Avatar f tn I am on 15 grams of Armour thyroid and the only side effect that I have had is a little bit of sweating..I am also in menopause so I am not sure if this is why I am sweating more or the Armour. No other side effects thus far. I was on synthroid and it nearly took all of my hair out. I hated it.I kept asking the doctor about it and he was saying that it was nothing they could do because synthroid was the best medication to take.
Avatar f tn ) After being on a cytomel (10 mcg split throughout the day) plus armour 90 mcg or 1.5 grains my FT4 had tanked to the bottom of the range and even bit below while FT3 was above range. I had been on this combo for over two years never feeling great. In fact I had a very difficult time accepting the armour from the very beginning so we moved super slowly. I tended to get bloating and swelling and we titrated up slowly as a result. Then in the spring.
Avatar n tn There is absolutely no evidence that keeping patients at a lower end of the range is good for them. There are significant cardiac risks for both mildly hypo and mildly hyper-thyroid patients. Patients should be treated at a dose high enough that their hypothyroid symptoms disappear, although not high enough to cause hyperthyroid symptoms to appear. Free T3 and Free T4 tests will help determine a good target as TSH is only one marker of thyroid performance.
Avatar f tn 20 ulU/ml cortisol (am) 544 range171-536 nmol/L What do you think of these numbers? Is there a difference in Armour thyroid and Nature thyroid? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Try taking 1,000 IU of Vitamin D a day and 400 mg of Magnesium Glycinate or Taurate twice a day, take vitamins and minerals four hours after or before Armour, always take Armour 1 hour before food, and no Soy, also make sure to read the label on the vitamins and don't by a brand with soy as an ingredient with any Vitamins. The Vitamin D and Magnesium will help with muscle issues.
Avatar n tn A friend, who is a nurse with hyper, sent her a wonderful thyroid book. I was reading it and it talked about T3 therapy. I knew that Armour has both and thought there must be a correlation. My wife read it as well and thought there might be something to it. She faxed the chapter to her doc, and they ended up putting her back on Armour. She felt much better fairly early on. But she isn't back to where she was before.
Avatar f tn I'm feeling hopeless and am in desperate need of some advice and support. I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and been feeling terrible for years now...always tired, cold, thinning hair. I keep gaining weight and can't get it off. I also have cystic acne that leaves scars on my face when I go off antibiotics. I'm on levoxyl now (switched off synthroid).
Avatar f tn Of these, progesterone is the most important in the prevention and cure of acneand thyroid hormone plus natural vitamin A work to ensure its formation." We'll get back to the possible need to test for those later. This made me wonder about a couple of things. First, what were your Thyroid test results right before you started on thyroid med? Why did you say that synthetic T4 wasn't helping anymore? What made you decide to try a higher dose? What was the new dose?
744962 tn?1270942038 I dont think taking thyroxin with Armour is wise as the Armour already has a T4 med in it and you are taking T4 as well (thyroxin). Is there any reason for this? Usually you are one or the other. All you are doing by taking thyroxin is to 'boost' the Armour. And that in itself would cause symptoms as it could elevate your FT4 which then converts to T3...hence the tremors..
895308 tn?1304340982 You will either remain off somewhat with your Armour if you chose to stay on Xanax - or better yet, ween off the Xanax and then adjust your thyroid hormones naturally with the Armour so all the hypo symptoms leave and you truly are well then again without that garbage anxiety meds causing you grief.
Avatar m tn t benefit from Synthroid - you are very lucky your found Synthroid to work best for you - it is the thyroid drug of choice and many doctors will not continue Armour if you need to change to someone else. Go back to what works - and the question is still ot there - Why did you try it if Synthroid was working?
Avatar n tn I have been so itchy the pass two weeks and it is driving me crazy and the only medicine I am on is Armour Thyroid. I was wondering if the Armour or my thyroid condition can be the cause of what is going on with me. It is driving me crazy and I am not sure what to do. I am not only itchy I also have some hives on my body in a couple of places and in some spots it looks like a heat rash. I am not sure if it is from me scratching these areas or something else.
1877796 tn?1320527991 Before we implicate Armour itself, we should explore many areas. So, to start, what was the diagnosed cause for you being hypothyroid? What were your thyroid related test results at that time? Were you started on Armour? What was your starting dose and when? What is your current dose? Do you have other symptoms besides the depression? If so, please post those. What were your latest thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report?
Avatar m tn Note that the amount of thyroid hormone in the thyroid gland may vary from animal to animal. To ensure that Armour Thyroid tablets are the same from tablet to tablet and lot to lot, the amount of T4 and T3 is measured in both the raw material and in the actual tablets" Sure you can still doubt the information, because your Endo told you something different. But just keep in mind all the possible reasons for a biased opinion.
Avatar n tn I am 47 and 7 years ago had my thyroid removed due to Papallary cancer of the thyroid. Recently I have been very lathargic and my hair is dry and have heart palpatations, at times it feels as if I'm having a heart attack, I get winded even in the shower I have no sex drive and wake up tired. I had my TSH levels checked and they were 4.92, I have high blood pressure and was put on 20MG of Propranolol. I have cronic constipation and in order to have a movement I have to take something.
4764932 tn?1359844198 Will get more bloods done this week so I can compare cholestrol with test before taking armour and will let you know. Plus I will send you thyroid tests. Untill then , over and out.
