Arimidex and the liver

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex and the liver

arimidex

Avatar n tn m not looking to replace arimidex with the supplement, just use it to enhance the AI effect of arimidex (the supplement works in the liver, not in the adrenals like arimidex). In addition to the feedback from my oncologist, I would like more professional opinions as well. If my estradion/estrone blood tests remain low, can I trust that the estrogen results are accurate -- or could there still be an interaction between arimidex and the supplement that the blood test wouldn't show?
Avatar n tn On the contrary, Hypertension is an uncommon side effect of Arimidex, and the blood clot problems are also less with Arimidex compared to the other hormonal treatment, tamoxifen. The management of hypertension should proceed just like the management of the more common forms of hypertension. It will be very hard to ascertain if the hypertension is due to the arimidex without formally withdrawing the drug and observing your blood pressure.
Avatar n tn A Web site to visit for information about the side effects of Arimidex and the various chemotherapies is www.chemocare.com Best wishes...
Avatar m tn Hi Medo, Could be the way to go, and talk it over with him/her, and take any evidence that backs up your claim.

Avatar f tn s answer to your other post, and have to say she gave you the same advice I would. I would start with the Arimidex, and in the meantime, have the slides from your surgery sent to be tested to see if you are estrogen receptor positive. If it comes back postive, then you'll know your best bet is to continue on with Arimidex, or swith to another Aromatase Inhibitor if your CA125 continues to rise after the first month.
Avatar n tn I think a lot of the weight is water. Only took the arimidex for a few days but in that little time gained about 5 pounds. femara was a little better but I went off it also. Going back on Tamoxifen, and I have a feeling it's the best drug for me anyway.
Avatar f tn Estrogen and progesterone positive. If anyone can tell me something about Arimidex and the above side effects and osteopenia and whether or not I need to start a bisphosphonates please let me know.
Avatar f tn I have been on most that you have named, carbo/taxol, doxil, gemzar, topotecan, and now avastin/abraxane. I was dx with mets to the liver and all of these drugs have helped at least a little bit. They just don't work long enough, and when one stops working, it is time to move on to something else. I think that the best thing for you to do is to ask your Dr what he thinks would be a good course of action for you.
Avatar m tn I only started off with stage 0 intraductal carcinoma which became a stage 1 due to the hospital losing my results, and have had lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node removal leading to lymphedema, abdominal hysterectomy, and am currently almost at the end of my reconstruction and now osteopenia of the spine and hips and liver polyps. Sorry, had to vent, but need to try and make sense of all this, any advise, empathy will be appreciated..
Avatar f tn She is so very careful about diet and goes to the gym and does everything right and she says the only time her stomach was bigger was when she was pregnant. I can see the frustration in her cause it's going to be at least three more years on the medicine and then will the gain ever come off? I wouldn't be so sure after that length of time.
Avatar f tn I learned that Aromasin and Arimidex are quite different. Aromasin permanently binds to the Aromatase and Arimidex is temporary. I'll have to do more research about what that means chemically.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have not found acne listed among the documented determatological side effects of Arimidex, just rashes and itching. (If your friend's doctors are dismissing it as acne, could it possibly be a rash?) However, since hormones are effected by Arimidex, it seems reasonable that acne might occur.
Avatar n tn I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime
Avatar n tn I have been on arimidex for 9 months having switched from tamoxifen. For the past five weeks, I have been bleeding and appear to be having a period. Does anyone relate to this? I am overweight, stressed, and too busy to exercise in case there is a connection. Any experience out there with this?
Avatar f tn I had a bilateral mastectomy one year ago. I was stage II and had 36 lymph nodes removed in a second surgery. All of which were negative (one node was found to have a spec of cancer during the initial surgery - doctor called it a floater). I underwent 6 rounds of chemotherapy which ended last April. The breast cancer was only in my right breast, however the doctor said the MRI reflected that the left side didn't look normal - things were changing.
Avatar m tn For more information regarding this drug and side effects you can check out the website chemocare.com. You can also look up the prior Here is the direct link to Arimidex on the site: http://www.chemocare.com/bio/arimidex.asp .
Avatar n tn Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?
Avatar f tn The purpose of the clinical trial is to ask the question if 10 years is better than 5. While there are recurrences in people who are taking arimidex and other medications, the data is looked at not individually but in large numbers to see if overall, 10 years would be better than 5.
Avatar f tn I have tried Arimidex, Tamoxifen, and Femera with no luck. Now the dr would like to do a total hysterectomy. I am 45 and stopped having periods 3 years ago. Is this beneficial or not?
562511 tn?1285904160 Those are side effects of the Arimidex. See if your mother can tolerate fish oil or cod liver oil to take with her vitamin D & calcium. It's good for her and it should help her body process the vitamin D and calcium better.
Avatar n tn Arimidex really has a side effect of decreasing bone mineral density, and therefore making the person prone to fracture. The incidence of this in the general population is about 5%. However, these side effects are offset by the major clinical benefit which is prevention of disease recurrence and may ultimately prolong survival. This will all depend on how you accept these risks.
Avatar f tn I'm calling tomorrow and asking to start treatment asap I'm tired of being sick
