Ive never heard of a Percocet 30mg, but Percocet and Oxycontin are not the same thing...I believe that Oxycontin is time released while Percocet is not...please someone correct me if Im wrong...hope this helps!

because of the bad pubicity about OXYCONTIN he puts me on oxycodone the generic form which is fine by me it works the same but....now they are not making the generic ( so they say) and he says he will not write oxycontin anymore! What do I do? What is the next drug that even compares to it? Help!!

Arent they the same thing? Why would I be having withdrawels? I take the meds for real pain, and ran out of the percocet, because I try not to take as much oxycontin, becuase it makes me tired and gives me a headache. Any ideas?

s some advice. You should be taking the OxyContin for persistent pain and the Percocet for breakthrough pain. Since OxyContin is a 12 hour extended-release formulation of oxycodone it can probably be reduced to just twice daily initially since there's only 24 hours in one day. Of course Percocet is an immediate release formulation of oxycodone and thus has a shorter half-life than the OxyContin. Detoxification from oxycodone depends on your level of pain and your desire to stop taking it.

Because saying Percocet is the only safe drug for your fetus makes no sense to me at all Percocet is still an opiate and is infact the exact same as the 30mg oxycodone you have been taking. The only difference is that the Percocet is a lower dose of oxycodone and it contains Tylenol but its the same narcotic in both meds and is no different except I would think Percocet would be worse because of the Tylenol which can be DEVESTATING to the liver.

If you are only taking 8 pills a day you are below the daily max dose. Percocet have 325mg per pill. So you are taking 2600mg of acetaminophen. They say nowadays not to go above 3000mg and it use to be 4000mg. So I wouldn't worry about it. Just continue tapering down and you will be taking less and less acetaminophen.

I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Physicians will some times order the Oxycodone for more severe pain control and order the Hydrocodone for lesser pain. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label. The 5 is the mg strength of the narcotic, the 500 denotes how many mg of tylenol are in it, and APAP is the generic denotation of the Tylenol. I was feeling great 2 days into stopping the vicodin I thought I could quit smoking too, not a good idea, I caved on that after 2 days. I said let me take care of 1 addiction at a time.

vicodin, lortab, lorcet - all contain the narcotic HYDROCODONE while percocet contains the narcotic OXYCODONE. They have different chemical make-ups. All of the hydrocodone meds I listed also contain acetaminophen (tylenol). As far as I'm aware, they do not make a hydrocodone pill that does NOT contain acetaminophen. Percocet also contains acetaminophen, however, you can get oxycodone alone wthout the acetaminophen in it.

I am currently taking percocet as a break through med with morphine sustained release. I didn't have a choice on what I could take for breakthrough medicine. I don't take more than 1950 mg of tylenol per day via the percocet. I think the percocet and the vicodin puts a "cap" on how much a person can take before destroying their liver. My doctor has been very trustworthy of me but always wants me to stay on these combo meds.

Norco(=vicoden/hydrocodone too) 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, they usually come with 250 mg acetem.(Tylenol) Percocet/Percodan (Oxycodone) 5mg, 10mg anywhere from 250-750 mg (tylenol) Oxycontin usually comes in 10, 20,60,80 mg and typically doesn't have any tylenol. Morphine comes is pill form as well as intravenous for severe pain.
