Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex testosterone levels

arimidex

Avatar m tn After brachytherapy for my cancer, I am in remission, and after 2+ years resumed taking androgel. I am on androgel again, and have high Testosterone levels (about 1000), but my libido has never recovered. I also have had hypothyroidism, but have been taking synthroid for it for many years with no adverse impact on my libido. Does anyone have a suggestion for what to do?
689860 tn?1238718032 Be sure your doctor monitors your levels monthly including your estradiol (estrogen) levels. When your proper testosterone levels are achieved, continue to monitor your estradiol levels monthly for up to 6 months. If they rise too high, a drug that is normally used for females with breast cancer called Arimidex will take care of the problem. It neutralizes the enzyme that causes testosterone to aromatize into estrogen.
Avatar n tn The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar n tn range is so wide that you can have almost 10 times the amount and it is still considered normal. That just seems wrong. The average male will lose low levels of testosterone every yr. after about the age of 30-35. I can guarantee you if the loss of testosterone was not gradual, men would be rushing to their MD. In my case (55 yr. old-male) I started self injections of testosterone every week for my low "T" number. It has helped my energy, libido, and given me a better outlook on life.
Avatar m tn Sorry I cannot help you but I can offer you some advice to seek out another doctor. Maybe a doctor in another state if you have to. Someone who is trained in the exact problems you are having...but with a good track record. As for the weight gain I truly think that your diet is partially to blame. I understand your GI problems though and see they are preventing you from eating enough. I am also a vegetarian and understand it takes work to make sure you get everything you need.
Avatar n tn Might there be some other problem associated with the way my body absorbs and uses Testosterone? Even after the injection I'm feeling down, low energy, and can cry at the slightest little thing - my emotions are all out of whack. What can I do to achieve that same feeling that Androgel & Androderm gave me, but only for one day?
Avatar m tn I was 38 and premenstrual. Following surgery, chemo and radiotherapy had 5 years of zoladex and arimidex which finished in Aug 2013. My periods returned 10 months later but have been very irregular, cycles from 5 weeks to a 2 month and a 3 month cycle. I have had enormous problems with intermittent fatigue, muscle aches, painful breasts, mood wings (PMDD), hypertension. I was fatigued during the hormonal tx but the present fatigue does not improve with rest.
Avatar m tn t want to be dependent on a drug to be able to get an erection. I found another doc and I asked him to check my testosterone levels…it came back around 250, just like you. And again, just like you, the doctor told me i was normal. A 29 year old guy with 250 T normal? No chance. And then began my journey which I have been blogging about since. Currently, I am on a combination of 50mg Clomid nightly, .5 arimidex every morning and .5 cabergoline every 3 days.
Avatar m tn I have Hypogonadism treated wth testosterone and arimidex. I do wonder if arimidex can trigger afib. I have OSA and wear CPAP at night......Also during my sleep study I had a couple central apneas too.....So I wonder if I rally have a mixed Sleep apnea. I am 34 years old.
Avatar m tn Total T, Free Testosterone, SHBG and Estradiol. Yes estrogen. If you have higher SHBG and/or higher estrogen it would be sucking all your Testosterone leaving little Free testosterone which is all your body uses and you will have low T symptoms. Not saying it is one or the other or both. But at your age you have the total T level of about a 70 year old man! And that is NOT anything close to "normal".
Avatar n tn Will broccoli seed extract capsules interfere with Arimidex if I take them both? Apparently broccoli seed extract is also an aromatase inhibitor. I am on Arimidex and blood tests indicate that it is working, as my estrogen levels are low. But a 24-hour urine test prescribed by an M.D. with a holistic practice showed a problem in one of my estrogen pathways, and recommended a broccoli seed extract with SGS (sulforaphane glucosinolate). Might it enhance or interfere with Arimidex?
Avatar f tn Can his disease cause this problem possibly low levels testosterone? I want to do all i can so he doesnt feel self conscious.
Avatar n tn I'm 44. Up until five years ago, I always had a raging libido. Suddenly, that all ended. Concerned, I went to a GP, who referred me to a urologist. After running tests, the urologist told me my testosterone levels were on the high side, and that I didn't need testosterone supplementation - I needed a psychiatrist (since around that time, I was pretty bummed about some personal issues). Over the next year, I did go to several counselors to chat. They were all useless.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor but I can tell you that most woman that have higher level of testosterone suffer from PCOS. I have a higher level of testosterone and i have had PCOS all of my life.. but was diagnose in 2001. You should go to your doctor and ask to be tested for PCOS.. Good luck..
503702 tn?1276176714 Just started arimidex for 9 days and had nasuea switch me to Femara. Anyone having good results? Im in recurrence of OVCA after 15thms. did chemo and avastin trial. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Again, low SHBG and insulin resistance are implied, so that you could be a candidate for type II diabetes, which could affect T levels, so that better to check the blood sugar levels also, especially since you started getting problems of late only. You should also check up your thyroid levels, estrogen, LH, prolactin, and adrenal levels to confirm none of those are responsible for your low T levels.
1446961 tn?1284577797 I would advise you to have a serious discussion with your Oncologist regarding the problems you are having with the Arimidex. There may be another medication that you could switch to that wouldn't cause so much pain and destruction. You might even have to weigh the benefits vs. these severe side effects and have to discontinue the drug on the basis of the findings.
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Hello I'm 23 years old, recently got my testosterone levels tested amd it showed up 143 ng/dl (CLIA method- don't know what i means). Can someone please help how serious is my condition? I'm having problems with sex drives, erections, disfunction, ejaculation, hair fall phase for a while, delayed hair growth, couldn't loose fat, how hard i try, problem putting on mass. Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn You could be oozing with total testosterone and still be deficient if you also have high levels of binding globulin. Normal levels of bioavailable testosterone are 2.00 to 8.60 nmol/L. That's it. Everything else is irrelevant.
Avatar n tn The normal testosterone levels in males vary between 260 -1080 ng/dl/ 8.8 - 36.7 nmol/l. Though these may slightly lower with age, the average values remain more or less the same. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn I AM 69 YEARS OLD MALE. MY SGOT IN JAN. WAS 52 & SGPT WAS 54. IN MAR SGOT WAS 48 & SGPT 45. MY VA DOCTOR STOPPED MY TESTOSTERONE TREATMENT STATING MY HIGH LIVER FUNCTION TEST. I HAVE 3 BEERS A WEEK. DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS DR.'s ACTIONS?
919239 tn?1269394658 I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to imply that you were playing doctor. I teach statistics, so when I saw "direct correlation," it sounded a little too definitive. Low testosterone can definitely cause depression, and it is something that should be ruled out before beginning treatment. I'm glad that you are having success with the replacement therapy (especially after having no success with the antidepressants). I hope you continue to see improvement. All the best..
Avatar m tn Dear madwilson, Hairloss is not a usual side effect associated with Arimidex. Arimidex is an aromatase inhibitor. This means it blocks the enzyme aromatase (found in the body's muscle, skin, breast and fat), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. In the absence of estrogen, tumors dependent on this hormone for growth will shrink. For more information regarding this drug and side effects you can check out the website chemocare.com.
