Avatar n tn Are the type of calories your body receives more important than the amount of calories?
Avatar f tn t count calories. I plan my meals with the food guide as I mentioned, as well as portions, food groups etc. Counting calories in my opinion wouldn't make you lose weight and you have to be careful to lose the weight safely. Good luck, Marcy.
Avatar f tn The mobile app is supposed to be tied into the food diary tool on the forum and should work the same way. I'm doing some checking on how it works, because I haven't used it for a while and they made some changes. Perhaps I'm incorrect that it resets every day. I'll check it out.
Avatar f tn I weigh 100 pounds and sometimes act with eating disordered behaviors, such as vomiting after I eat mostly because I felt sick. Starving myself is another thing I often do because I don't feel hungry. I occasionaly use laxatives because I feel I have ate too much and will need help getting it out. The problem is I often don't feel well when I eat. On my most fat days consume about 3,000 calories. On some days I consume as little as only 200 calories.
Avatar f tn You might try changing up your food intake and exercise routines. When you eat the same amount of calories or do the same exercises, the body tends to get used to it and doesn't work as efficiently. Try upping your calorie intake by 100 calories/day for a couple days, then drop it by that much. When you do the same exercises every day, your body gets used to it and it's no longer a challenge. Change the type of exercise you do, the duration and intensity.
397560 tn?1220022177 All you need to do is write down the meals and snacks you eat along with the type of food and the calorie content. You can obtain the calorie content from the package or can look up items on sites such as http://www.calorieking.com If you're making a recipe and the calorie content is not known, you can add up the calorie content of each item to get a conglomerate total, then divide it by the number of portions you're serving to obtain the calorie content.
Avatar f tn Why would you want to limit calories when you are a growing teen? You said you were hungry all the time, hunger is how your body tells you that you need more food. At your age, weight and height you should be eating at least twice those calories per day. I know because when I was in chemo, I could barley keep any food down and I ended up at an emaciated 89 pounds. I was on death's doorstep at that point.
Avatar n tn For example, a key measure is how quickly a particular food metabolizes into sugar after you eat, because the quicker that happens the quicker it has to be burnt off or it will store as fat. Calories are more complex, as some high calorie foods don't pose a weight gain problem and some relatively low calorie foods do. But without calories, you'd be dead. With too few, you lack the energy to do anything.
4499225 tn?1396068663 24 kcals = 1oz, plus all of the other values are incorrect as well. Using the website the food information seems to be correct for the same food.
Avatar m tn Look on the packaging of the food you are eating, check the kcal for calories and saturated fats this should give you an idea, saturated fat content should be as low as possible, I count anything over 1 sat fat as too high and prefer 0.
Avatar f tn The following is food intake of the above calories per day and need to be spread between 3 meals and snacks between meals: Fruits 1cups, Vegetables 1.5 cups, Starches/Grains 5ozs, Meat & beans 4oz, Milk products 2cups, oils (unsaturated) 4 tsp and discretionary calories 171. Avatar n tn --- Carbs also have 4 calories per gram and only about 6% of calories from carbs are lost due to heat/metabolism. --- This creates a caloric differential of 19% !!! By switching to let's say to food items with higher protein value and lower carb value, without increasing fat intake much, you will easily create a calorie deficit. If your weight is 50 kilograms, you can go up to 50 kg x 1.5 grams/per kg = 75 gr of protein daily maximum.
Avatar f tn I weigh 8st 4Ib at the moment and would like to weigh 7st 13Ib but even at 600 calories seem to still maintain the same weight or lose a bit of weight vert slowly. I'm not very active as I have a desk job but walk quite a lot.
Avatar f tn the total amount of daily calories , carbs etc on the daily tracker is that the amount to maintain your current weight or to loss weight because it seems awfully high.
649848 tn?1534633700 d like to stay alive and healthy and wish for the same for our offspring. Fruits are quite good for you. Honey, by the way, is a whole food if you eat pure honey, it's not a processed food. You might not want to eat a lot of it, which just goes to show that not all whole foods are all that good for you. Wheat is probably not great for us. Dairy is probably not all that great for us. Tomatoes are probably not all that great for us.
Avatar f tn The same goes for exercise - vary the routine often because when you do the same thing everyday for the same # of reps in the same sequence, or eat the same # of calories, same type of food, etc your body becomes used to it and no longer responds the way you want it to. I hope this helps and I'm sure some of the others will come up with some ideas as well.
Avatar m tn I think you're on to something. Alcoholic beverages are one of the most common sources of "empty" calories - they do not provide nutrition (for the most part), and a typical alcoholic beverage has at least 150 calories. Count the number of alcoholic drinks you have a week and multiply by 150 - it adds up pretty quick!
1332403 tn?1278859824 In the end, calories are calories, no matter how you take them in. But it is easier to consumer too many calories quickly if you eat a lot of higher fat foods. Food diaries are a well-supported way to get people thinking more objectively about what they are eating/drinking.
10538711 tn?1443571442 Losing weight by cutting cals only works in the short term because as the pounds come off you are taking pressure off your heart and it doesn't have to work as hard. Hence why you gotta do more exercise to lose the weight. No-one said it would be easy.
Avatar f tn s not unusual for weight to plateau after a while. The best way to jump start the loss, again, is to change things up. Either add/subtract calories and/or change your exercise routine. If you do the same things every day, your body simply comes to expect those things and it's no longer a challenge.
Avatar f tn well i think its still the same as a normal pregnancy 4,000.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with the program's diets, but I do know from experience and from friends' experiences that cutting your carb intake is sooooo hard and strange at first. Your body is so used to having them for easy energy, it takes a few days for it to figure out that it is going to have to start using fat for energy, which is a less readily available energy source. Your body really has to work to get that fat burning.... which is the whole trick.
748902 tn?1286034758 I feel like I will have eaten a mountain of food by the end of the day, but it only comes to 1233 calories, is this ok?
