I think you should talk to your doctor about a well known strategy of adding Prozac to ease withdrawal symptoms from Effexor.You will still likely experience withdrawal symptoms, but they are minimal and will be easier to handle.

Dear baba_g: The purpose of arimidex (an other aromatase inhibitors) is to try to prevent cancer recurrence – not only for the duration that the drug is used but in years beyond. The purpose of the clinical trial is to ask the question if 10 years is better than 5. While there are recurrences in people who are taking arimidex and other medications, the data is looked at not individually but in large numbers to see if overall, 10 years would be better than 5.
Hello. I am taking Arimidex (dx May 2007, IDC, 1 cm., grade 3, negative lymph nodes; had lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy, chemo, radiation; I was 54 and perimenopausal at time of dx and chemo put me in menopause.) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice.
There is another woman (jan348) who was asking about Arimidex and she had tried to post a question on the expert forum, but ended up here instead. If you search Arimidex in the search bar that is just for this forum, you'll find about 50 different posts on the subject. I don't think to many people are on that right now, so maybe the search would help you since it is a lot of info all in one place.
Dear keith600: If you have been taking arimidex for 2 years it is unlikely that this "skin" problem is directly related. You may want to have your doctor take a look to determine what this might be and whether any treatment is warranted.
I started taking Arimidex a month ago and I have experienced some of the symptoms you mentioned.For example constipation, vision bluriness, disoriented, shortness of breath, hot flashes, heartburn arm pain,and joint stiffness. I'm concern because I have cataracts,WBC Esterase is abnormal ,Epithelial cell abnormality low-grade squamous lesion, mild dysplasia and human papillomavirus.
I'm schedualed to see my medical onogologist next month so I will bring all this info with me.
t be reached even for a biopsy to be taken the Arimidex cleared it by the next scan (6 months). I should point out that Arimidex was the only medication I was taking, no other treatment.
The only reason my cancer has now returned is because a relief GP gave me the results of a bone scan and found that I had osteoporosis so she took me off it and by the time I saw my oncologist (another 6 months) the cancer had returned and metasized in my intestines and spine and ribs. Great fun!
Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?
the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%).
As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
I was stage 3B and grade 2-3 and Braca 1. Two things if this nasty beast rears its ugly face will I have symptoms leading up to the rise in my CA. 2nd I am trying to be on an estrogen blocker as it was estrogen positive, currently trying Arimidex as fumara gave me too much pain have you tried these drugs right after chemo and with any luck. We are also looking at it as preventive for breast cancer. I am 54 years old and doing well.
Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density?

My friend has been taking Arimidex for two years and has all the usual side effects--hot flashes, muscle aches, lack of sleep but, in spite of all her exercising and walking and careful eating, all of the weight gain has been in her stomach and she is at a loss of what to do to lose it. Nothing seems to work and she's very unhappy with that particular location? Anyone else know of weight gain from the drug at that spot specifically?
Dear Piezy,eventually the symptoms of headaches,be from radiation or Arimidex will in time subside, due to the fact that the body gets used to it .I do some breathing exercises,take a pain killer,and especially I try not to focus so much on the side effects....I found that every time I pity myself and get stressed out, things get worse.My sister had radiation and is taking Arimidex (2 years now) and the side effects have considerably lessened.I hope it will happen to us also.
I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep.
Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?
Had a 16% decline in my heart fuction, according to my Muga Scans. I have been on Arimidex along with Lupron shots for almost 2 years now. It is suppose to be a 5 year plan. Now that I am 34, I am starting to worry about ever having a family. That these drugs have been shutting down my ovaries for so long, it may become permident. There really is no information on what kind of comes can occur. I have been thinking about stopping these treatments.
