monopril

Avatar f tn You could have developed an allergic reaction to the sutures and this usually depends on the composition of the sutures. They are catgut (plain/chromium), vicryl monocryl or vicryl rapidel. This is more so because you have developed the rash on the suture lines. Anti histamines from the mainstay of therapy. Though short courses of steroids are given for more severe symptoms. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
Avatar f tn Hi, Non-dissolvable sutures are used by some surgeons, while some only prefer dissolvable sutures. It really is surgeon preference. If your doctor has moved out of state, and if you have any concerns, I recommend you making an appointment with a plastic surgeon in your area. ________________ follow Dr.
Avatar m tn He says dissolvable sutures are less likely to damage the nerves surrounding the prostate during the robotic surgery.Past methods of controlling bleeding after removal of the prostate always carried a potential of damaging the nerves that lie so close to the prostate. This supposedly is a better way to control the bleeding without distrubing the nerves.
Avatar f tn the staples were painful, everytime I moved I felt the staples but once they were removed it was easier for me to move around I dont want to risk my incision opening again as it did prolong my recovery time.. im hopeful that the dissolvable sutures wont be nearly as uncomfortable and that I will heal better and quicker... Although my doctor says she usually does staples but she can do sutures if I want...
Avatar n tn I have very thin skin, and the fact that I am pretty much allergic/ultra sensitive to most if not all suture material out there and have severe inflammatory responses as a result (with the exception of Monocryl), chances are that I may reject other foreign material such as alloderm and strattice as well.
Avatar n tn Hello, Whether the hives appered as an allergic reaction to the dissolving sutures or not depends on the material of the sutures and your body,s immune reaction to that material.Mostly dissolving sutures are catgut(plain/chromium),vicryl,monocryl or vicryl rapide(latest and least allergic). Although your doctor is suspecting the stitches to be the source of allergy, but it is seen that many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known.
Avatar m tn Anyway, cmy last surgery was with a Surgiwrap dissolvable mesh barrier. He did not tack or staple the mesh in place (with dissolvable sutures or staples) but from what I read, I think he should have. I may try to go back to him for another try or maybe someone else. I have gone to Adhesions.Org but I never see very many success stories. A lot of people complain and when I write to them, (if they have an email address) they never have the surgery for one reason or another.
Avatar m tn I had a lower molar extracted several weeks ago and the dentist used non-dissolvable sutures. I had to return a week later to have them removed. The healing has been coming along nicely since then but obviously still has a ways to go. I recently discovered a single suture remaining and which was missed when the dentist removed the others. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems and the gum is healing around it. Do I need to return and have it removed or can I just leave it in there?
Avatar f tn I am assuming not transabdominal since no mention of staples, I alson assume not DaVinci cause all sutures are internal they use steri tape for external 1/4 to 1/2 incisions, So no worries !!! The only time to be concerned is if you spike a 101 or more fever or should you bleed hard like soak a pad in a hr,,if that happens get to er.......remember no sex till dr says ok. hugs Cherie...also rest still till Doc says you can resume some normal activities.
Avatar n tn t completely fight the infection if there is foreign body such as a suture present. It may be that dissolvable sutures were used and these may still resolve but typically the tract is probed with a fine tipped clamp and the offending suture removed thus allowing the wound to finally heal.
256553 tn?1258883918 ve had two c-sections with no problems with sutures. My sutures are coming up to the incision line In one long piece and not still tied on the end) We all heal different as I know. But I never thought someone could be allergic to the dissolvable sutures. So has any one else had problems.
Avatar m tn They used dissolvable stitches, including around the area where my frenulum was. The issue that I have now is that I don't know if this area where the frenulum was has properly heald. The earliest I can go to my urologist is next week and I tend to be a bit anxious about this, even if no pain or bleeding is happening.
Avatar n tn I had stage 1 cancer in a 6"x10"x10" tumor attached to my left overy. They did a a total hysterectomy and removed my appendix on Jan 14/09 with no further treatment. They did right & left gutter, pelvic and abdomenal washes as well as scraping my diaphram. I only discovered that the tumor ruptured during surgery when I got a copy of the surgical report on April 2 (3 months later). I have had a lot of post-operative surgery problems including continuing pain.
2932946 tn?1344722012 I had dissolvable sutures for the inside and surgical glue over the incision. The dr just stated to not submerge my incision and do not apply the shampoo directly onto the incision. My husband came into the bathroom with me and helped me wash my hair as I held a dry hand towel over my incision and leaned (well as much as I could) over so he could wash and rinse my hair. It took some finagling but after a while I was able to go back to normal shower routine.
Avatar f tn When Carrie had a Caesarian section, her doctor used panacryl sutures. While panacryl and vicryl sutures have both been recalled, it is believed that many still remain on hospital shelves and have been used in recent surgeries. Many patients like Carrie are seeking legal advice due to serious post-surgery complications including life-threatening infection and so called "spitting" sutures, where the body forces the sutures to the surface of the skin.
16427564 tn?1447853158 t think your hair will get stuck in your sutures like in your dreams, they are usually covered with steri strips for a while. I only had two removable stitches and one dissolvable suture that ran from top to bottom and was knotted and then the knots were cut about 15-20 days after surgery. My hair isn't growing yet (who knows it may never) where the incision is so if I didn't cover it with my hair it would look like I have a line down my head at the bottom.
Avatar n tn Residual external dissolvable sutures that remain in place after one month will need to be removed. The fluid accumulation and drainage may also be a result of the sutures and the attempt by you body to dissolve them. You will not likely be able to deal with this on your own and should be seen by a physician with knowledge in this area.
Avatar n tn There are other dissolvable sutures that are like it, braided multifilaments, but this one seems to be what most people have had a problem with. Though, it is used in almost every closure, which might account for it being the most popular one seen to do this. If you find out what he used you can ask if a different suture can be used for future surgeries (hopefully no more are needed).
Avatar n tn I really appreciate the advice. She does have dissolvable sutures, which makes not having to go back to the vet less traumatic. She is doing a bit better today. More like her old self. I brought her back to the vet yesterday, against my better judgement, just to make sure nothing was physically wrong. It was funny. She was happy to get out. She was wagging her tail in the waiting room and barking at the other dogs. So, I guess emotional trauma is not really an issue.
Avatar n tn Open wounds following breast reduction are relatively common, the result of tension at the junction of the inverted "T" scar at the inframammary fold as well as possible reaction to dissolvable deep sutures placed at the time surgery. There are a multitide of topical applications that can be used to clean this up and facilitate healing. If your physician is away for a month, he should be signed out to another plastic surgeon for emergency coverage.
Avatar f tn Sometimes the sutures DO pull & bug them when they walk......You can look closely & see if one of the knots is actually connected to the skin..That's usually the problem.....All my females have had sutures on the outside & all my males have had dissolvable ones....We have done hundreds & hundreds of spay/neuters at our rescue & it's always been this way..... Next: Pain medications cause constipation as do ALL after effects of surgeries.....You can add 1 tsp.
Avatar f tn Had a c-section one week ago.Today I had a doctors appointment to check my incision, and my doctor told me he had used internal dissolvable staples. I've never heard of dissolvable staples and I'm kind of freaking out? Has anyone heard about them?
Avatar m tn Are Sceral buckle sutures (for retinal re-attachment) temporary or permanent?
Avatar f tn if your body does not handle internal sutures well, please find another doctor to go to who will not use them on you. it most likely will happen again, so personally, I would not go forward with using the PDS sutures.
