Arm exercises on the ball

Common Questions and Answers about Arm exercises on the ball

1936411 tn?1333835449 uses light weights, lots of squats, ab work, and working on arm and leg strength. I adapt the degree of difficulty for me, hang out in the back of the room and enjoy every minute. This is my third year of doing this - it hasn't helped with weight gain or anything cardiovascular, but I do have good muscle tone and strength. The other class is Tai Chi, which I absolute love and so does my neuro. It works so well with focusing balance and energy in different ways and I really benefit from it.
1936411 tn?1333835449 For balance, my PT has me sit in a corner on an exercise ball. He sits in front of me to catch me, then I roll the ball out, put my feet together, hands on knees and close my eyes. we also do a similar thing standing on a piece of foam. Just make sure someone is with you!! I can give you other exercises for leg weakness if you want them. If you think you would benefit from PT, then I would push the neuro.
Avatar m tn The only thing that helps is chiropractor and light exercise on my back. I use the exercises from the physical therapist. However, I am looking for more of them to do. Must be low intensity. I really think I need to strengthen my back and upper body. The orthopedic surgeon told me that.
1756367 tn?1400887964 Brain exercises have been very popular in the recent past. What are your top suggestions for brain exercises, for children in their development stage, and separately for elderlies who could be suffering from various diseases as one retires and various parts of the brain starts to slow down/degenerate. thanks so much in advance for your help!
211940 tn?1267884866 The pain went away but came back 9 months later and now there is no shoulder pain, it's the pain in my arm between the shoulder and the elbow on the outside of the arm. I too also have a sore or tender spot when touched. Sometimes when I wake up and the pain is so bad I can't even lift my arm, I get out of bed and I hear my shoulder pop. Almost like it went back in it's socket. But that has only happened twice.
Avatar m tn I have read the questions concerning tingling and numbness as well as the diagnosis, my problem however, is the numbness is up my right arm into my shoulder and neck. The arm feels like I have thrown a ball as hard as I could without warming up. The condition has persisted for about three months and is more pronounced at some times than others. I am a consistent cyclist, walk a few miles daily and lift weights 3 days a week.
1040373 tn?1273691088 I haven't done anything specifically for my hands - was doing work with weights on the stability ball for total body strength - only 3-5 lb weights. I have to get back to it!
Avatar f tn So, in all sincerity, if you live in the United States and work only part time due to your autism, can you apply for Medicaid? It's worth a try to get medical care. So, at least you got to the doctor and they must have ruled out heart issues which is good. I was wanting to make sure that isn't going on. What about looking up stretching exercises for that area? Gentle stretching.
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago, I also tried some stretching exercises, to the point where I could feel pain, but my arm only hurt worse the next few days when I tried to reach with it. Perhaps stretching exercises are an answer, but I am afraid to make matters worse by forcing things when I don’t know the cause of this. When I press in around the surface skin of my shoulder or upper arm, nothing hurts, so whatever is causing this is deep down inside.
Avatar n tn m being told that i have some bone spurs on c5 and c6 that run down my left arm and the shoulder pain is so bad i can't use me left arm i was told that the nervr on the left lattary was damage so i need to know if there is any thing that can be done so i can work with out pain i have to take pain medican ever day so i can work now and i;m having nerve block to help bloce the pain but i know i can't keep taking them for ever the doc.
Avatar f tn He told me that the loss of use of the right hand/arm was definetely a stroke in his opinion - based on what he sees. I told him that I thought I had this problem beat, as I had not had an episode for 7 months. He replied by telling me that he looked at my charts and noticed that I started aspirin therapy apx. 7 months ago and he feels that this is what kept the problem at bay.
Avatar m tn I feel the professionals have shed some light on the condition but really don't know what is going on or how to fix it. I regularly stretch, use a massage ball and foam roller and do scapula and rotator cuff exercises to improve shoulder positioning. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how I can fix it? I'm 33 years old and in good shape but these past 6 months have been very difficult and I'm at a loss as to what to do.
Avatar f tn It will take months, not weeks to get better. Pain in the arm can be referred from the osteoarthritic problems in the neck and shoulder blade and from the knotted muscles. You could ask if an xray or MRI scan would be worth having done to rule out any bone problems and tendon issues. I damaged my tendon in my leg whilst using the treadmill and it took 9 months to heal. Just to give you an idea how long these things can take. Follow the advice of your physiotherapist.
Avatar m tn I worked in a fast food restaurant for almost 9 yrs. doing the same thing. I would use my right arm collecting $ and giving change back. Last October, I felt just a little twinge by my right scapula (between my spine and scapula).I would press on that area standing in a doorway. I woke up one morning after sleeping on my right side with my arm bent under my pillow.(like I have for so many yrs.) I was in such pain! My right scapula and pain straight down on the right side of my back.
Avatar n tn I have a similar problem but mine is an ache in the bicep and tricep area of both arms- near the ball of the shoulder. I have googled the problem and spoke to a few doctor friends who say it may be a nerve entrapment- problem with degenerate dics, etc.. May have to have a CT Scan or MRI to show what is happening with nerves and if they are being pinched. I believe it is a pinched nerve as it is affecting both arms in the same spot. Sounds like yours might be the same.
Avatar n tn I cannot life objects with that side, and sometimes I think the pain will never go away completely. I always hold babies on the left side but it is the right upper arm that keeps me awake ... what have I done?
Avatar m tn My shoulder/arm went after being hyperactive and having severe inflammation bursitis (which has since rectified, except for my shoulder arm). The only person who seemed to help worked on the trigger points, and that, along with 'tai chi' posture (and now using a tennis ball on the shoulder joints), is helping. It makes sense now that the stretching excercises didn't seem to bring relief, and I will do the ice as well. THANKS!!!
Avatar n tn There are different types of microcalcifications, and based on their pattern on the mammogram it gives the radiologist clues as to their cause. For instance microcalcifications that are more scattered are probably due to a benign (non-cancerous) cause, a “cluster” of microcalcifications may increase concern that there may be an underlying tumor. There may or may not be any 'lesion' visible on mammography.
Avatar n tn I do spend a lot of time on the floor with the children , could this be some sort of allergy to the carpet? The carpet is not new and there is no external irritation to the skin. Or should I see a doctor about it? ( note: I do have a history of cancer personally and in my family, but have been cancer free for 20 years).
1831849 tn?1383231992 -) Kyle Today I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes and covered 2.5 miles. I carried 3LB hand weights and did random arm exercises.
Avatar m tn Wash off your hands with soap. The blood vessels on one side of the nose swell up with blood, on purpose, to close off that side of the nose to air. This gives the cilia in the closed nostril a chance to clean out all the pollution and mucus. When it’s clean, it opens up and the other side is closed to repeat the process. The things that swell up to close your nostrils are called turbinates. Keep this in mind when you are blowing your nose.
Avatar m tn Ever since, every once in a while, it will just start up again with the same pain, in the exact same spot (the left wrist, on the outer half) There is no swelling with it, and no bruising. I am wondering if it is just a weak spot in the wrist, that is aggrivated by certain movements or actions. If this is the case, does anyone have any ideas on how to strengthen the wrist up? Or, any way to deal with it?
Avatar m tn What I found really useful was all types of weight bearing exercises. Just simply put your hands on the ground on all fours and put weight on your arm. When I was weak I used to lie on one of the large pilates balls to half support my weight, then I got rid of the ball and just spent as much time as I could putting weight on my arm. I can recommend also a very good book by Tom Balchin from Amazon with a lot of exercises.
Avatar n tn Now for about 3 months I've been having pain in my left leg, left arm and chest. Its an on and off thing, but leg pain is on the upper and inner thigh that seems to stem from my pelvis and it is very painful. about once a week I also get a severe burning sensation on my left hand which hurts even more when I put water over it. It usually happens when I am cooking. The skin doesnt look much different to me...?
Avatar n tn My head is smaller than most other people and I have a HUGE wide nose, almost unaimiaginably huge with a large ball tip. My brother on the other hand seems normal and tall and doesnt have all these problems. I also have weird lifeless eyes which I can observe even in my pictures from childhood/ I worked hard through high school and landed my self into an extremely hard program but lately my crappy health is getting the better of me. I also suffer from cysts and folliculitus all over my body.
Avatar n tn I have been told to exercise, but the simple neck exercises tend to now bring on symptoms of dizziness and the headaches. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!
703031 tn?1398966907 come on, cookie, all done, ball, choo choo and ok. Her vocabulary seems to be growing by leaps and bounds lately and again using some of these words without prompting her. Yesterday she walked up to me saying cookie because she wanted one. And when leaving a room she says come on, waving her arm because she wants you to follow. Last night she said choo choo (as in train) because she wanted to go for a wagon ride. Therapies are going well and she started her OT therapy last Thursday.
Avatar m tn I had my 4th minor knee surgery (I've since had my 5th) and the attitude of my doctor was the perfect thing to set the ball in motion. Something clicked. Since he released me after only 3 weeks of physical therapy, I realized getting my knee into shape was up to me, so I started walking. I NEVER ATE DIFFERENTLY - NO DIET. I walked 3 miles per day, and pretty soon I noticed that I was losing weight. THAT'S when I decided it WAS worth it to make a few other healthier food choices.
Avatar f tn I have had tingling sensation off and on, on a certain spot on my upper left shoulder forabout several years. then from th beginning of this year the tingling sensation in that particular spot increased and became very frequent like several times a day. Now, for the past 4 months I have been experiencing excruciating pain on my left shoulder. It starts when I am typinbg worksheets on my laptop for about a little more than half an hour.
317787 tn?1473362051 ) I am learning that the frozen shoulder I have is where the body lays down collagen over the shoulder joint and the arm and slowly grows until the arm and shoulder are one unit. Not a good thing if you want to wash your hair or put on a shirt or a coat. I am working on it with PT and I am also taking something called Serrapeptase to try to help me get rid of the extra collagen that is in the wrong place. I wonder if I could convince it to move to my face?
